  1. QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Feb 16, 2010 -> 11:15 PM) Also, Miz as Daniel Bryan's mentor? I really hope this show isn't a shoot. Danielson is a veteran of the indie scene, a great in ring wrestler and was trained by HBK, I have no idea how a guy who got his job because he was on the Real World and tries really hard could mentor him. Maybe they're thinking the reason Danielson hasn't "made it" yet is personality and promo-related, and a guy who is in the big time because of his TV history could help develop a character for him. If that's the line of thinking, it's actually pretty solid IMO.
  2. So the NXT program is going to basically be an Ultimate Fighter-style show? I don't have SyeFye, so I can't watch it, but I'm sure it'll end up online somewhere. I'm interested to see how The Fortunate Sons (Joe Hennig and Brett DiBiase) do on that show.
  3. If North and/or Dahl are involved, I will steer clear of this station.

    London/Paris

London is the only place I'd really like to visit, but my wife insists on going to Paris if we ever go to London, so that dampens my desire to go to London. I have absolutely zero interest in ever stepping foot in France.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Feb 16, 2010 -> 08:40 AM) If you intrude on someone else's space, then you get off the plane or plan ahead and get yourself two seats. Lord knows Smith can afford it. You should listen to the podcast. He brings all of these points up. I think what bothered him the most was A: that he could fit in the seat with no seatbelt extenders and the armrests lowered, B: that the ticket woman was claiming that the pilot wanted him off the plane when it didn't appear that the pilot could even see his seat, and C: that neither of the women seated next to him had any objection (or any space invasion) to him sitting there. There were larger people than him sitting on the plane with no objections (again, his words) and he felt that he was singled out. Just from listening to the podcast (and being a regular listener of it), I doubt he was a prick to anyone on the plane. He always seems to have a firm grasp on the fact that he's fat, and that he can afford to buy two seats (and usually does). I'm sure after all this, he probably just wishes he'd have waited for his regularly scheduled flight.

QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Feb 16, 2010 -> 02:55 AM) If he knows about the 2 ticket policy for people of his stature I don't think he should be making a big fuss, your own fault for trying to save a quick buck. Next time get two tickets or lose some damn weight. Just going from his side of the story, he wasn't trying to save a buck, he was trying to get home sooner. He was able to buckle in without seat belt extenders, and he was able to lower the armrests. He says he always books two seats for himself (and had two tickets for his scheduled flight, they only had one available seat for the earlier standby flight) but (again, in his words) not because he's too fat, but because he doesn't like sitting next to people. Assuming this is true, then SWA shouldn't have pulled him from the flight. In recent pictures I've seen, he looks fat, but he doesn't seem like he'd spill into the seats next to him.
  8. QUOTE (T R U @ Feb 15, 2010 -> 09:08 PM) Im waiting for Hornswaggle to be involved somehow.. WINNER!!!! ...and the losers are the viewers.
  9. The only good thing about this God-awful Springer bit is lots of Kelly Kelly on my TV. And yeah, Raw has been s***.
  10. QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Feb 5, 2010 -> 12:21 PM) Gene Honda Civic/Cheat gets my honorable mention even if he's not around much, but Critic should win it in a walk. My "walk" ended up being off a pier.
  11. QUOTE (Brian @ Feb 15, 2010 -> 10:19 AM) Finally able to get out of bed and move around without throwing up for the first time in 36 hours. I could only lay in bed in one position without getting queezy and my back was killing me. Saltines and Sprite baby! Glad to hear you're on the mend! I started feeling like crap on Thursday night, so I NyQuil'd myself on Thursday and Friday night, then took a nap on Saturday afternoon so I could meet up with some long-lost buddies on Saturday night. Worked out great - I felt better and knocked a few down with some good friends while watching the Hawks win a shootout. Good times!!
  12. I decided to do the 20% presale on one "bronze level" game, just because I always try to go to each park at least once each season. I got infield terrace reserved seats for basically the same price as they'd cost for a "silver level" game, so I'm okay with it. Take a vacation day in the middle of May for a ballgame with my wife and daughter? That'll work.
  13. QUOTE (Brian @ Feb 15, 2010 -> 10:14 AM) I don't think WWE does this often with young talent, but they may have dropped the ball with Elijah Burke. He has been having really good matches in TNA and is getting over. Not even Anderson is annoying me as much as he did. I don't hate TNA right now. Yeah, if TNA would just dial down the old guys a little, I think they'd have something good happening. I don't have SighFigh, so I don't know how they used Burke in ECWWE. It could just be right place/right time/right name for him in TNA. I've enjoyed his work and his promos a lot. Good to see him getting a push - I expected him to lose the final, but I don't think Anderson needs the win as much. A good booking decision.

