  1. Southwest isn't serving alcohol right now. Torre is 81 and his birthday was in July. No mlb manager is going to say a player is gone or that a lock out is happening. Gotta wonder why people like this make up stories online.
  2. The implication by some "insiders" is the sox would not pick up kimbrel option if hahn did not know for a fact he could trade him for something of value. Picking up an option then off loading for salary relief would be absurd. So my question remains, just as absurd as you found Baltas post, I find it absurd a team would tell another team that if they pick up a big option on a reliever they'd trade for it. I've said before, I don't think kimbrel is worth 1 yr 16 million. It would be much wiser strategically to do what balta implied than it would be to do what people like Jimmy have been implying.
  3. What benefits does a team get out of telling a team if they pick up a 16 million dollar contract they'll happily trade for it? Why would you help another team decide whether or not they should pick up a contract?
  4. And yet, the mariners traded his contract and got a top prospect in return
  5. This isn't an unpopular opinion, it's flat out idiotic and laughably absurd.
  6. I misstated that, it was in 10 of 16 games. Still pretty good.
  7. Braves gave up 2 er or less in 10 post season games.
  8. Lynn is his grandal of the pitchers. Been talking about how fat and worthless Lynn is for months now.
  9. You keep blaming Hosmer playing first for his poor war. Guy was the 3rd worst 1st baseman in baseball last year of 26 qualified. Has nothing to do with first. Hosmer just sucks dude. Who knew you were hanging out in the clubhouse.
  10. Paul Konerko spent 16 years with the White Sox, hit 439 career homers, and had a career wRC of 118! He had 8 years with wRC+ over 120, 5 years over 130. Eric Hosmer spent SEVEN years with the Royals, had 125ish homers and had a wRC+ over 130 one time. Comparing Eric Hosmer to Paul Konerko is hilarious. Pretending their impacts were anywhere near similar on the organizations is also hilarious.
  11. Hosmer was never a megastar; although I think you might be being sarcastic. That signing was a complete disaster from the second they made it. I'm not sure there's been a player in the past 10 years whose narrative has not matched his level of play more than Hosmer. Caufields obsession with a guy who has 11 career fWAR in 1550 career games is amazing. WAR hasn't been kind to Abreu because of his glove issues, and he's accumulated 23 fWAR in 1100 games. Hosmer is a clown; a rich clown at that.
  12. See you both when the Season starts in June!
  13. The Ricketts are a complete disaster of an ownership group and if they owned the Sox their payroll would be at like 120 million. The Ricketts don't have anywhere near the liquidity that you're implying here, and winning ranks very far down on the goals of their ownership.
  14. The only thing that could have possibly caused me to lose interest in White Sox baseball would have been if Steve Cohen bought the team. Not many more evil or scummy people in the history of the financial industry which is really really saying something. Amazing he's not in jail honestly.
  15. Received an E-Mail from Ticketmaster this morning telling me that now that they've received money from the White Sox they processed my refund today. Found it funny that they passed the buck onto the team repaying them.
  16. Pick one of the options below. If you pick an option that is high or low, why?
  17. The astros were very good, no argument from me... but they were very good because they have a staff that maximizes their talent. WAR is not the only thing that matters but its a pretty good indicator of talent levels. The sox had a higher team WAR than the stros despite all the injuries. The pitching failed in the playoffs and that happens sometimes. There Is not some large talent gap between the two teams, but there is a data and execution gap that the Sox should want to close. The sox have so much talent they could face the astros next year and sweep them and I wouldn't be surprised. The problem the sox face is when the talent gap is tight and closer, the little things can have a much greater impact. We saw that. The sox should acquire more talent and maybe, if they do, they won't have to overcome the leadership shortcomings because they'll be that much more talented. In small samples anything can happen, and we see that time and time again, but being really talented and executing/placing guys in optimal positions to succeed gives you a better chance.. but heck, look at the rays as an example that that alone doesn't guarantee anything either. The more times you go dancing the more likely you are to get laid at least once afterwards... but it doesn't hurt to improve your odds everytime by executing better on the dance floor.
  18. The Sox were 27-29 vs teams over 500 (48.2% wp) Braves were 31-37 vs .500 teams (45.5% wp) Let's assume the Sox played 12 more games vs 500 teams at the exact same win% that they had. They'd have gone 5.7 and 6.3. I'll round down just to make your point happy. 5-7 The Sox were 66-40 vs teams with losing records (63% wp) Over 12 games that's 7 wins and 5 losses. So if the Sox played 12 more winning teams and we rounded down their win % to make you happy, they'd have finished the season 91-73. Still 3 more wins than the Braves who are now in the world series. SOS in baseball is almost completely meaningless as the difference, as i showed above, is 1-3 wins. Not the 10+ wins fans want to claim. If the Braves were in the AL, they wouldn't have made the playoffs in the WC or a single division, see how stupid those what ifs are? Edit: and if we want to discuss expected outcomes, we should be accounting for the Sox expected record and then deviating from there. The sox expected win total was 97.
  19. It's not an excuse, it's an example that the playoffs are a crap shoot and implying this team could never win a World Series ignores reality and the facts in front of your face. You can be disappointed with how the Sox performed in the playoffs and also realize that this team was also capable of winning a title just like every other team in the playoffs.
  20. Braves were 31-37 against teams better than .500. Braves won an awful division with less than 90 wins. It's IMPOSSIBLE for this Sox team to make or win a World Series. The playoffs are not a coin flip where fluke things, like Eddie Rosario becoming a god, have much impact at all. We should blow up the entire roster, because we have no chance! We had a losing record vs winning teams and only won our division because it sucked.
  21. Rosario had a fluke playoff run. Acting as if that is somehow predictable is comical,
  22. Neither semien nor garcia were let go because of defensive shortcomings. What are you talking about. Avi wasn't even dealt. Jfc. And why could the sox have used Omar Navarez? Were the sox going to sit their star catcher in thr playoffs lol.
  23. If Chris Taylor is somehow going to get paid well because of a few good post-season games it's safe to say I have zero interest in him. Gonna be 32, is a fine piece but not a star by any means.
  24. Where did it say that? Why would it take 4-6 weeks to refund anything? Supposedly refunds were set to process the day after elimination.
