  1. QUOTE(SoxFan562004 @ May 3, 2007 -> 04:17 PM) I tend to agree with you about the brand extension not making a whole bunch of sense. The reason I think he keeps it hanging around is the luxury of having 2 main titles. He has 4 hours of TV to fill a week and a lot of superstars to keep happy. It's easier for him to do that with 2 titles than 1. Good point about the straps, but I actually think it was a more effective buildup when the federations each had one "main" title and numerous "2nd tier" titles like the U.S., television and Intercontinental titles. (having a few different tag titles also helped keep guys happy). I know each brand still has separate titles, but most casual fans just see all WWE wrestlers as similar, not a Raw wrestler or SmackDown wrestler. I really believe that having so many "world title" matches kind of dilutes the concept of the world title. ...of course, handing the belt over to guys, as opposed to them legitimately winning them, also dilutes the concept...
  2. QUOTE(Soxfest @ May 3, 2007 -> 03:08 PM) WWE today cancelled 2nd annual ECW December to Remember PPV. VKM has made ECW irrelavent! It's so irrelevant that you got the PPV's name wrong! It is.....sorry, WAS....December To Dismember! I no longer think Vince is trying to kill ECW. I think he's just trying (and succeeding) to water it down enough to just be a third brand. Which is the exact opposite of what I think he should do. The "brand extension" has run its course, and he inadvertently admits this when he crosses "superstars" over from show to show.
  3. I got apathy. Apathy split-decision over indifference. Indifference gets screwed over by the judges...............but doesn't really get too upset about it.
  4. QUOTE(MHizzle85 @ May 3, 2007 -> 10:18 AM) oops, thats what happens when i'm up late studying for finals. In case they ask, the Revolutionary War lasted 8 years, not 8 months.
  5. Old. Short. Ohhhh, you want numbers? 43. 5' 9".
  6. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ May 3, 2007 -> 05:46 AM) Iowanish. Get it along the Amish theme at least. Iowish.....I'd never clicked on this thread......
  7. Jeez, I was just trying to make conversation..... QUOTE(Iwritecode @ May 2, 2007 -> 12:15 PM) I remember reading once that the average height for a human has gone up over the years. It said that the average man today wouldn't fit in an average-sized suit of armor from the medevil times. I dunno about the suit of armor, but I know I'd have a hell of a time trying to squeeze into the old-time codpieces.
  8. 50% clay, 50% grass, 100% stupid. I want to see a tennis court that's 25% nails sticking up from wooden planks, 25% quicksand, 25% shark-infested water and 25% Jell-O. EXTREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEME TENNISSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!
  9. QUOTE(Brian @ May 1, 2007 -> 07:42 PM) Worse people could be champion than Shance McMahon. I wanna see where the ECW angle is going before I bash Vince as champion. The pictures of him with the belt on wwe.com are funny. I just don't like the idea on general principle. The 60-year-old owner shouldn't hold the strap, in my opinion, no matter how funny the owner can be. I really do enjoy Vince's character for the most part, but he's been too involved lately for my liking. Same thing for Shane - a part-time performer (and son of the owner) shouldn't hold any title, except maybe a joke title like the Hardcore title.
  10. QUOTE(Brian @ May 1, 2007 -> 07:36 PM) That sucks for Taker. He has never held that World Title belt and I think it would of done a lot for its credibility for the Undertaker to have a nice run with it. Matt Hardy for World Heavyweight Champion! =) .....or Shane McMoney..... Then bring back Stephy McHelmsley to take the Women's Strap and shut down WWE for good.
  11. First I ask them how the weather is up there. (That's always an awesome ice-breaker) Then I challenge them to a slam-dunk contest. (I let them win) Then I ask them to clean my gutters for me. (Selfish pricks always say no) Then I think of original nicknames for them like Stretch or Phone Pole or or Stilts or Manute Bol. They usually get pissed at some point, but I just keep running through their legs and they get frustrated cuz they can't catch me all the way down here. Then, to be nice, I offer them a ride wherever they're going, and I let them know it's cool cuz my car has a sunroof for their head. So yeah, we get along.
