  1. QUOTE(BobDylan @ Oct 27, 2006 -> 04:44 AM) Maybe it's just me, but I've thought that every song The Killers has made is complete trash. I'm sure you're not the only one who holds that opinion, but I would disagree with that opinion. I like most of the songs on Hot Fuss, although I'm disappointed with the new disc. I like the "retro alternative" sound of the Killers, Interpol, She Wants Revenge, and so on, but I can certainly understand how some people wouldn't like it.
  2. QUOTE(greg775 @ Oct 26, 2006 -> 11:40 PM) That said, it's not over yet. The Cardinals are equally mediocre and could easily drop the next 3. Cards starter had nothing tonight. I was amazed at Maggs' horrific at bats tonight. He was getting some meat to hack at. Tigers are in a funk right now. All this is very true. I don't expect the Cardinals to choke, but it's certainly not impossible. They've been the lesser of two sucks so far. When David Eckstein has to lead you to victory, you ain't stompin' on nobody. Edmonds looks overmatched on fastballs and Albert had an off-night, going 0-for-2 and hitting into a big double play with the tying and lead runs on base early. If the Series goes back to Detroit, Rogers seems to be unbeatable there. If the Series gets to game 7, throw everything out the window because the Birds would DEFINITELY be feeling the pressure then. The word I heard on the radio to describe Magglio last night was "disinterested", and I'd have to agree. He just looked slow and lethargic. I can't imagine how someone could lose concentration during the World Series, but that's what it looks like from him.
  3. Ahhhhh, what an unforgettable day that was..... One win EARLY in the morning, one win late into the night! And the best part is, it will only get sweeter as time goes by. ...unless another 88 years go by before another one....
  4. I guess Courtney Hole would've made more money holding onto the 25% of the Nirvana catalogue she sold than she did by selling it. She'll just have to make up the difference with the huge sales of her next CD.....
  5. I'm honestly not trying to start anything, but I have to say that the lineup for those two days talked me out of even signing up for the free trial. There's nothing there that I want to listen to, although I'd imagine that there's something on other channels I'd probably like. I just don't listen to enough radio anymore to justify paying for it.
  6. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Oct 24, 2006 -> 09:54 PM) I guess that's what happens when you take > a week off sometimes. Yeah, especially a fireballer. I'd imagine control would be the main problem if you fling it at 100mph and don't get regular work.
  7. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Oct 24, 2006 -> 09:50 PM) He needs to serve up a HR, and get America some free tacos. I'd be glad to see a Cards HR, but I probably wouldn't even go get the taco.
  8. Zumaya melting down this inning. Can't throw a strike to home plate or 3rd base.
  9. QUOTE(Benchwarmerjim @ Oct 24, 2006 -> 08:26 PM) as an outsider to the Cubs fandom, I see Giradi as an inspired choice. Something little different. No one really gave the Marlins a chance, but he managed them to respectablity this year. One year fluke? maybe, but whats the Cubs got to lose With Pinella, I see a tired. uninspried, 'same ol same ol' choice. But again, what does the Cub franchise got to lose here. When things are down, you can take bets and when Lou will blow up on an umpire The way my Cub fan friends saw it was that Piniella at least indicates an urgency to try to win now. He's an older manager who likely wouldn't take the job without some assurance from management that they'll try to acquire proven veterans. Girardi would have signalled the likelihood of a youth movement, and that phrase is like a kick in the nuts to Cub fans. They've waited long enough, at least the ones I know have. What my friends were fearing most was a no-name, inexpensive, minor-league callup type of manager. A Pat Listach or someone like that. They're happy they didn't have that happen.
  10. QUOTE(MHizzle85 @ Oct 24, 2006 -> 07:19 PM) Wow, hate Girardi much? It's either hate or recognizing Girardi for what he is.
