The Critic replied to Rowand44's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
Hopefully these are honest opinions and not some attempt to "swerve the Internet marks": -The cohost asked for clarification on the rumor that TNA is thinking about bringing in Honky Tonk Man. Hogan said Honky actually owns the name "Linda Hogan." Bischoff said he would "rather drive a rusty ice pick through my thigh" than work for Honky Tonk Man. Bischoff also stated that Honky "couldn't draw flies if he were rolled in horse s***." He definitively added, "There's no truth to that at all," Bischoff said regarding the rumor that Honky started on his website. http://www.prowrestling.net/artman/publish...e10010029.shtml -

QUOTE (Brian @ Jan 31, 2010 -> 07:44 PM) The stipulation that the winner gets the main event at Mania really pigeon holes it. I have always hated it. I agree. I wish they'd treat it like Money In The Bank, where the winner can cash in the title shot whenever they want. That's a much more effective and flexible plot line, and doesn't necessarily end the angle at Mania. -
QUOTE (3E8 @ Jan 29, 2010 -> 10:54 PM) Critic, check out the band 'Dear Landlord', they loosely remind me of Face To Face. It is fun and gritty pop-punk. Here's a link to the album: http://www.mediafire.com/?yozjzgn4nym Thanks, 3E8, grabbing it now. I'll follow up when I give it a listen - probably won't be today (I have my daughter's birthday party) but I'll definitely give it a spin this weekend.

QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Jan 29, 2010 -> 12:27 PM) Jansen's has really dropped off. Hickory Hills has two ofthe best rib joints around as well as the joint on 95th and Ridgeland. I am not sure why there are good /great rib places around there but maybe the Patio crowd started it. The Patio is good as well. There is als a great Mexican joint in Blue Island that I is authentic that I will try not to spell. Not crazy about the Patio. Park Ribs on Archer just east of Harlem - now those are some ribs!!! Their sauce is the best - I need to stock up on some bottles of their sauce before grillin' season gets underway again!

That could be hilarious when used by drunks.

Oh, come on now. Really. Enough. (Sources: Mediaweek, PWInsider.com) -- According to honkytonkman.net, former WWE Superstar The Honky Tonk Man is close to signing a deal with TNA. "Honky Tonk Man is very close to signing with TNA! HTM has been in contact with TNA since early December," reads a note from the webmaster. My first, second and third thought was: What the hell is taking Brutus Beefcake so long to sign??? -
Maybe Little Dick can outsource the fireworks and make people pay to watch them, like a peepshow. Giant curtain opens, BOOM BOOM BOOMBOOM, giant curtain closes, 10 more bucks please.

QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jan 26, 2010 -> 11:47 PM) Smart move by the twinkies - big name to boost the opening of a new stadium. Time to root against Thome again. Man...it's been awhile! I can't cheer against him anymore. He's probably my favorite Sox player ever. I was hoping he wouldn't sign with a Central Division team. I just have to hope he's never in a position to hurt the Sox.

I just may have to be "the old guy" at this year's Warped Tour. Among the bands performing at the Tinley Park stop this year: Reel Big Fish Flatfoot 56 Riverboat Gamblers Andrew WK The Casualties and my main reason to attend: Face To Face! I have been waiting patiently for them to come back to Chicago since they reformed. They're so damn good!!

A's signed Ben Sheets. 1 year, $8 million. He's great when he's healthy. He passed his physical, but we'll see if he holds up.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jan 26, 2010 -> 09:13 AM) I did too, and I rarely pop for anything Orton does. Its Tropic Sun vs The Ghost The Orange vs The White in a Dreamsicle Death Match!!! I couldn't make it to the end of Raw last night. It was really below average, even by Raw standards. -
QUOTE (Tex @ Jan 25, 2010 -> 09:43 PM) Your only regrets later will be the things you did not do. This is so true. I still regret to this day that I never tried singing for a punk or metal band. I saw an ad in the Illinois Entertainer that was PERFECT. This group was looking for a singer, they were all novices in it for fun, they were just a couple suburbs over from me, and they listed about 10 bands I loved as influences. I seriously thought about calling to try out, but I was playing softball 5 nights a week at that point, so I talked myself out of it. I'm not saying I would have made a living at it (I wouldn't want to be a pro musician, really), but it would have been a lot of fun.

It doesn't matter if you're the better team if you don't play like it. They don't give trophies to the best team on paper or by reputation. The better team today is the one packing for Miami, not the one cleaning out their lockers. -
Jay Leno and Conan O'Brien

QUOTE (Cali @ Jan 22, 2010 -> 04:00 PM) I don't like Deep Dish, I prefer the thinner crust. I prefer regular softball to 16", it's like playing baseball with a basketball. I like ketchup on my hot dogs, now, and when I lived there I liked it. Strongly disagree Disagree Agree

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jan 21, 2010 -> 10:12 PM) Impact was all over the place. Hall was hilarious when he called Xpac cheech, lol Did I miss something when Hogan said that Nash needed to let them(the band) know that they needed to be better, then he transitioned to throwing them out on the next segment? Was there something in between that angered Hogan that I missed while channel surfing or did Hogan just go to the ring and kick them out of the Impact zone? You didn't miss anything. They started to walk to the ring and Hogan stopped them, told them they didn't work there and kicked them out of the building. And yeah, Impact was really scattered. Hopefully they can start to gain some kind of focus soon. -

QUOTE (CryptviLL @ Jan 21, 2010 -> 06:55 PM) What??? Wow. Insane. They just take a month off now or? lol.... Maybe they run some house shows to generate some income? I dunno. Absolutely. I hope Vince signs her, but I read that most of the time TNA will talk things out with their workers when they give notice. I bet they convince her to stay. -

QUOTE (CryptviLL @ Jan 21, 2010 -> 06:08 PM) Yes - TNA has a solid roster no doubt - I may tune into it a bit tonight, see if they add some real direction. They taped all their shows leading up to the next PPV already, so the spoilers look like a real mess. Hopefully, they can edit it to make sense. Oh, and Kong gave her notice to TNA after the Bubba The Talentless Hack incident. -

Just watched Mr Anderson's return promo on YouTube. Eh. It was just "okay". Not terrible, but nothing memorable. And "MISSSSSSSTERRRRRRR.......ANNNNNDERSONNNN" just doesn't have the same ring to it. That said, I still think he can be a solid part of that roster and that show. -
I'm definitely on board for bringing Jim back in a platoon role. He's a really good clubhouse guy, he still had good enough numbers vs. righties, and he wouldn't break the bank. I don't see a downside to it.