They shouldn't have allowed him to buy a single seat for the standby if he had two seats for his original flight, then. They were talking about this on the radio this morning, and the hosts were (half-)joking that what they'll have to do eventually is have a "test seat" in the ticketing area that us fatties will have to sit in and lower the armrests. No fit, no fly!

Kevin Smith was booted off a Southwest Airlines flight for being too fat: http://www.people.com/people/article/0,,20344142,00.html Hear Kevin's thoughts on the subject here: http://www.smodcast.com/
  16. From the looks of the results, Against All Odds seemed like a really good PPV.
  17. Shouldn't this be in the drunk thread?
  18. QUOTE (Brian @ Feb 12, 2010 -> 10:26 PM) I don't think Piper meant Pat Tanaka. He meant the big fat dude from the Bond movie. I didn't mean Pat Tanaka either. http://www.obsessedwithwrestling.com/profi.../fujitanaka.php They won titles in three different territories, and worked together for at least 8 years, so what territory did Fuji kill Tanaka's dog to chase him away from? It was clear to me that Piper was playing with, or trying to show off to, Carolla the entire show because he knew Carolla wasn't a wrestling fan.
  19. QUOTE (Brian @ Feb 12, 2010 -> 03:16 PM) Dude....Fuji fed him his dog??? I don't believe it for one second. Fuji and Tanaka were multiple-time tag champs, so when exactly did Fuji "chase Tanaka out of a territory"? Piper was full of s*** throughout that entire show.
  20. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Feb 12, 2010 -> 02:29 PM) Nick Leddy... 1st round prospect (16th overall) in 2009 draft huh... and an American?! Very nice though I'm sure someone here can give a scouting report. Kim Johnsson and Hammer can pair up (the Sweeds connection) though I think it'll be him and Sopel. Johnsson is a UFA at season's end as well so this helps the cap next year and to get a prospect back for Barks. Leddy's still in high school, committed to college next year. The Wiki on him says he has a good shot but often passes up the shot to try to make plays.
  21. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Feb 12, 2010 -> 02:20 PM) the300level Kim Johnsson and Nick Leddy to Chicago for Barker is the done deal Kim for Cam, huh?
  22. QUOTE (DBAHO @ Feb 12, 2010 -> 07:41 AM) Anyone else been following the whole John Terry fiasco? Basically he cheated on his wife for the umpteenth time, with a French Lingerie Model who was the ex-wife of his former club-team Wayne Bridge, and they have a 3YO son together. Also for whoever follows the Premier League, looks like we have a 3 team race again with Chelsea, Manchester United and Arsenal all in it. GO GUNNERS!!! Thought Arsenal were left for dead a couple weeks ago, but they do have an outside chance. Their schedule seems favorable the rest of the way, so we'll see. I'd still like a more consistent offense from them.
  23. QUOTE (Brian @ Feb 11, 2010 -> 08:11 PM) I put it on my ipod yesterday. Was excited until your review. I will probably still listen to it since you're such a mark, Critic. You still need to listen to it just to hear his Fuji/Tanaka story. Yikes if it's real, which I doubt.
  24. LOL Man, you could feel the silence during Hogan's promo. And what I've gotten from Hulk's promo seems to be that "TNA is the IN PLACE TO BE, BROTHER" and "THE IMPACT ZONE IS ON FULL LOCKDOWN, BROTHER". Yawn. You know it's bad when Eric Young interrupting is an improvement.
  25. Roddy Piper was on Adam Carolla's podcast the other day and it was ridiculous. He was kayfabe-ing Carolla the entire time. "I never threw a fight in 17 years!" "If they wanted me to throw a fight, it had to be a tag match and they could talk to my partner!" Hilariously awful. http://www.adamcarolla.com/ACPBlog/2010/02...dy-roddy-piper/
