  1. Just have a hunch, LaRussa being old school isn't looking for a rotating DH. Just like he got his way with a lockdown closer, he's going to get a DH. With each passing day, If that Nelson Cruz prize tag drops to the $10 million range for one season, you have to make a play. The guy still posted elite numbers last season. I have no problem Vaughn getting a full Minor League season under his belt.
  2. Right, but different times. Sox were losing 100 games when Giolito was a project. You can't afford projects when looking to contend for a World Series.
  3. Colome's ERA and Save stats are a great example of stats that lie.
  4. We've reached the point of this discussion of comparing save stats as to who is better. At least it's not ERA comparison. But still dumb no doubt.
  5. I agree, which makes it even more obvious there wouldn't be a need for a guy like Hand. Especially for a team where every $ counts. Now assuming Hand can be had for 2 years, that I would be interested in vs 4 years of Hendricks. Despite Hendricks being the much better pitcher for a high leverage playoff game come 2021 and 2022.
  6. Not a fan of the stuff. He gets outs and by some optical illusion gets Ks. But I don't trust that kind of stuff in very high leverage playoff situations.
  7. Very few relievers sustain long term effectiveness to validate anything more than a 3 year deal. The last thing you want to be stuck with is another Kelvin Herrera. And that's a guy who was constantly sitting at 99-100 before he went to Washington and then came here to die. Hendricks is 95-96 Hand - (no thanks)
  8. You literally said : "Liam Hendriks and Brad Hand?"
  9. Jesus, this is how the lunacy starts with this fanbase. You hear two names mentioned and now they better get both or bust. THEY'RE STRUGGLING TO CLOSE THE DEAL FOR ONE GUY!
  10. CBA is coming, MLBPA might finally give in to a salary cap as long as it comes in with a floor. Just too many teams are refusing to employ serviceable veteran players at this point.
  11. The "Jerry is Cheap and Sky is Falling" reaction portion of this thread will probably double this one in size.
  12. Yes, even if they add Springer and Bauer I'd still take the White Sox Roster and more important their division competition.
  13. Liam Hendricks thread going 65 pages long. 2 years ago no one even had a clue who he was. Amazing.
  14. Was the closing role solidified going into 2020, that's the real question? A significant portion of the Sox fanbase wanted nothing to do with Colome going into 2020.
  15. Bullpens are such a crapshoot. Going into 2020, Bummer was the only guy I had faith in. We came out of that season with not having an issue if Colome, Bummer, Marshall, Heuer, Crochet, Foster and even Fry at times getting the ball for a crucial out/inning in any game. While a guy like Hendricks would definitely put a lot of confidence for me on that pen come 2021, this "sky is falling" feeling many folks have if we miss on Hendricks is a bit being paranoid. Again, would love to have Hendricks. But it's not the end of the world.
  16. I don't see how this is water carrying or disgusting. 4 Years is a bit long for a relief pitcher. When these guys hit the wall, it's unbearable. (see Kelvin Herrera)
  17. How is this a bad thing, haven't people been screaming for a new front office for a long time?
  18. Have the Sox already mentioned this? And if so, why would you sign a $10 million placeholder like Quintana when you eventually have to open up a spot for Kopech? Wouldn't Lopez be the placeholder then? Again, I don't see the need for going after another SP (since resources are limited).
