5/13 Sox at Reds (5:40 pm)
What are the rules on saves? I swear when I was growing up, it counted as a save if you came into the game in the last inning with the tying run in the hole. So a three run lead would obviously count, or something like bases loaded with a six run lead. Am I making that up?

Just recently on May 1, 2, 3. We’re awesome now!

Do you mean when? It was April 23.

5/13 Sox at Reds (5:40 pm)
You questioned why the Sox “called for” a fastball right down the middle. You deserved to get called out. First off, it was a breaking ball. Second, nobody calls for it down the middle. Sometimes pitchers miss down the middle.

Anybody have Vargas’ stats since the swing change?

You mean the breaking ball hanging over the middle?

Predict the White Sox win total 2025
At the start of the year, I told myself the Sox need to win 5 out of every 16 games to get to 50 wins (and then they’d still have two games to spare). So I will break the season into ten different 16-game chunks. I’ll update every time we finish another 16 games. Here are the results: 4-12 5-11 Total: 9-23, on pace for 46 wins

And he struck out a guy to end the game with the tying run on third.

4/15 Sox vs. A's 6:40PM CT
Sox need to win 5 out of every 16 games to get to 50 wins (and still have two games to spare). After the first 16, they only won 4. Hoping they win 6 of the next 16 to get back on pace.

Fire Chris Getz
Some people have a hard time thinking rationally when there are struggles and negative outcomes. There could be ten different things that play a part in why a player doesn’t develop, and there could be a different mix of reasons for a different player. But it’s easier to just blame the director, even if the player just isn’t very good to begin with, or if the player lacks the drive or work ethic, or if the player doesn’t like to be coached. It reminds me of how people like to blame the hitting coach when an offense is struggling.

4/12 game thread vs Boston 3:10 first pitch
The funniest part was that they panned to Romy at first as they were showing the replay on the big screen. He motioned the safe signal and said “You were off the bag” to Vaughn. Then he looked so flabbergasted when the call was out.

Chase Meidroth getting promoted
Did we gain the extra year of control? Or did we have to wait a couple more days for that? Either way, I’m happy he’s up. Need something to root for.

4/8 Games
I thought Monday, April 14 was the date.

4/6 Sox @ Tigers 12:40PM CT
Can we PLEASE win today to keep our pace of winning one out of every three games, putting us on pace for 54 wins total, so I can win my over bet.

4/5 Games
Impressive. That’s tough to do.

4/5 Game Thread Sox @ Tigers 1200 pm
I still believe they will be.

4/2 game, they going to get the game in?
April 14 is 171 days before October 2. Seems like a great day to make the move, with the Sox having an off day that day before a home series against the A's. Of course, making a move exactly on that date could look shady.

Arlington Heights making stadium pitch to White Sox?
At least two if you count me. I live ten minutes from there.

4/1 Sox vs. Twins 6:40PM CT
This game is exactly why it’s tough to win less than 50 games. Baseball is weird. Twins didn’t have any business winning this game, but they got pretty lucky. Sox will have games where the luck is on their side.

4/1 Sox vs. Twins 6:40PM CT
Zero balls hit hard. Brutal luck. It all started with two outs and nobody on.

Very well executed. You definitely got me. Nicely done.

3/31 Sox vs. Twins 1:10PM
Funny thing is that when the Giants did it back in 2013, one of their four starters gave up 2 unearned also.

3/31 Sox vs. Twins 1:10PM
That’s basically the best way to summarize it. As a baseball coach, I’ve gotten into arguments with opposing coaches about this. The common misconception is that “my base runner has the right to the base path.” That’s false. You have to avoid the defender if the defender is in the process of making a play. If there’s no play, then the defender has to avoid the runner.
