  1. QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Jan 21, 2010 -> 08:52 AM) Well I think Niemi would be the starter than and your trading Huet to allow the hawks to resign Sharp, Versteeg, etc. I think its evident that Niemi is at least a lateral move from Huet so the hawks aren't losing anything by getting rid of him. I like what I've seen from Niemi so far, but I'm a little hesitant to hand him the keys without a solid veteran backup (if Huet is dealt). I wouldn't make any moves before making Niemi the #1 guy and seeing how he responds to more playing time, back-to-back games, and teams having more of a book on him. I wonder what old warhorses are out there who can be had for not that much in terms of cash and/or personnel in trade?
  2. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 20, 2010 -> 11:54 AM) If the Wings can win with Osgood, the Hawks can win with Huet. In theory this is true, but I'd be more confident in Huet if he had ever won a playoff series before. Although Niemi hasn't either, so that point is probably moot. The bigger point to all of this is, I don't think the Hawks brass is looking to move Huet, and even if they were, the takers are few and far between. They'd have to make a second major deal to acquire an upper-level goalie anyway. If you can't get an elite goalie from anyone, then you're just trading Huet for another question mark, and what's the point of that?
  3. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 20, 2010 -> 10:55 PM) Letterman is just trying to hit the ratings. Yeah, Dave's just piggy-backing, which is fine. It's a news story, and it's a professional item (as opposed to Dave's personal stuff), so I think it's fair game.
  4. QUOTE (CryptviLL @ Jan 20, 2010 -> 08:17 AM) Wow awesome! Good luck with that. Ditto, and double ditto on the stable. That'd be sick. Anyone know where they are going with Undertaker / HBK ? . Any picks for winner of the rumble? I've read that Taker is in real bad shape physically and may be hanging them up soon. Possibly right after Mania. It would make NO sense for Taker's streak to end at this point, and would make DOUBLE no sense for Michaels to be the one to end it. As for the Rumble.....never bet against Cena!! He could win it even if he wasn't entered in it!!! He's SUPERCENA!!!!
  5. I have to say, I REALLY like where the Flair/Styles affiliation is going. This is what I wanted Flair to do all along - be a manager/mouthpiece for a younger group of wrestlers. AJ is the perfect place to start, IMO, and I really hope they give Flair a stable of younger guys. The Machine Guns would be a good fit, and maybe a monster to round it out like Morgan.
  6. QUOTE (Brian @ Jan 19, 2010 -> 08:43 PM) A buddy of mine started with FCW yesterday. I talked to him today and he said the first day was a 2 hour orientation with Steve Kern and Norman Smiley. They start the real work tomorrow. Nice! Wish him luck from the Soxtalk Marks! "Little Legacy" (actual team name The Fortunate Sons) won the FCW tag straps recently - Brett DiBiase and Joe Hennig. Mike Rotundo also has two sons working in FCW, Bo and Luke Rotundo. Are those fake names or did Mike watch way too much Dukes of Hazzard??
  7. I applaud Awesome Kong. That guy seems like a bottom-feeder like Mancow or Mike North. It's probably going to cost her some bucks, which will probably make that jackass think he "won", but it's good to shut a dumbass's mouth every once in a while.
  8. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 19, 2010 -> 09:25 AM) Well both of them are dead so... ......ohhhh, I see.......they're dead, so there's NO WAY they win the Funniest Poster Award!!! YEAH!! THANKS, MIKE!!! whew....that was close....
  9. I took the comment to mean that JD would be the best outfielder they had if he joined. Offensively, he would be (if the end of 2009 wasn't a sign of things to come). Defensively, Fukudome is better than JD right now IMO. JD's legs looked shot last year - if he can rebound from whatever leg problems he may have had, he'd still be a solid OF, but not like he's been in the past.
  10. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jan 19, 2010 -> 07:19 AM) Dye would struggle in the Wrigley RF defensively, but offensively, I think he might be better than anyone else in the Cubs OF. Fukudome's a pretty decent right-fielder.
  11. Hey, since the Funniest Poster award has my name as a sub-title, does that mean I'm no longer eligible? Like Cy Young can't win the Cy Young Award, Lady Byng can't win the Lady Byng Trophy, and so on..... I'm just wondering, because aside from my dumb jokes I got nothing else to offer this site!!!
  12. I hope Impact looks better than the spoilers would suggest. Quite a clusterf*** going on there. There's potential for interesting things, but they're throwing too much stuff around at once.
