  1. Tough to score four runs in an inning without coming even remotely close to hitting a ball hard.
  2. Keep his confidence high instead of playing him against a tough righty.
  3. But imagine if he shut them down.
  4. Gut feeling? Or something specific about Thorpe and the way he pitches?
  5. I completely forgot he existed.
  6. We might not have many outfielders after the all star break. I imagine Baldwin will be playing every day at that point.
  7. In my mind, I keep penciling in Thorpe for next year’s rotation, but the more I think about it, he likely won’t be ready by the start of next season, right?
  8. Is this a fake ankle sprain to limit innings? Glad to see Brooks back.
  9. I don’t disagree. I want him there, too.
  10. Which part?
  11. With those nine guys in the lineup, how would you line them up? Seems like the only other option is Vargas at 3B, Colson at SS, Chase at 2B, and Sosa at 1B. But I’m terrified of Sosa at 1B after dropping a ball that my son could have caught.
  12. I also hate that he’s not playing SS, but I don’t think this is a case of them deciding Colson can’t play SS. I just think with a lefty pitching, this was a way to get the nine guys Venable wants out there into the lineup.
  13. Good for Charlotte’s offense. You can probably pencil in a Baldwin home run.
  14. We should have taken a safer pick like Vaughn or Madrigal!!
  15. But aren’t we assuming everyone taken in the first couple rounds ARE good in terms of game tools?
  16. What other picks will the Sox make tonight? 44 and 76?
  17. Horrendous first pitch non-strike call on Jones might have changed that entire inning.
  18. 100%. No way Slater goes for that if Robert is calling for it.
  19. Any chance Lee is getting called up (so that Teel and Quero can both play) and Sabol was acquired to catch in AAA?
  20. Update: At the start of the year, I told myself the Sox need to win 5 out of every 16 games to get to 50 wins (and then they’d still have two games to spare). So I will break the season into ten different 16-game chunks. I’ll update every time we finish another 16 games. Here are the results: 4-12 5-11 5-11 7-9 4-12 7-9 Total: 32-64, on pace for 54 wins.
  21. I don’t know much about Gamble at all, but I found it interesting he is labeled as a 2B. Seems rare for a high school infielder not to be labeled as a SS.
  22. Maybe he can produce like that 27 year old the Brewers recently acquired.
  23. Houser getting hammered early, but has had some luck on his side. Seems like it could be 4-0 already.
  24. He definitely dogged it, but there is zero chance that’s an inside the parker, even if he hustled the entire time.
