  1. Keep it. Give me a "GUILLEN 13" jersey any day of the week. Ozzie's a better leader anyway!

  3. QUOTE(Texsox @ Nov 27, 2005 -> 11:36 AM) I hope that boy gets some help coping. He has got to feel terrible. I couldn't imagine that. One of my Scouts and his mom have allergies to Penicillin and aspirin. I am always reminding the other adults in charge if anything happens to them, remind the Doctors. We also keep medical treatment forms available with abbreviated histories and notes. I'm also allergic to penicillin. I wonder if I should get some kind of tag or bracelet or something to state that fact, in case I can't speak should I ever need medical assistance?
  4. QUOTE(SEALgep @ Nov 27, 2005 -> 10:39 AM) Actually, he sucks at turning DP's. I was trying to be nice....
  5. s***, that's gonna stay with him for a long time. I wonder if he knew about the allergy? I'm not suggesting in ANY WAY that he did anything intentionally, I'm just wondering if he had any idea that she had a peanut allergy. Hours had passed anyway, who'd think that it could still trigger something that much later? Wow, that's a sad story.
  6. QUOTE(Texsox @ Nov 27, 2005 -> 08:28 AM) Substitute tortillas for bread because they travel better. Grab your backpack and a tent, sleeping bag, pad, Whisperlite camp stove and fuel, small fry pan, brick of cheddar, clarified butter. Hike to the top of the Chisos Mountains in Big Bend. Unpack and fire up the whiperlite. Heat up water for your Ramen noodles, pour water into insulated mug and add SweetSue pouch chicken. Spread a little of the clarified butter onto tortilla and begin heating. Slice cheese onto tortilla. Butter second tortilla, and flip when bottom tortilla begins to brown. When second tortilla is brown and cheese has melted, remove from pan. Enjoy your grilled cheese while 6 miles from the closest road and enjoying a 100 mile view into Mexico. Deer will wander through your campsite, so keep a clean camp. Don't be alarmed that suddenly there are a billion more stars then you are use to seeing. Without any light for hundreds of miles, and no major sources of pollution, you can see so many more stars. While sitting back leaning against a bolder, add some water to the instant pudding you brought, mix thoroughly, add crumbled graham crackers and some marshmallows for a portable smore delight. While finishing up the smores, heat some water. After finishing your mug of smores, add hot water to the mug and a coffee single pouch. Swirl around and clean the sides of the mug making a cafe mocha. Use the remainder of the hot water to finish any cleaning your mug may need. Decide the weather is too nice to stay in a tent and drag your pad and sleeping bad outside and drift off to sleep under the coolest blanket of stars imaginable. I ain't travelin' to goddamn TEXAS for a cheese sammich!!! Pepper Jack cheese with bacon makes a scrumptrulescent cheese sandwich!!!
  7. I can't wait to see Sox Pride. The WS video was excellent. MANY thanks to Comcast for showing these videos!!!
  8. While I'm not sure, I don't think the Vegas comment was meant to be disrespectful. The Marlins have hinted at wanting to move, after all. I just hope there's a way for them to stay in Florida, but it looks kind of bleak, since they can't get a baseball-only stadium built and the crowds just don't come out like they should. The Marlins have already won TWO World Series, for crying out loud! What keeps Florida fans away from the ballpark?
  9. QUOTE(TLAK @ Nov 27, 2005 -> 07:53 AM) Quick questions: Is Furcal done with his DUIs? He was convicted twice and I think he spent some time in jail. Will the contract include a 'keeper' to get him to the park on time like the Black Hawks tried with Theo Fluery? If they got Soriano and Todd Walker is not part of the deal, will that assure Walker a roster spot as a late inning 2B defensive replacement? Walker might keep a spot as a pinch hitter/spot starter, but a defensive specialist? I'd doubt it. He's better defensively than he gets credit for, but I wouldn't label him a late-inning defensive guy. His range is adequate at best, and he is just OK at turning the DP. His hands are pretty good, but I'd say he's always around more for his bat than his glove.
  10. QUOTE(bmags @ Nov 26, 2005 -> 03:08 PM) we have won trades, we won the marte trade, we won the Uribe trade, IMO we won the Garcia trade, we definately won the Contreras trade...KW has won a lot of his trades, he's only made 1 abominable one (Ritchie), one bad one (Wells, though due to sirotka being injured and we really lost no one, gained no one...wash i say), and add another one to the win column for Bartolo Colon. The rest were pretty fair (lee, thome, Blum) Even in the trades that KW has "won", he's given the other team someone they wanted, so he's not out to steal players. It's such a crapshoot when you make ANY trade - somebody might get hurt, or struggle in their new surroundings, or sometimes the player "thrown in" to a deal could end up being the marquee player. I think KW is respected as a GM who honestly WANTS the deal to work for both teams, so the other team will want to deal with him again. I think there are other GMs who only care about who they get, and they can come off as snakes.
