QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 4, 2010 -> 12:27 PM) Posts like this make me laugh. The things people complained most about in February - lack of power, rotating DH, bullpen, Teahen's bat, Pierre's all-around game... are not the main reasons why this team has sucked. So don't give me this crap that you were somehow preternatural in knowing how this season would go, and smarter than everyone else. This team is 7.5 games back because the vaunted starting pitching has an ERA north of 5, and many of the key offensive players have sucked (Quentin, Beckham, Ramirez, Pierzynski). These were things that were not anticipated. Sure, some people had conerns about Quentin specifically, or about Peavy's recovery. But I would like someone to show me any poster who predicted the starting staff would be 4/5 bad, and that all four of those guys would be hitting 50-100 points below normal for the first two months. Good luck. Does it really matter HOW the toilet water gets to the sewers? -

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jun 3, 2010 -> 01:03 PM) The Flyers should have had at LEAST 3 more penalties last night. How they havent put Pronger in the box for a single crosscheck is a travesty. Pronger's crosschecks are so frequent that it's borderline drinking game material, but mysteriously not ONE has been seen by a referee. Curious.... -

QUOTE (Controlled Chaos @ Jun 2, 2010 -> 03:22 PM) Of course there is reason to believe. Hawks have won 7 road games in a row...clearly they're comfortable in another building. Also, for as much talk there is out of Philly that they 'outplayed' the Hawks....they haven't fricken won. The other side of that is the Hawks haven't come close to playing their best game yet. An early couple goals by the Hawks could be the end of Philly and their 'crowd'. An early couple by Philly could be enough to shut down the Hawks in their building too, but the Hawks won't quit. So I think it will be a battle. I like the over pick....I'm thinking a 4-2 game....and if Philly is going to win a game this series, it will most likely be this one, but their odds go no higher than 50% in my book. It's a crap shoot, a coin flip. Indian Head or Weird Flying P?? call it in the air. Flying P is never a good bet. -

QUOTE (Brian @ Jun 2, 2010 -> 01:37 PM) I like how they change their names but still recognize they are their offspring. Lame. Why not change their dads' names while they're at it? "McGillicutty (Joe Hennig) is the son of Buster O'Houlihan (Curt Hennig) and the grandson of Knock-Knees McGee (Larry Hennig)". It would be just as stupid that way. -

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jun 1, 2010 -> 03:14 PM) Truth. And the missed cross-checking calls on Pronger is getting ridiculous. Its like there is a whole different rule set for him. Someone on the radio pointed out that when Pronger cross-checks, he turns his hands over to try to make it look like he's pushing with his gloves. Sad that refs are dumb enough to get fooled by that. And yeah, the Blues really turned up the goonery when they changed head coaches last year. -

QUOTE (chimpy2121 @ May 31, 2010 -> 10:33 PM) Anyone else think Carcillo has the least amount of talent of any player on the ice? He looked like a complete ass clown out there. Must be what other teams think about Burish (not a slam on the guy, I like him, just not the best player out there). "He brings a lot of energy" aka "He has minimal talent on the NHL level, he skates around like a coked-up hedgehog, hits everyone he sees (legally or not, and no matter which team they play for), and NEVER, EVER shuts his f***ing mouth" The guy's an asshole, and unlike Pronger (who pisses me off on the Flyers but I'd love to have him on the Hawks), I'd be embarrassed to have Carcillo on the Hawks. -

QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ May 31, 2010 -> 10:46 AM) The rampant overconfidence among what seems to be the majority of Hawks fans about this series might actually have me even more nervous than the Flyers. I hope the Hawks aren't buying into this. 1) I highly doubt the players are overconfident. 2) I don't think the majority of Hawks fans are overconfident. There may be a vocal minority of sports radio caller dopes popping off, but I think most Hawks fans understand that to get to the Finals both teams have to be playing well. I think Hawks fans are confident that if both teams play to their capabilities, the Hawks are the better team. They only have to be one game better, and I think we all believe they are. As someone who remembers 1971 all too clearly, I know the better team does not always win. -

QUOTE (Tex @ May 31, 2010 -> 08:03 AM) Philly has a controversy in goal and the Hawks are set. The Flyers gambled on pulling Leighton and I think shaking his confidence will come back and haunt them. I'm guessing he plays a little tighter wondering if he'll get pulled after giving up a goal or two. Or it's wishful thinking. It's not like he should be a super-confident guy anyway. Career minor-leaguer, waived 5 times, looked like a frightened deer in the biggest game of his career. If the Toews/Kane/Byfuglien line shows up at all tonight, we should see Boucher replace Leighton again. -
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 29, 2010 -> 09:37 PM) Kendry Morales is out for a while. Morales with a Carry-Off.

QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ May 29, 2010 -> 10:19 PM) Kopecky has had a great playoff (when he has played) The refs were brutal tonight and I thought the Hawks seemed to outplay the Flyers. Kane was nonexistant. Great game. I agree on all points, except I'd change "great game" to "great final score". -
I hope Beckham can start producing consistently, although I have enjoyed the break from the bizarre man-crushes.

QUOTE (greg775 @ May 26, 2010 -> 06:09 PM) THanks critic and little hurt. Discussion in this forum is more sane than topics about the Sox. Good stuff from you two. Well, to be honest, there was more than a little nuttiness going on when the Hawks were faltering after the Olympics. If the Hawks were playing like the Sox are, any Hawks topic would either be totally nutso or ignored (going back to the "good old days" of some people littering Hawks topics with "Ohhhhhhh, Chicago has a hockey teeeeeeeammmmm????" Wow, do I ever miss those posts...., although that seemed to happen more on WSI than here. It's a lot easier to be sane when your team has won three playoff series and has home ice for the fourth. -

QUOTE (greg775 @ May 26, 2010 -> 01:38 AM) Is it a fluke Montreal scored so few goals in that series? Are you at all worried the Hawks won't win? It'd be a shame to not claim the Cup since we have home ice and are thus the favorites. I'm always worried, especially now. It would SUCK for the Hawks to get this far again and not win it all. This is not going to be a pushover series, nor should it be, but I think the Hawks' depth, speed and overall game will win out. -

Orton hurts himself doing his schtick. Punk gets ripped open, 13 staples' worth, by Rey's knee brace. DiBiase suffered a concussion from an R-Truth slap. Batista f***s up his back and tailbone on a "car bump". Overall, sounds like a successful PPV... -

Carlito firing update - it actually gets better!! The story that Carlito was released for refusing to enter a rehabilitation facility is reportedly true, although contrary to the public's assumption, it was not based on a Wellness Policy test failure. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Carlito reportedly showed up at this week's RAW in "no condition to perform." He was told he needed to go to rehab, "and he refused, so they fired him." The story says that Carlito denied he had a problem, forcing WWE to pull the trigger on the release. It should be noted that WWE's statement only said that "Carlito’s termination was due to his first violation of the WWE Wellness Program" and not that he specifically failed a test.
