Official Squared Circle Thread

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Oct 20, 2009 -> 07:22 AM) Legacy is this --> Yeah, they've wanted to turn DiBiase face for a while now. I don't know if he can carry a push by himself. I thought Legacy was/is a good vehicle for all three of them. It gave a couple nondescript wrestlers in Rhodes and DiBiase a good storyline, it boosted the tag team scene, and it helped the image of Orton as a guy with a lot of bravado who still needed guys to help him. -
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 19, 2009 -> 10:00 AM) When you are paying the guy what you are, you are pretty much stuck with him play a pretty significant amount. It's nice that "Chicago" isn't the punch line to that joke anymore.

QUOTE (bmags @ Oct 16, 2009 -> 10:01 AM) I never get these emails. And if my grandma sent them to me I would change emails. I'd keep the email and change grandmas.

I heard on the radio this morning that cops asked the kid why he was hiding in a box and he told them "we did it for a show". Shocking.

Pretty much nothing, as it turns out.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Oct 15, 2009 -> 04:36 PM) why? Because historically a large percentage of weird domestic s*** happens in Florida. Weird international s*** is predominantly German by nature. Thus the classic Loveline game, Germany Or Florida?

This is what happens when news outlets have to be FIRST ON THE SCENE to get EXCLUSIVE BREAKING NEWS. They don't wait to find out what actually happened, instead they take every rumored scenario and throw it on the air. Was that falling mass a second kid? WHERE IS THE SECOND CHILD???? BREAKING EXCLUSIVE ON THE SCENE NEWS!!! SECOND CHILD ONBOARD BALLOON NOW MISSING, PRESUMED DEAD OR AT LEAST MANGLED FROM HORRIFIC FALL!!!! ....or not....

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 14, 2009 -> 05:06 PM) I think if you aren't on a two way contract, you go on to irrevocable waivers. And that would be a bad thing WHY? ...I was just joking about that, though.

If that's the case, why don't they send Huet down today and call up Crawford, since Niemi's playing? Man, did Tallon f*** up the cap situation.

Chris Chelios to Sign With The Wolves
The Critic replied to hogan873's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
I hope his time on the Wolves is very short. He's always been one of my least favorite players, and I really would think twice about going to a Wolves game while he's on the roster. -
Skille sent down again....no, WAIT....Skille CALLED UP again. Happens so often I lost track of whether he was promoted or demoted.

RIP Captain Lou Albano
The Critic replied to Kenny Hates Prospects's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
I feel bad for his family and his friends. ....but.... I think he was really not very good as a manager. Lots of fast-talk and yelling and not much interesting stuff being yelled or said quickly. Kind of like Lewis Black in that regard. -
Daley would have fixed it if he'd gotten the Olympics.

I know this will be met with much happiness around here. The Red Wings looked HORRIBLE tonight. How the hell did that team beat the Hawks? They gave up a half-dozen to a Buffalo team that had 4 goals in their first 3 games!

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 12, 2009 -> 02:30 PM) And I will say this at the risk of pissing some people off, but hard core hockey fans tend to be the biggest snobs about other fans. I think because the fraternity of hockey fans is smaller, they are more sensitive to "bandwagon" fans than other sports. I would absolutely agree with this.

QUOTE (SHIPPS @ Oct 12, 2009 -> 06:44 AM) I was at the Hawks game on Friday and I have to say being a newer Hawks fan it is pretty intimidating having so many smart Hawks fans there (atleast in my section). These guys really knew their stuff and it was like they could sniff out guys like me and didnt really respect my fandom. It was pretty funny on the way to Westend on the shuttle after the game. Carmen and Silvy from ESPN were on the bus and everyone was giving them s***. They were really cool about it though. Don't let other fans' knowledge of the game intimidate you, Shipps. Everyone was a "newer fan" at some point, and you don't have to know who Lou Angotti or Jerry Korab were to be a "real" Hawks fan. Just go to the games and enjoy it, and don't worry whether anyone else respects your fandom. If you're into the Hawks, you're a fan.

QUOTE (G&T @ Oct 10, 2009 -> 07:49 AM) That's like $80 today. You bet your bippy it is!
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 11, 2009 -> 03:35 PM) Now that the Bulls aren't asking him to do anything more than be an adequate backup center, I have little problem with him. I think he's an adequate backup center, which isn't bad for a 2nd round pick/a $1 million a year deal. Overpaid in real world dollars, a relative bargain in sports money.

GO HAWKS!!

They're not booing, they're saying HYOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO-AYY.

I actually never did the Columbia House thing, but my brother did, and yeah, it's a long-term commitment. They just never had enough current music that I liked, and would have to buy eventually, to justify grabbing some back catalog for a penny. But I do remember the first three albums (YES, albums, you whippersnappers) I bought with my own money. Kiss Alive Van Halen debut album Cheap Trick At Budokan (import double-album....at Sears....for 25 bucks in 1978!)

QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Oct 9, 2009 -> 06:35 PM) I didn't want it to come off like I was happy for the injury, so apologizes if it came out that way. No, I got what you meant, I just thought referring to it as a win could be taken the wrong way. But injuries do happen in sports, obviously, and Franzen's injury actually is advantageous to the Hawks. It sucks, but that's part of sports.