  12. Dead men get no "owie's".....or do they???? [credit wrestlingobserver.com via lordsofpain.net] What was originally planned to be a long-term title reign for The Undertaker could come to a quick halt, reports WrestlingObserver.com. The wrestler suffered a biceps tear prior to Sunday's Backlash PPV; following the match, he was in "tremendous pain." The muscle is noticeably rolled up, which implies a complete tear off the bone and a six-to-eight month recovery period. Undertaker committed to working a more regular WWE schedule for the purpose of long-term title reign, but if the injury is as serious as most believe, he'll be forced to drop the belt soon. He was to be evaluated by Dr. James Andrews Tuesday afternoon. After determining if Undertaker will be required to drop the belt, WWE will then have to decide whether or not it can safely be done via a match. ....I smell a Vince McMahon UNIFIED CHAMPION RUN......and it doesn't smell good.....
  13. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Apr 30, 2007 -> 11:36 PM) Cheechoo. Gasundheit.
  14. QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Apr 30, 2007 -> 08:57 PM) Drop Umaga and bring back the Island Boys. This Umaga/RVD match is awful. (This goes without saying, but I'll say it anyway)
  15. QUOTE(LowerCaseRepublican @ Apr 30, 2007 -> 08:32 PM) Um...Santino Marella anyone? This gimmick is so f***ing stupid. There are others in WWECW to hold the title and have fans to buy it but they won't put the strap on them due to politics etc. I'd love to see an RVD vs CM Punk feud for the title and build Punk up even higher. Well, the RVD Job-A-Thon is most likely underway since he rejected a contract extension, so I doubt he'll sniff a title match unless it's to get destroyed. Hillbilly Jim + title belt = Santino Marella. And the politics just adds to my point - Vince is more interested in holding people "in their place" than he is in building a product that fans can really enjoy. It's really awful, and it's the main reason I'm hoping (but not expecting) that TNA can build something strong enough to spark the competitive side of Vince.
  16. QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Apr 30, 2007 -> 08:27 PM) Unless Wikipedia is not accurate, nope. Wow, Vince only has one more title reign than David Arquette? He sucks. HA!
  17. QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Apr 30, 2007 -> 08:25 PM) I was actually curious about this so I looked it up earlier. To my surprise, this is only his second ever title reign, the first he lost the WWE championship a few days after he won it. No tag title reigns? Or Hardcore titles?
  18. QUOTE(Brian @ Apr 30, 2007 -> 07:22 PM) I'm gonna get flamed for this, but Vince McMahon gives the ECW title more credibility than Shane Douglas ever gave it. Shane was so overrated and couldn't get over unless he swore up a storm. Vince doesn't needs to swear and has more ring psychology than most guys these days. I don't expect him to hold it for long, but I don't think it is as big a deal as everyone makes it. This isn't the ECW of the mid 90's. Vince holding any title is an admission of failure to develop believable main-eventers. Don't get me wrong, I find Vince enjoyable in small doses, but to have the owner hold any of the belts (and how many different title reigns has Vince had by now?) diminishes the entire roster in my opinion. Lashley is an abject failure as any sort of champion or top-level performer, but is there no one else in ECWWE who can hold the title and have fans buy into it? It's desperate booking for shock value, and it succeeds short-term but fails in the long run.
  19. I was 14. That was a fun year, but I have to admit that I liked the 1972 team better.
  20. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Apr 27, 2007 -> 07:23 PM) bump for a Detroit loss last night bump for a Detroit "gotta have it, backs against the wall, comeback from down 2-0" win today.
  21. As revenge for a practical joke, one comedian tells the audience at an open-mic night not to laugh at his friend's act. It's REALLY awkward. (F-bombs begin to fly, so NSFW) http://www.vimeo.com/clip:175519 My favorite line: "There could've been industry people there!"
  22. Cintron obviously taking a page from Thome's playbook with the walk.
  23. QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Apr 27, 2007 -> 12:07 PM) And yet somehow the B-52's made it 25 years. Death Sentence's cover of "Planet Claire" is quite good.
  24. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Apr 26, 2007 -> 07:18 PM) As bad as her music is, it's unfortunately better than probably 99% of the 'alt/indie' crap out there today. It is an interesting phenomenon how she's gone from being unlistenable crap to being seen as some sort of alt-rock icon/influence. I know the B-52's gushed over her, even having her onstage for a landmark show of theirs (25th anniversary show in 2002).
  25. QUOTE(Damen @ Apr 26, 2007 -> 06:01 PM) Well she's headlining, so hopefully that means I can just leave early whichever day she makes god cry with her squeals. Early exit >>> Bathroom break. QUESTION: Better use of laryngitis - Yoko Ono or Ron Santo?
