  1. That's excellent....getting the hit tool to be passable is the key. The power is there in spades. And Big George is still young for this level
  2. I wish Bannister would also talk more about what Schultz is working on to get RHH out.
  3. We aren't rushing him. He has totally owned that level and it's not a small sample size either. He has played 51 games and has a WRC+ of 148 with an absurd walk rate of close to 20%. He isn't being challenged there by the pitching. Move him up to High A. Braden should also be promoted to AA at some point in the very near future. Just get that BA up a bit and improve contact and get the K rate back down under 20%. It shouldnt be too long with Braden if he can keep hitting well and with power and keeping Ks in relative check, maybe a few more weeks. Zavala should also hopefully see some substantial time in AA this year too if he can keep hitting well at the plate as he has done recently.
  4. Why hasn't Bonemer been promoted?
  5. Possibly....maybe by end of the month?
  6. I want to see how much AA takes out of his bat. That will be a huge leap for him, esp at only age 20.
  7. His arm at SS looks weak for the position to me but his OAA and his fangraphs defensive rating are both very good. I dont know how much of those stats are for his 2B vs SS performance but yeah Colson is likely to be a butcher at SS by comparison, so 3B is long term home for the latter. Still, I dont think it hurts to give Colson several games at SS just to have some tape to evaluate him at SS on before they make a decision. They can switch off for awhile. Vargas metrics are bad at 3B and would be better at 1B.
  8. I wonder if they are trying to show the league he can be a light out closer so they can move him at the deadline? I dont see any upside in starting his clock now since we aren't going to be winning anything this year and prolly not next year, so there's no need for a closer, so I don't see what they are trying to accomplish unless they're showing him off to contending teams.
  9. We were hoping he'd be a good SP
  10. Nice! Maybe Braden and Zavala will move up to AA in July.
  11. I think his BABIP just came down to earth...for awhile it was like 350 or 360 and just the other day I looked and it was down to 280 that may explain some of his slump so I expect things will prolly even out in a positive direction. He hits the ball very hard so he should be an above average BABIP player normally, certainly nothing like 350 that's not sustainable but he could be a guy that is routinely around 315 or so. I still think he will likely be in AA at some point in the summer and perhaps in Chicago in the latter part of next year.
  12. Braden 1-2 with a double and a walk so far.
  13. He needs to develop a weapon to get RHH out.
  14. Yes. They actually have a decent core of positional players that look solid. Meidroth with his good D and great OBP looks like a 3 WAR guy (hat tip to @Chicago White Sox). Vargas is hitting and while his D isn't good, he would prolly be a fine 2 WAR 1B. Colson should slide in at 3B and provide solid D and good LH power with hopefully decent OBP. I think the Teel/Quero combo at C is promising, although there will be growing pains. They just need a couple more decent pieces....unfortunately our trade capital for the deadline isn't great unless they move Martin.
  15. Very solid. Need Braden to heat up again too.
  16. That sounds good! Ofcourse it's Merkin so even a root canal would be phrased as a positive development too.
  17. Eh it's just his BABIP evening out.
  18. I haven't seen any of his defensive play this year, does it look like he can stick at SS at least for a couple years?
  19. I dont think we need to see two straight months of very good performance. I think a couple more weeks and bring him up. Give him a shot to prove he can stick at SS. Maybe bring Teel up in a couple weeks as well if his work behind the plate looks good. Braden should be getting promoted to AA pretty soon as well.
  20. That might be Colson's best night at the plate of his whole career! 4/4, 2 HRs, 2 doubles and a walk. Damn...Fuller is awesome. If Colson keeps it up for a couple more weeks, call him up and let him play at SS and 3B.
  21. What's his OPS since he came back?
  22. Call up the savage!
  23. It's ok....if he's making contact and high EV it will eventually find the holes. This is good. Alot better than 3 Ks a game.
  24. Good. Focus on contact right now...we know the power is there.
  25. Super impressive at his age. Should be in High A soon. I hope he can stick at SS.