  11. QUOTE(3E8 @ Nov 26, 2005 -> 01:20 PM) /career fixed.
  12. QUOTE(LDF @ Nov 26, 2005 -> 12:50 PM) good post, however, a gamble as you said, is risky in giving up the prospects without getting more in return. i guess it is in what people see is the value of what we gave up. is thome healthy and is he fully recovered, how long can we expect to see him play and still be productive, these are my concerns. Yep, any gamble is risky. The Sox brass had to decide if the possible risk is worth the potential reward. They decided that it is, and I'm not going to disagree at this point. They've earned a LOT of latitude from me, and that trophy I peeped last Wednesday at City Hall is the reason why. One line of thinking is that a repeat is the only lateral move for next year, so why not gamble when anything less than a World Series repeat can be considered a less successful season?
  13. You have to take it on a case by case basis. If the deal makes sense, I have no problem with dealing prospects. To me, the Thome deal is a good gamble. Thome's injury seems to be healed, from all reports, and he's very productive when healthy. A lefty power bat was needed for balance in the lineup, and paying him 7.5 mil per is less than you'd have to pay Brian Giles. Remember: Prospects Are Like Suspects - Line 5 Of Them Up and One MIGHT Be "The Guy".
  14. Joe-for-4 is looking more and more like a career minor-leaguer. As cringe-worthy as Timo can be when played too regularly, he seems to have a knack for the big hit off the bench. As for the "extra" Thome money, add me to the "sign Paulie" brigade. He's the best fit for what the Sox need, and the Sox are the best fit for him, too, I think. Anywhere else he goes, he'll be seen as the guy who has to get them to the World Series. Here, he's already helped to do that and would be living off the afterglow of that.
  15. I believe that any piece of paper with words on it would be "too worldly" for that retard. Good for Lachey to escape that wacky-ass family. He seemed too normal for them in the first place.
  16. Not necessarily a "sweet" voice, but I think there's no better female singer than Annie Lennox.
  17. If there's one guy the Sox should overpay, I think it's AJ. The Sox got him at a bargain rate, and they need to make good with him for what he's given so far and what he stands to contribute for years to come. Catcher, left-handed stick, clubhouse LEADER ( not a cancer at all from everything I saw and read ). All these things are necessary for a team to compete. The intangibles ( like the swagger and "f*** you" attitude ) are bonuses you get from AJ. He's been terrific for this Sox team, and I want to see #12 locked up for 3 or 4 more years!
  18. Okay, I need to know something......do you have to ACT on the urge, or is just HAVING the urge a symptom?
  19. QUOTE(3 BeWareTheNewSox 5 @ Nov 23, 2005 -> 01:30 AM) Going the 'Major League - play so bad they'll have to move us' route, ey? "You WANT them to lose????" "Oh, they've BEEN losing - what I want is for them to finish DEAD.....LAST....."
  20. QUOTE(tonyho7476 @ Nov 22, 2005 -> 11:53 AM) There will be a viewing of this tonight at the Waterworks in Lyons. Probably a little after 7PM. Translation: Tony is taking one of his new DVDs to the Waterworks in Lyons tonight. Depending on traffic, he may get there a bit past 7PM.
  21. Not working got my vote. I could do without the visiting, I could REALLY do without the driving, the food's OK but not a deciding factor, and I don't care about football that much at all. If I could just get the 4-day weekend without the other stuff, I'd be set.
  22. QUOTE(rowandschick33 @ Nov 21, 2005 -> 11:36 PM) and if u cant see it thurday they will rerun it on dec.2nd...i unfortunately dont get to see it thursday cuz i will be at my aunts ...thank god for reruns No VHS, DVD recorder or TiVo? 23. QUOTE(The Bones @ Nov 21, 2005 -> 04:16 PM) The Clash-(White Man) In Hammersmith Palais I LOVE that song.
  24. QUOTE(Texsox @ Nov 21, 2005 -> 05:22 PM) When you generally dislike a group/artist, and you find that one song that you do like, is it a deep album cut or a most popular. Example, Greatful Dead, Touch of Gray or something else? Todd Rudgren, Hello it's Me or something else? Beatles, Hey Jude or something else? I'm seeing a pattern develop here for me. Here are some artists I generally don't like all that much, with songs I really like: Rolling Stones - Waiting On A Friend, I'd say that was a hit. Bob Dylan - Jokerman and When The Night Comes Falling From The Sky, not hits. Journey - Stone In Love, not a hit, was it? Survivor - The One That Really Matters, not a hit. Pink Floyd - ...................I can't think of one song I like by them at all. Grateful Dead - see Pink Floyd. So I guess I'd say with at least one exception, I go for the "deeper cuts".
