**consults a mid-season top 20 list from this random guy on the internet** … Agreed! Definitely not in the top 25, that’s for sure.
-
Any chance we can change the thread title to Trade Deadline? I don’t know why, but “Trading” Deadline is driving me crazy.
-
Thanks, James. Good stuff. Not sure if you can edit it still, but you took your finger off the shift key too quickly in your paragraph on the #1 overall pick.
-
But they got their 27th win on July 10! 🤣🤣🤣 That’s pretty remarkable, actually.
-
It was honestly the worst umpiring I’ve seen the entire season in terms of balls and strikes.
-
In only four games, he raised his OPS from .622 to .741.

Regular ChatGPT couldn’t help me, so I tried the deep research feature. This is what it gave me. Trust at your own peril. Monday: 1-6 Tuesday: 4-9 Wednesday: 3-9 Thursday: 4-7 Friday: 6-7 Saturday: 5-9 Sunday: 5-9

Why do you hate it? You’re out if it’s hit right at someone and he fields it clean, but even if that happens, you need a hit from the next guy anyway. You can steal some runs if it’s not hit right at a guy or if the throw is slightly off.

His OPS is up to .708. I’m not saying that as a counter to the overall point you are making, but he’s not under .700 as of now.
-
Absolutely crazy that his OPS is up to .708. It was .622 three games ago.
-
Yeah, this is a great point. No way someone is willing to change their swing/approach when they are dominating every level.
-
Colson raised his OPS from .622 to .673 last night. Pretty crazy that can happen in one game. 3-4 with two HR and a BB.
-
Oh, the AJ play was luck, without a doubt. But I think they win that World Series with or without any luck.
-
Crede’s walk off against Cleveland on September 20 might have been the biggest hit of the entire regular season.
-
They had a dominating run through the regular season and post season. They had a great/reliable rotation and a lineup that had all the pieces you need to be successful back then (good lead off man, 2 hitter that could move guys over at will, RBI guys, and clutch hitters like Crede in the bottom half. They had a manager that everyone loved playing for. It wasn’t luck. It was a once in a lifetime “team” that you rarely see.

Fantastic summary. I’ve been following him closely this year as well, and the turnaround this past month has been awesome to see.
-
Nice to win the first game of the next 16 game stretch. Although for the last 16 games, they won 2 of the first 3 and only ended up 4-12.

6/25 getaway day game thread vs AZ

Ok, Sosa. -
I’ll take it. One less win, and I’ll have 420 less dollars.
-
Update: At the start of the year, I told myself the Sox need to win 5 out of every 16 games to get to 50 wins (and then they’d still have two games to spare). So I will break the season into ten different 16-game chunks. I’ll update every time we finish another 16 games. Here are the results: 4-12 5-11 5-11 7-9 4-12 Total: 25-55, on pace for 51 wins. Halfway there, and they’ve won exactly 5 out of every 16 games.

Charlotte was up 3-1 heading to the bottom of the ninth and Anderson struck out the first two guys in the inning. Then walk, single, single, walk, walk, walk. Game over.
-
And if he had a great first half, it would have been a horrible decision to move him in the winter. And if you were sure he’d be bad this year, then you shouldn’t have refused to give a prediction on his WAR this year when I asked you to make one.
