QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Oct 9, 2009 -> 05:26 PM) Consider last nights game a win with the news Johan Franzen suffered a torn ACL.......Wings are looking really thin up front, and in net. I think looking at an injury as a win is a bit harsh, but yeah, losing Franzen really hurts the Wings. And although Osgood played his ass off last night, their overall goaltending has to be considered suspect. Once the Hawks get it going, and play a little more consistently over the entire 60 minutes, they're the favorites to take the Central for sure.

Maybe legally, but not morally.

Walker's last 3 discs have been diminishing returns IMO. I'm glad I saw him on the Left of Self-Centered Tour. He didn't have much bad material at that point.

Damn, Cheap Shot, go away already. Sad, desperate f*** with no other useful purpose in life. I really don't want to have to avoid the Wolves.

Yikes, that was nerdy.

QUOTE (bmags @ Oct 8, 2009 -> 10:04 AM) Sorry to disagree, Crit, but that was not the saddest thing about the article. That award goes to: "Rivers Cuomo: It might be my favorite track on the album. It was an epic process coming up with it between me, [co-writer] Jermaine Dupri, and [producer] Polow Da Don-- and then Lil Wayne topped it off with this rap from the edge of the grave." "The first time I really became aware of him was when he worked the Ninja Turtles into the song "Kush". Let me look up the lyrics online. ... Ok, he says, "I feel like I'm racing a bunch of little turtles/ Keep a bandana like the Ninja Turtles." First of all, he rhymes "turtles" with "turtles," which is crazy! Second, he pronounces "turtles" with this real hard "R" so he sounds super nerdy, which is something you don't often hear from black rappers. Third, he references the Ninja Turtles! That's another thing you don't often hear." At least that was maybe an attempt to be comical to some degree. Nothing funny about his s***ty playlist, or about Butch's decline.

QUOTE (bmags @ Oct 7, 2009 -> 07:56 AM) I'm embarrassed for him. http://pitchfork.com/news/36686-rivers-cuo...ins-iraditudei/ The saddest thing about that article is seeing that Butch Walker has become more well-known for being a "teen-pop producer" than he is for being in Marvelous 3, who were fantastic. The second saddest thing is his taste in music. Yikes.

Piper's people are denying the terminal cancer report - courtesy Lords of Pain: It was reported here earlier today that WWE Hall of Famer Roddy Piper has been diagnosed with terminal cancer. One of Piper’s representatives has stated that the news is 100% untrue. Piper has taken time off for health-related issues after wrapping his most recent film, but he has not been diagnosed with a terminal illness or terminal cancer. Piper has been advised by doctors to take a break from working and rest. His representatives may be releasing an official statement soon. That said, do keep Roddy Piper in your prayers. -

QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Oct 5, 2009 -> 12:35 PM) Meltzer is saying Punk is in the doghouse, but it's in the pay section so I can't see why Apparently a dress code issue - Taker pulled him aside during the last overseas tour and said something about the champ having to dress better and Punk replied "what about John Cena?". Word got back to the WWE brass and they didn't like it. I know when I see pro wrestlers dressed sloppily, I lose all respect for them. -

QUOTE (Brian @ Oct 5, 2009 -> 10:26 AM) Not really. Morrison/Zigler was ok. DX/Legacy was pretty good. That was it. Undertaker could barely move around during his match with Punk. He looks like he could be done IMO. To give him the title is just a mistake right now. Maybe they gave him one more run because they realize he's almost done? I really hope they put the belt back on Punk - he's been interesting as champ, and Taker doesn't need the title to get over. I kind of wish Austin was healthy, I'd like to see him battle Punk to defend the honor of alcoholics everywhere. -

The PPV last night looked (from the results and recaps I read, at least) to be absolute horses***. Short, predictable matches up and down the card. When the biggest "surprise" is the Taker/Punk match being the curtain jerker, that's a weak-ass PPV. If anyone watched it, was it any better than it seemed from reading the match recaps? -

Kind of a dumb gamble by Beckham, but I think his flopping got him in safely. I want to see the replay. -
With the catcher position being as important as it is, I'd rather worry about finding playing time for two capable guys than hoping and praying that Flowers works out after dealing AJ. I'd hang onto AJ until he's done, easing Flowers in at C and getting him some at-bats at the DH position.

QUOTE (scotty22hotty @ Oct 3, 2009 -> 08:28 AM) Strange... I see the Sox adding another SP. Nothing would shock me, but I don't see it. I'm happy with Peavy/Buerhle/Danks/Floyd and a #5 selection of Garcia/Hudson/Torres. I think they'll look for a top-of-the-order hitter, whether it's the perennial Figgins courtship or someone else. And, as always, bullpen. Everyone's always searching for reliable bullpen guys.

QUOTE (letsgoarow @ Oct 3, 2009 -> 07:55 AM) So Garcia is safe and Gavin Floyd is not lol Probably because Garcia wouldn't bring much and Gavin would, so if you're dealing someone it would make sense to deal Gavin rather than trade "junk for junk" with Freddy.

QUOTE (Sonik22 @ Sep 29, 2009 -> 02:34 PM) It's exciting watching these young guys play though, knowing that these are future MNT players. Is there any doubt that Cameroon's "Banana Yaya" is the best name in the tournament? Sounds like an opening act for Lady Gaga or Bananarama.

QUOTE (knightni @ Oct 2, 2009 -> 05:18 PM) I'm not condemning anyone. I'm just saying that you'll be paying taxes on stuff whether you have the Olympics or not, so why not have them? For me, it's because I don't like amateur sports or tourists. My wife was hoping Chicago got the Olympics because I kept saying I was going to get out of town while they were here - ironically becoming the very tourist I would be trying to avoid! The win/win for me is: no 2016 Olympics cluttering up Chicago, and Dick says he doesn't envision Chicago trying for any future Olympics.

What this shows me is that The Little Emperor is worse than Oprahbama are good.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Oct 2, 2009 -> 06:39 AM) From what I've read the morning, most of the Chicago presentation was sort of flat and meh, but that the two Obamas did pretty well. Chicago's presentation lacked the focus of the other ones, supposedly. I've only seen clips so far. WHAT???? The eloquent, focused, aristocratic Mayor of Chicago didn't NAIL IT????? NOT BUYING IT!!!! [/mega-green]

QUOTE (Baines3 @ Oct 2, 2009 -> 12:33 AM) I'll be 59 in 2016, Uggh!!! I'll be 53 and far, far away from Chicago for those two weeks if Chicago "wins" the Olympics.

QUOTE (SoxAce @ Oct 1, 2009 -> 03:05 PM) Yea.. Interesting to see Hendry on right now. I like him enough. Can't wait to see Hjalmarsson for a full season and I have no idea why the org. doesn't like Aaron Johnson at all. I have no idea who the hell Radek Smolenak is though. Tony, Jeff, Andy, Mike, Critic, Steve, etc.. Anyone? Why.....he's the Next Big Thing, of course!! Nah, I had no idea who he is when the Hawks acquired him, but based on those 2 goals against some nobody overseas team he has CLEARLY beaten Skille for a roster spot.
