QUOTE (Brian @ Feb 23, 2010 -> 10:38 AM) I'm the opposite side. It would be a big risk to have an up and comer end the streak. It is similar to "retiring" Flair. I feel the streak ending to a veteran is more believable and acceptable if it is at the hands of a veteran like HBK. Wanna push a young guy? Take away the title stipulation in the Rumble and have someone win it. Or bring back King of the Ring. I see your point, but after all these years I don't see the value in ending the streak. And I wasn't talking about just any young guy ending it. The scenario would have to all line up - young guy, locked in a longer-term deal, already getting over with the fans but in need of that one WTF moment to send it to another level. It would have to be someone on the cusp of breaking out. I don't know who fits that bill right now in the E. Although, really, it seems that more of the moments that "make" guys come from promos or gimmick matches. -
I don't want to spend one tax dollar on a new football stadium. That's my only concern about this issue. I don't care if they get a new stadium or not, I just don't want to contribute one dollar to it.

It makes no sense to end Taker's Mania streak at this point, especially to Michaels. If they were going to do it at all, it would make more sense to have a young guy who they see as the future of the company end the streak. To have a close-to-done wrestler end the other close-to-done wrestler's streak is just pointless. -
QUOTE (3E8 @ Feb 22, 2010 -> 06:38 PM) The White Sox were the answer to a daily double question today on Jeopardy. "This is the President's favorite team and his favorite to play for them was Harold Baines". The guy answered the Bulls, then Bears And then Trebek, as usual, gets smarmy with the guy. "Harold Baines wasn't a basketball player, and wasn't a football player". I'd love to see that smug asshole play the game without having the answers on cards.

QUOTE (longshot7 @ Feb 22, 2010 -> 04:49 PM) I don't believe that for one second. I won't ruin the spoiler for those that haven't read, but at this point, I'd be surprised if Hart and McMahon actually are in any kind of match at Mania. It would be better if they just second Cena & Batista respectively. Since no one mentioned it, I thought the Elim Chambers were both great. They've set up a lot of good matches for Mania as of now: Cena/Batista, Edge/Jericho, HBK/Taker, plus what to do with HHH, Sheamus, Legacy, etc. They're absolutely going to have a match or a "fight" of some sort. The scenario in the spoiler makes sense within the angle, except for the surprise added part. The "broken leg" keeps Bret off TV for a while, which works for the angle as well. -

She must have wanted to Be The Man!!!!: http://www.lordsofpain.net/news/tna/6548.html Ric Flair's wife Jacqueline Beems has been released from jail, according to North Carolina's WISTV.com. The article states that TNA star Ric Flair suffered minor injuries when he was allegedly assaulted by Beems late Sunday night at his home in Charlotte, N.C. Beems was charged with assault using "personal weapons such as hands, feet, and teeth." The arrest warrant from the incident is available online. At least she used "personal weapons" and not "foreign objects". -
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Feb 22, 2010 -> 11:17 AM) Commiting all that money to Peralta at such an early stage wasn't such a wise idea, either. It's one of the many reasons (along with Kerry Wood) they had to trade away DeRosa. I'm not even sure what happened to Sizemore last season. Hafner, it's pretty obvious his body shrank noticeably. So much for Pronk, more like Shrek as a hitter now. SHRUNK 48

Glad to see Jericho with the belt, even though it's probably going to be a short reign. His current character is more effective holding the title. The Batista thing makes sense with the current storyline (now Vince screwed Cena too), but I'm no fan of Batista so I'm not happy he won. I wonder if Sheamus gets de-pushed now, or if he'll still be in the chase after Mania? Interesting Legacy developments - I kind of expect Brett DiBiase and Joe Hennig to come in either as new members of an Orton-less Legacy, or as Orton's new proteges against Rhodes and/or Ted. -
I couldn't possibly care less what Woods does with his golf clubs or his dick. ....oh, and by the way.....now there's ONE thread about it.

QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Feb 18, 2010 -> 09:46 PM) My first great love was a neighborhood girl a year behind me in high school, but best friends with one of my friend's (bassist in my high school band) sisters, so the summer before my junior year in high school we spent a lot of time as part of the larger group of delinquents hanging out in the neighborhood. During that time I quietly fell totally head over heels for her, and unbeknown to me so did another best friend of mine (the drummer. . . what an ABC afterschool special we were!). Long story slightly less long. . . I won the day and the girl during the course of the next few months, we dated for a few months and then she broke up with me and on the rebound I got swooped up by a girl of incredibly lax morals which was just what I needed at the time. Love of my Life sees that other girls are interested in me and rethinks her decision to kick me to the curve, and besotted as I still am I go right back to her without a second thought. It's all going extremely well at this time, except two years has gone by and I have to head off to college. We manage the long distance thing for a year, but when it's time for her to go to school she goes to Western and I'm at UofI. She decides she wants to explore her new independence (and does so behind my back), and we break up while we're home together over Christmas break. So. . . this in no way ended amicably, though of course I got the "want to stay friends" line. Thing is, she was absolutely one of the most beautiful souls/spirits of anyone I ever met, and even as I moved on to other loves/losses/loves, I always felt I was a better person for he time I spent with this girl. And, eventually it turns out she felt the same way. We reconnected a few years ago via email, and although we have families and lives that are literally and figuratively a thousand miles apart we're very close again. So basically it's totally weird. We had as bad a breakup as you can have, but have ended up in the long run being close to each other and important to each other, although in a completely different way than when we started out together. .....so when ya gettin' together to nail her??

