Cubs vs. Pirates
cue that song from Annie: "The FAKE will come in....TOMORROW.... You can drink illegally....TOMORROW....there'll be boooooooze...." GO GO ASTROS - as much as I like the Redbirds, they need to get swept. On a related note, I hear more and more whining from CubbieLovers about how the Cardinals are "mailing it in" and "they should be embarrassed". Yet not a PEEP when I remind them that the Pirates, Mets and Reds ALL gutted themselves and why shouldn't THEY be embarrassed? Funny how the blinders come up when the facts don't fit their argument...

Hocking an dPierzynski on ESPN Radio...
That is one WEAK-ASS radio show. Nothing but inside jokes, pop culture crap and sound effects. Awful....and they have BEANO COOK on, too!! I used to listen to it while walking to the bus stop, but now I play my CD Walkman instead.

Hitting in Minnesota
Boo Hoo Hoo... Maybe if they DIDN'T SWING AT THE FIRST PITCH EVERY TIME UP, they'd get "used to it" too!!!! You certainly can't get used to it by giving opposing pitchers 6-pitch innings, like they gave Rogers and Hawkins.

Mientkiewicz
You win, you can talk. You lose, you hang your head and shut up. Let Minky have his day. He'll be hanging his head in the dugout soon enough.

where the hell was this lofton
Didn't Lofton have a couple good months for the Sox before he crapped out? Don't worry, the dump is coming. Lofton is CRAP in the playoffs, with almost NO exceptions. He's about a .200 hitter lifetime in the postseason. So IF the Lovable Losers get there....and let me just add GO ASTROS right there....Lofton is almost certain to vanish.

This is taking a rivalry too far....
To be honest, I am more than a little surprised that this hasn't happened after a Sox - Lovable Losers game yet. I could see this scenario: Leaving a Sox win at Chewing Gum Park, a Drunken Fratboy is overheard to say, "Well, our Cubbie Wubbies lost, but Sammy hit a HOMER! Wasn't that COOL?" A Sox fan overhears and starts laughing. A heated argument ensues. The sCrUB fan reaches for his cell phone to call his frat brothers to help him attack the Sox fan. The Sox fan, thinking Fratboy is reaching for a gun, grabs his own gun and pops a cap in CubbieBoy. ESPN jumps all over the story, and the following season metal detectors are installed at every entrance of USCF, but interestingly, NOT at BubbleGum Field where the shooting took place!

Am I a sick person?
I'm going to watch the remaining games and hope they win every one, whether they're meaningless or not. I'm still a fan, and glad that they made the second half fun and interesting. As I said before, once the Sox season ends, I'll have no sports to care about. The Bears = crap The SlackHawks = crap The Bulls = basketball = so what The Wolves = fun, but minor leagues So this week's disappointment notwithstanding, I am in no hurry to see this season end.

Watch the Cubs
sorry, Michelle, but I tune in and out every once in a while just to see what's up. It's always fun to tune in JUST as SuperSham whiffs on a slider in the dirt with RISP...that NEVER gets old!!!

The boards are too gloomy
The board merely reflects the way Sox fans feel, and right now the feeling HAS to be gloomy as we watch the Sox fade quietly away... Sorry I can't be more upbeat about it...

Watch the Cubs
Bey was one of the guys the Pirates got for Giles. Too bad that Z-FORCE ( as the Chimp calls him ) couldn't figure out how to get him out! Let's see....they score 4, 3 and 2 against the Tidewater Tides disguised as the NY Mets, and now they give up NINE in 5 innings to the Bucs...yeah, Atlanta has to be PRAYING that they don't win the Central!

Who will you root for?
If I root for anybody, it would be the Athletics. I like them a lot, and they are one of my earliest non-Chicago favorite teams. I loved the 72-74 A's teams, and the late 80's A's. That said, I will most likely watch as a detached observer, since the team I wanted MOST to be there will not.

We stink
The Sox do NOT suck ass, they are just not as fundamentally good as Minnesota. The Sox have some strengths and some weaknesses, and Minnesota exposed the weaknesses and took advantage. The Sox have a good team this year, and I hope that next year's team at least SOMEWHAT resembles this year's. They took a shot at adding veterans, and it didn't work out. Tip the cap to Minnesota, they have EARNED the lead and control they enjoy in the AL Central.

I AM SORRY FOR BELIEVING
Don't ever apologize for believing in and following your team. It's what a FAN does. Keep supporting the Sox if you enjoy the game and the team. It's only foolish if YOU think it is, not if others tell you that THEY think it is. I'll be there next year, hope in hand and ready to cheer them on.

It ain't over
Oh, it's over....it's ALL over.........it's all f***ING over............ All that's left to do is shovel dirt and say last rites............ No way IN HELL the Twins gack against the Tiggers and Injuns. The Sox have MUCH more of a chance to mail it in against the Royos and Spankees. The 2003 season has come to its unavoidable conclusion - the best BASEBALL TEAM in the division will win the division, and THAT is as it should be. Sox don't like it? Then they better learn how to play fundamental baseball and DO something about it, instead of complaining how THEY have the better talent and "it's gonna all come together real soon". "Real soon" became "too late" tonight. And PLEASE spare me the "mathematiclly eliminated" argument. A lot of things COULD happen, but they won't. I didn't want to accept it, but it's true - this season has come to an end. You may process your claim to return your playoff tickets now.

The irony of it all
See above....I sit corrected...don't make me STAND corrected!!! ...and it wasn't ME who originally said that anyway - I SAID I heard it on the radio! so

The irony of it all
I sit corrected....that's what I get for listening to sports talk radio...

The irony of it all
And as was mentioned on the radio last night, if the Sox had signed Rogers to be their #5, they may NOT have signed Loaiza. They had Wright in their plans all along, Loaiza had to outpitch Rauch to get the fifth spot. so really, they've gotten 19 wins from their "fifth spot"...

Back in the saddle again
For the Sox to have ANY hope AT ALL, tonight is a MUST MUST WIN. ( now past the most obvious point ) If I see another 6-pitches-and-out 1st inning tonight, I will go f***ing INSANE. The Sox didn't even give themselves a chance to see if Rogers was wild, or how his stuff looked. That flyball-happy offense is the death of this team. When it's on, it's very exciting and fun to watch. But Powerball ( I like that term better than Bigball ) is ALWAYS less effective and inconsistent than Smallball in the long run, and against better pitching. I really hope Baines or Walker or SOMEBODY is pleading with Sox hitters to take the "hit it up the middle" approach to the plate. AND STOP WITH THE FLYBALLS ALREADY!!!!!
