  1. Not getting into shape could be a reason why somebody is injury prone.
  2. Getting this started early. I’m going to end the losing streak with this game thread. I’ll be at the game. First game I’ve been to since game 4 against Houston in 2021. I believe Thorpe is starting. Easy win. You’re welcome.
  3. I feel like the only reason we won that day was because it was a double header. A lot of double headers are split. When’s the last time we played baseball on a specific day and didn’t lose that day?
  4. Same here. When it freezes, I immediately jump to Rosenthal’s and Passan’s account on X to see what happened. Then I’m disappointed when there’s nothing. Then I realize I’m actually relieved because the return will be subpar. I’ve done that 17 times so far today.
  5. There probably are teams willing to buy low. We just can’t afford to sell low.
  6. Who are you referring to? Ripken and Palmeiro?
  7. I doubt we get Perez without Kopech in the trade, so we didn’t get nothing.
  8. I feel like all I’ve read here for the past two months is how Kopech sucks, but now I’m reading how we should have gotten more for him.
  9. I don’t know what you guys are talking about. This offense is STACKED! Robert, Eloy, BENINTENDI! If Vargas hits, and Colson returns to form, we can win at least 52 games next year. EDIT: Forgot about Vaughn. We basically have our entire future lineup figured out.
  10. This is basically exactly what I said earlier. Underwhelming return because it feels like a player short, but not nearly the disaster of a trade that most are claiming.
  11. https://x.com/whitesox/status/1818019048937889815?s=46&t=hCMAMLMYHQoJ8GPQos5khQ
  12. Yeah, I said something similar in my next post after the one you quoted.
  13. Tough to argue with that. But if that’s how we are going to evaluate a trade, then what are we even doing here? Nobody we get in a return will work out.
  14. If I just found out we traded Colas for Vargas, I’d be very happy with that. Even though both have faded, I think Vargas has always been more highly regarded, and he’s having a much better year than Colas in 2024. I understand your point in that prospects can fade, but Vargas can still be a very good player.
  15. Didn’t the Sox get a top 40 prospect, who graduated and isn’t on lists anymore?
  16. Agreed. I’d be pretty happy with that trade. So the disgust with this trade is Fedde for a top 30-40ish prospect from last year. That seems like it’s light a prospect, but when you combine it with the good return for Kopech and Pham, it’s not as crazy as many are saying. I’d say overall, it’s a slightly underwhelming return, but not a disaster. But what I can’t figure out is how the Cards managed to get Fedde and Pham for Edman. That’s the bigger head scratcher, not the return that the Sox got.
  17. Let’s say Fedde and Vargas weren’t in this trade. How would everyone feel about Kopech and Pham for Perez and Albertus?
  18. What if the Dodgers get Edman and give up Alex Freeland? The Cards then get Fedde, while giving up Edman and something else to the Sox. Sox obviously give up Fedde and get back Freeland and whatever else from the Cardinals to make it work. No clue if this makes sense. Just thinking out loud.
  19. If Pedro gets canned, would an interim manager finish out the year? Or would we look to bring in someone new immediately?
  20. I hope this results in no team offering a legitimate trade package over the next year or so, Crochet pitching like the best pitcher in baseball and staying healthy, and JR finally realizing it’s time to offer him an extension this time next year. Yes I know, I can dream.
  21. I highly doubt there has been any offer for Crochet or Robert that has been worth taking.
  22. What if all trade offers are extremely light because nobody wants to take the injury risk? Would you still trade him while you can? I know I sound like a broken record with the questions I’m asking in my last few posts, but I’m genuinely curious what others would do if they were in charge. If you get a good offer, you obviously take it. But let’s assume all offers are way too light. There doesn’t seem to be a good option. Extending him seems to be too risky, and waiting until the offseason might not help because teams could still be nervous about a future injury. I’m guessing at that point, teams would rather wait until the 2025 deadline to see how his arm holds up during the first half of next year.
  23. I’d be curious what @ptatc thinks the chances of a future injury would be if they shut down Crochet for the season after this weekend.