QUOTE (Tex @ Feb 18, 2010 -> 01:25 PM) Hmm, the best beer in the world thing has me thinking. I wonder what an easy way is to track down where I can find one. So I called my son, who knew immediately which beer I was talking about, where to buy it locally, the cost, the brewing process, the spicy after taste, and suggested a couple more to try. Not bad for a kid who just turned 21 a few months ago. He really learned quick. Yeah. Learned quick. Some kids, that takes YEARS of experience. Not yours. Mere months, IF THAT. A prodigy, I tell ya.

QUOTE (SHIPPS @ Feb 18, 2010 -> 12:20 PM) Thank you Critic, That just shows what a classy f***er you are. To be able to admit defeat to someone you know very well in your heart of hearts is not even nearly as funny and clever as you but because a few teenagers like my Will Ferrell avatar and I have a dancing piece of s*** on every post that I make along with the legend of the penis thread I was able to beat you out by a whole heaping handful of votes taken from the masses of atleast 50 nerds like myself. I commend your gracefulness, I would be pissed if I were you. Oh, just cut the crap and GLOAT already, willya??? You know you want to!!! -

Is it too soon for a concession speech? Ladies and Gentlemen of Soxtalk, I stand before you today to concede the 2009 Funniest Poster Award race to SHIPPS. This is not a sad day for me. This is merely the end of one chapter of my online life, and with every ending comes a new beginning. I ran what I believed to be a funny campaign, but the people have spoken and I readily accept their verdict. The people of Soxtalk are looking for a new voice, a fresh approach to mocking the topics of the day. They have found their candidate in SHIPPS, and I join them in congratulating him. At this time, I'd like to commend SHIPPS on running a hilarious campaign. He quipped, punned and ably used sarcasm to bring laughter to almost 20 people. This is no small feat. I look forward to his 2010 hilarity with great anticipation. I, myself, will take a few weeks off from being funny to rest and re-charge my batteries before I ponder what the future holds. I have enjoyed immensely the privelege of being Soxtalk's funniest motherf***er for the past year, but with that honor comes great pressure to perform. I'd be lying to you if I said there wasn't any part of me relieved at losing that pressure. I shall entertain other options here at Soxtalk - I have thought of perhaps entering the Drunk Poster realm, or perhaps losing myself in minor-league statistical data. Maybe I'll go to a ton of crappy movies, or I may even decide to watch Scrubs......I'm just kidding about Scrubs, that show sucks. In closing, I'd like to offer any comedic support I can to SHIPPS and his administration during the transitional period, and I have great faith that the funny bone of this online community is in capable and sure hands (or typing fingers, as the case may be). Thank you, good night, and f*** off. The Critic -

I wonder if Low-Ki, Joe Hennig and Brett DiBiase were pulled from NXT because maybe they're getting called up to Raw or Smackdown? I wouldn't mind seeing Legacy continue without Orton but with DiBiase and Hennig. -
QUOTE (Brian @ Feb 17, 2010 -> 07:07 PM) Coincidence this is happening the week his new movie comes out...which looks like complete crap anyway. He's been desperate for a mainstream hit and his movies get progressively worse as a result.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Feb 17, 2010 -> 02:20 PM) I thought it was the opposite? I thought brushing made the ice slicker and kept the stone moving. Could be. Just seems like brushing the ice would make it slower. I certainly don't claim to be a curling expert. I just stopped on it the other night because the Japanese team was cute. -
I played in the 1973 City Series at Wrigley Field and Comiskey Park. Pinch-hit in both parks. Struck out in both parks. Just like Sosa. I had a pretty good tournament to get there, but we had a really deep outfield.

QUOTE (Brian @ Feb 17, 2010 -> 01:56 PM) So what do those brooms do in curling? I guess the brooms "rough up" the ice a little, slowing the speed of the stone and changing its direction by how each broom is worked (one side brushes harder than the other to make the stone hook one way or another, etc). -
