I thought Monday, April 14 was the date.

Can we PLEASE win today to keep our pace of winning one out of every three games, putting us on pace for 54 wins total, so I can win my over bet.

April 14 is 171 days before October 2. Seems like a great day to make the move, with the Sox having an off day that day before a home series against the A's. Of course, making a move exactly on that date could look shady.

At least two if you count me. I live ten minutes from there.

This game is exactly why it’s tough to win less than 50 games. Baseball is weird. Twins didn’t have any business winning this game, but they got pretty lucky. Sox will have games where the luck is on their side.

Zero balls hit hard. Brutal luck. It all started with two outs and nobody on.

Talk about terrible luck.

Funny thing is that when the Giants did it back in 2013, one of their four starters gave up 2 unearned also.

That’s basically the best way to summarize it. As a baseball coach, I’ve gotten into arguments with opposing coaches about this. The common misconception is that “my base runner has the right to the base path.” That’s false. You have to avoid the defender if the defender is in the process of making a play. If there’s no play, then the defender has to avoid the runner.

In that hypothetical, it doesn’t matter if he has to get back to the bag. You can’t impede the defender trying to make a play. Having said that, I think that’s a terrible call. Zero chance the first baseman gets to that ball, and Slater did attempt to avoid contact. Although, the latter part of my last sentence might not matter.

Why? Just in case he hits a line drive right at an infielder?

I’ll do one better: A week ago, if somebody offered me $1,000,000 to correctly answer which sport and team Nick Maton played for, I wouldn’t be any richer.

Not just “many” teams. Five specific teams. Those GMs must have messaged Bartolo to tell him they were about 90% likely to put in a claim, but all five ultimately decided against it.
