Your 2023 Off-Season Plan
I don't think Hahn is a great GM, but TLR controlled resource allocation the last few years. Now RH has to unwind a bullpen heavy payroll.

TA likes ominous tweet: The trade Anderson thread
Baseball Trade Values has Busch, Outman and Pepiot almost identical in value to Anderson, FWIW. Man, get Correa and Swanson signed already, we need legit Sox moves

Perhaps not but he's still going to get well over 100m on his next deal and it won't be here so we might as well restock the cupboard now rather than getting nothing later.

https://www.mlb.com/prospects/dodgers/michael-busch-683737 This scouting report suggests he could stick at 2B. 45 sounds much better than 30-35.

@Pal is CWS insisting on Lux as the main piece from LAD?

Lefty hitting 2B prospect that is MLB ready (or very close to it) with a great bat and awful glove.

I've heard from a LAD friend that they really don't want to give up Lux and prolly would offer Busch instead who is really more of a 1B than 2B and that doesn't help us really. On the other hand, we don't care about defense so maybe RH will be fine with Busch if they add in something else on top of him, Pepiot and Outman.

LA would be a good trade fit. Get Lux, Outman and Pepiot ASAP.

Now that Bogaerts went to SD, trade market has to be warming up. Correa is the next shoe to drop and we should be sitting pretty.

Now that SS market is moving, let's see if TA trade takes off.

Liam Hendriks coming up in trade discussions
Not by itself it won't, but in tandem with probably one other roster player trade they could probably address like 3-4 spots between freeing up cash and the actual return.

Nah....CWS is right. If they dont trade TA and solve multiple roster needs cheaply in one shot, they have to create payroll space somehow in another way and his value should be high with the money RPs are getting. They made a decision to artificially set a tight budget and there's too much money in the pen. We are gonna have to rob Peter to pay Paul somehow to address needs, it's just a question of who is getting robbed and where the benefit will go.

It could also be Yolbert. He's in AAA now and while his offense cratered once he made the leap from AA to AAA, isn't his defense good? You can bat him 9th. That would be an ultra cheap option.

Oops I forgot about him good point. Point remains they will go with cheap bridge for a year either way. Prolly move Robert up to leadoff I would assume.

The Legendary one in a platoon with some cheap defense first SS most likely as a bridge for a year until Montgomery, assuming he sticks at the position (if not, he will replace Moncada instead).

The latter and I bet that's the hangup. Chicago is insisting on Lux and LAD is saying no here's a package of guys like Busch, Outman etc and we aren't biting. If Bogaerts resigns with BOS that will hurt our leverage.

I assume Chicago is insisting on Lux as the main piece here (didn't KW want to pick him in 16 with the pick they used on Burdi but he went off the board right before?). It solves cost controlled LHH 2B issue and then they have the flexibility of dealing some of those guys like Sosa, Rodriguez etc. And LAD is prolly saying no but we will give you Busch instead who is really just a 1B. And maybe ask for Outman and Pepiot too but then we would need to throw something else into the pot (worth about 4m in SV) to even it out. Lux, Pepiot and Outman for Anderson plus something small.

Interesting. Gotta see what happens with Bogaerts and the other SS's first I assume. If none of them go to LAD or BOS then I assume something will happen

Ugh no......need BOS to come up empty so they can be in the TA trade market.

Ok that's good. If TA and a pitcher (LG or LH) are both going, return should be huge.

Sorry bro, I can't spend 15 bucks on your food when I only have 7 dollars. Did you know the gyro plate has a side Greek salad and that cucumber yogurt so it's still good value. JR would also like to point out that you can also sit at the booth/table for free while you enjoy your meal, which is an underrated and unappreciated benefit.

I'll get you a gyro plate if you give us good legit info. Baseball Trade Values says that's a roughly equal trade.

Winter Meetings Thread
I think they have backup plans but its not stuff people would love. For example on that podcast with McGuffey, Garfein kept putting Gallo out there multiple times and pumping him up so im assuming if they don't trade for a good LH OF, they will circle back to Gallo for like 1 yr 7-8m or something. I think they are gonna address the needs for sure, it's just an issue of meaningfully addressing them or just half ass addressing them, but either way I don't expect 1B pretending to be OF in both corners again and I think at a minimum there will be a cheap platoon LH 2B.

I dont think it was headed for disaster either way. They played hard and mostly good when they didn't hate the manager. I dont think it was headed to a World Series, either, because they still aren't willing to spend like a big time club, but it wasn't headed for .500 baseball with this roster. They probably would have won a couple more division titles and maybe a playoff series or two in this window. They still would be inferior to HOU and NYY and wouldn't have gotten past either in an ALCS or ALDS if they got that draw but they wouldn't have been this bad without TLR