  11. I like me some ESPN Classic bowling action!!! [Chris Schenkel] "...if Earl Anthony can get a strike and 8 in the 10th frame, he will close out Nelson Burton Jr. and win the Firestone Classic here in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and the grand prize check for $5,000...." [/Chris Schenkel]
  12. That Border Toss LAX gave to Gail Kim on the last Impact! was pretty sick. She takes better bumps than Jeff Jarrett, but then again, who doesn't? They're handling Angle really well so far - he's an important part of the storylines, but doesn't have to do anything too physical yet. Raven is looking more and more like Axl Rotten or Brian Knobbs, and THAT ain't good for Raven.
  13. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Oct 23, 2006 -> 11:05 AM) Looks like I landed a job with the Daily Herald sports department. Look Out, Mariotti, you got competition!!! Congrats, Tony!
  14. Just watched SportsCenter's discussion of Kenny Rogers' "dirty hand", and to the surprise of no one, Dusty Baker had no problem with Rogers having a substance on his hand because "let's face it, he's been dealing". What a SHOCKER that the manager of Barry Bonds and Sammy Sosa would only be interested in the performance and not how the performance might have been "aided". to The Dust.
  15. Maybe the broken finger can explain why Khabibulin couldn't catch a puck to save his life last night. Freakin' rebound machine.
  16. Words can't describe how absolutely awful Jake Roberts looked and sounded in the ring on TNA Impact. Gadzooks. He may still have a smidge of "name value", but he has zero value otherwise.
  17. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Oct 21, 2006 -> 11:02 PM) Another 1 goal loss in a game the Hawks should have won tonight. *sighs* They really shouldn't have won tonight. They let the Blues take the play to them for most of the 2nd and 3rd periods, and that was the LEAST urgency I think I've ever seen from a team with the goalie pulled for an extra "attacker". The Blues earned the win and deserved it.
  18. QUOTE(Goober @ Oct 19, 2006 -> 10:05 AM) the player wouldn't accept that. I dunno about that, what's the conversion rate?
  19. Figures Havlat gets hobbled the night before I'm going to the UC. Dammit.
  20. Phil Lynott of Thin Lizzy. That band was getting better and better as they got heavier and more metal-inclined. Drugs ruined his relationship with the group, and eventually killed him. Damn shame.
  21. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Oct 20, 2006 -> 08:36 PM) Nick and Aaron Carter. In the ring. On Friday Night Smackdown. W. T. F!?!?!?! I didn't see it, thank God, but my first thought upon reading your post was: "I DARE them to no-sell for Regal or Finlay!!!"
  22. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Oct 20, 2006 -> 11:02 AM) Yawn. Chuckle, then yawn for me. It is pretty amazing how something like that can go unnoticed for that amount of time, given the number of stories which were written and aired about it.
  23. QUOTE(CardsJimEdmonds15 @ Oct 20, 2006 -> 12:56 PM) I'm just glad despite all the struggles our team is back in the World Series.. of course we dont stand a chance but I'll take that chance.. We didnt stand a chance of making the playoffs.. made em.. didnt stand a chance to beat the Padres.. beat em.. didnt stand a chance against the Mets.. beat em.. dont stand a chance against the Tigers? We'll see what happens.. Honestly I just want my team to show up in the WS this year and get a couple wins at that.. a WS title would be amazing though.. the chances of that happening arent great but who knows? That's why they play the games! The only part of this I'd disagree with slightly is that the Padres were a toss-up at best. They didn't exactly inspire huge confidence in anyone. That said, I am VERY happy that the Redbirds made it to the Series, and I'm hoping for a 1990 Reds-type performance from them! Cardinals!!!!
  24. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Oct 19, 2006 -> 09:32 AM) Game was pretty fun last night, had 1st row in the UD. What was the announced crowd, and how close was the number to the actual attendance?
  25. QUOTE(Rex Kicka** @ Oct 18, 2006 -> 03:56 PM) London's fun. Heathrow is not. Stansted neither. My personality (disorder) commands that I get to the airport STUPID early, as I expect every airport to be brutal. I don't mind sitting around - I LOVE to read, so I could happily go through an entire book if I had to. Luckily, my wife also loves to read, and doesn't really mind if I just shut up and read for a while.
