  1. Swap Rojas out for Meidroth once he’s healthy and I love those 9 guys as a lineup. (disclaimer: I’m using the word “love” loosely. You know, as much as you can love a lineup for the second worst team in baseball)
  2. Even if they had gotten rid of many more players at the deadline, they’d still finish better than last year’s team. It’s really hard to be that bad.
  3. It probably depends on WHY he was getting injured. Was it not taking care of his body in terms of preparation, stretching, etc.? Or was it just because he is an injury prone guy and will always be that way? If he made actual changes this year that has led to the mostly healthy season, then that’s encouraging. I have no idea what the answer is, but he does seem to look better running to first and stealing bases. It could easily be my imagination, but it looks like he’s running less gingerly. Maybe that’s simply because he’s not nursing an injury.
  4. Update: At the start of the year, I told myself the Sox need to win 5 out of every 16 games to get to 50 wins (and then they’d still have two games to spare). So I will break the season into ten different 16-game chunks. I’ll update every time we finish another 16 games. Here are the results: 4-12 5-11 5-11 7-9 4-12 7-9 10-6 Total: 42-70, on pace for 61 wins.
  5. This was my takeaway also. I was still pissed about the game a couple hours later. I haven’t experienced that feeling in a few years, which has to be a good thing in terms of the progress of this team.
  6. Yeah, I’m usually not one to second guess decisions like that, but I don’t understand it. I said “What are we doing here?” as soon he he brought him. Even if he gets the lefty out, he has to face Trout/Ward. Does Alexander have decent splits against righties perhaps? I don’t get it.
  7. Wow. With the way Burke was throwing and with the 5-0 lead, I thought there was no chance we’d lose this game. But not over yet. Let’s see if they can battle.
  8. You and me both. I might not have posted it, but I certainly thought it. And as I’m typing this, he drives in another run.
  9. I was just thinking about this and bumped a post by @Chicago White Sox from June 26 in the Sosa thread. And I didn’t bump it to call him out. Most of us felt the same way. Crazy how things have changed.
  10. It’s absolutely wild how our perception of Colson has changed in just a little over a month. You and I, and probably everyone else, did not envision Colson being a major part of the future core. Now he’s been one of the best players in the game since the all-star break.
  11. He’s back as the DH. Moncada not in the lineup.
  12. Vargas was scratched, Julks inserted into the lineup in LF, Baldwin moved from LF to 3B, Rojas moved from 3B to 2B, and Sosa moved from 2B to 1B.
  13. This is exactly how I feel. The downside is wasting $20M, but isn’t that actually also a win? Everybody here would be thrilled to rip $20M from JR’s wallet.
  14. That sounds about right. Maybe hitting in Charlotte can give him some confidence.
  15. I feel like there was a stretch where he was hitting pretty well. Maybe it was the month before the last 30 days that you are referencing?
  16. Same here. But boy was it fun to watch on Gamecast like it was 2002.
  17. Sorry that you had to change the 3 to a 4 and then the 4 to a 5 in the title before hitting submit. But nice win! That was fun.
  18. Exactly. His pitch count was low and this is the first game of the series. Use the bullpen as little as possible. If we weren’t about to trade him, nobody would question sending him out there for the 7th. And those three runs won’t change his trade value.
  19. This was my first thought.
  20. I always thought of it as Fedde for Vargas and then Kopech for the two young guys.
  21. So hope he continues playing well for the remainder of the season, pick up the option, throw in $10 million to the team you trade him to, and then that team gets Robert on a 1 year, $10M deal with an option for the next year?
  22. I think he lost his release point more than he lost his focus.