  13. Man, the Hogan Regime is getting better every day - I agree with not allowing gang signs or obscene gestures, but the bolded part made me laugh: Partial source: PWInsider.com - Before tonight's TNA iMPACT tapings began in Orlando, members of the TNA staff addressed the crowd at the iMPACT Zone about their behavior. Fans were told not to curse, make obscene gestures or gang signs. The fans were referred to as "cast members" and were basically told they needed to be quiet, according to a fan in attendance. This is likely another decision made by Hulk Hogan and Eric Bischoff, who haven't been pleased with some of the reactions from the TNA crowd lately.
  14. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jan 18, 2010 -> 01:53 PM) have you noticed the last couple times he has done this Nash has been the guy that has his back? You would think Nash would be able to recognize that Hall just cannot stay clean, and moreso to the point you would think Nash would know when Hall wasnt clean. They are best friends, if he cannot spot the warning signs that all of us fans see right away, something is wrong with that. I think Nash used to think there was still some real money left to be made off the nWo gimmick, now I just think he's trying to get his buddy a paycheck. Nash seems so half-assed about this run. He almost needs someone to cattle prod him to wake him up. It's really sad - Nash sleepwalking, Hall taking the drunken walk of shame, and Waltman looking like he's strung out on half a pharmacy, knowing he has to take 99% of the bumps in every match he works. I read that the "TNA guys" are very depressed and worried about their jobs and/or their "spots". Morale is already sinking, as it should. When washed-out, forgotten blobs like the Nasty Boys steal air time from capable, relevant young workers and Val Venis gets an immediate push while guys like Samoa Joe are left off pay-per-views, it's got to be easy to get bummed out.
  15. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jan 18, 2010 -> 01:40 PM) The question is why is TNA trusting him. He has burned them and WWE in the past 8 years, plus countless small promotions. Hall is what he is, he hasnt tried to change anything. We all knew this was going to happen Cuz THEY'RE GETTIN' THE BAND BACK TOGETHER!!! ...even though the drunken rhythm guitarist never cleaned up, blows off multiple gigs, and burns bridges with promoters left and right. He keeps saying he's clean and everyone likes him when he's not "medicated", so they want to give him one more chance.....again....and he f***s it up....again....but everyone loves those old hit records and they want to believe that THE BAND can grab that brass ring one more time...
  16. "HEY YO!!! IT'S SURVEY TIME!!! .....do these trunks make me look fat?"
  17. PLEASE let this be true, this is too funny!!! Partial source: F4Wonline.com - There are rumors that Scott Hall claimed he had a groin injury which is why he didn't wrestle at tonight's Genesis pay-per-view with Kevin Nash. The story goes that Hall actually put on his trunks for the first time in a while and did not want to wrestle because he was worried about how he looked. Hall apparently begged to be taken off the card which is why Waltman tagged with Nash. It was said that Waltman didn't want to wrestle either but obviously ended up doing so. Eric Young was set to be Nash's partner if things with Waltman didn't go through.
  18. I'm FAR more excited about the possibility of a Kendrick/Pope feud than Kennedy or Sid coming in. I've seen a recent picture of Sid - I hope he doesn't cut his hair before he arrives. He looks like a mongoloid Bon Jovi with his long hair.
  19. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Jan 15, 2010 -> 10:26 PM) I don't follow wrestling at all, so I'm not really sure if he is a "name" in the Chicago circuit, but my uncle Ed Chuman died today, and was in the business for quite some time. http://www.pwinsider.com/article/44351/lon...s-away.html?p=1 I'm sorry for your loss, Tony. Sorry to say, I don't recognize his name, but that was a nice writeup they gave him. Sounds like he was well-liked.
  20. What I read was, he doesn't have a non-compete clause, but the sooner he starts another show, the less money NBC would owe him. EDIT: As Ni just posted a minute before I did.

QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Jan 14, 2010 -> 11:26 PM) You'll have to excuse me, the Green Lantern in my mind is frozen ca. 1959-1965 (complete with the big Gil Kane crease between his nose and mouth, naturally). Back then, if you were comic book Asian stereotype you were damn proud of it! This is the only Green Lantern in my opinion. I reject all phony Green Lanterns.
  22. QUOTE (Brian @ Jan 14, 2010 -> 11:12 PM) I take it Generation Me are The Young Bucks. Can you pick a dumber name? "The Band". Yeah, both of those names are bad for that team. The fact that they only use their first names would cause a problem if they ever split them up - "next week on Impact!! Eric Young versus.....JEREMY!!!"
