  1. Jim isn't perfect, but he does have a strong historical understanding of the organization and it's players and is a good reference for White Sox history imo. He also doesn't pretend to have knowledge or ideas on potential trades or inside info. Nelson on the other hand... he has been portraying himself as that kind of person in the last year and it's just not a good look on him. He's that drunk guy at games yelling behind you things that leave you wondering if it was their first baseball game ever, or if they've ever even picked up a bat before.
  2. Josh Nelson really has no idea what he's talking about. He seems like a nice guy, but his knowledge on contracts, baseball, trade value and player values, and beyond is just so poor for someone who speaks on so many platforms about the game. I don't neccessarily disagree with the general point he's making here, but listening to this guy talk about baseball and the White Sox is like listening to Chicago White Sox talk about making rational life decisions on where one should live and why. edit: Southside2k on one of his weird post deleting tantrums.
  3. All jokes aside, FTR, everyone who plays baseball at any high level speaks "baseball."
  4. I wouldn't have signed josh Harrison with $5 of your money.
  5. not my money; all I care about is the Sox winning games and championships. I'd sign him for 100 million of jerry's money tomorrow and the next day. guy has gotten filthy rich enough off support from people like myself.
  6. Calling him a platoon bat is pretty disingenuous.
  7. Which is kind of why I think the Sox are a real nice fit for him because they smash lefties and can afford a bat who struggles a bit against them.
  8. Think Conforto is in one of those tough spots too where he had a bigger offer on the table previously than he is likely being offered now, and he's just trying to get back to that initial Mets offer so he doesn't have egg on his face.
  9. I don't blame her one bit, but I do blame ChiSox59 because he's a grown man. Say it whifff your chest, young man.
  10. I bitched about trading for Cesar Hernandez; when you were out there talking about his power and needing him with other people on this very board. I pointed out at the time of the trade that there was a very good possibility based on his production and approach change that Leury Garcia would/could outperform him the rest of the year. People called me crazy then. Now I'm saying that I'd rather have Cesar Hernandez - someone I never liked and hated trading for - than Josh Harrison because Leury Garcia is even more likely to be better or as good as Harrison as he was for Cesar Hernandez. You're acting like I am some Cesar Hernandez fan. I never wanted him. Hated the trade. But it's undeniably much more likely that he outperforms Josh Harrison in 2022 than vice versa. My personal feelings about a guy are entirely irrelevent when evaluating expected outcomes, and front offices should be making decision based on expected outcomes and not some preconceived notion of his body language in the eyes of ChiSox59.
  11. Your passive aggressiveness is similar to my wifes. Josh Harrison hasn't had a better/more productive season than Cesar Hernandez since 2015. Harrison is also 3 years older than him. In what world is that me knowing best? It's stating data based on actual outcomes that Josh Harrison is not as good of a player as Cesar Hernandez.
  12. Pal, you posted: "The Sox are definitely interested in Conforto, even if it hasn't been super publically stated." How can you state something so absolutely without an inkling of evidence supporting your claim? Then get upset by anyone calling the proclamation without merit?
  13. People are asking for Cesar back instead because he's unquestionably better than Josh Harrison; despite what you feel about his "demeanor" or "emotional fit."
  14. Not the Sox? Difference is I don't think a lot of other fanbases are out their floating offers their teams have probably made to a guy they haven't been linked to. Also difference is teams like the Red Sox have openly admitted they're still looking to acquire some marquee free agents. Mets have recently leaked their offer to Conforto and discussed AAV. The Sox have basically openly bowed out of the FA discussions, at least publicly.
  15. Yeah, OAA liked him; UZR, DRS, and FG didn't like him so much. Defensive metrics are pretty voliatile in general, I'll usually take the average or culmination of them all over about a 3 year window. Doing that, he's pretty neutral - just looking at 2B. He's been pretty solid at 3B, but not really needed. He's been terrible everywhere else.
  16. Limits on these at BO are microscopic, so I'd wait on some Pinnacle or Bookmaker #'s, but that said this feels about right. Sox are in a bad division which hopefully should inflate their win totals a bit.
  17. There is more to taxes than income tax, but even beyond that we paid Harrison 5.5 million so his take home post tax will be $5,227,750. Obviously Miller is getting the 2nd year guaranteed though which is a difference.
  18. Where is this Harrison is a great defender narrative coming from? He's been a neutral or negative defender via multipl metrics since 2017.
  19. I just have no idea why people here can say this with such confidence. They haven't been legitimately linked to him outside of the "he'd be a good fit" crowd. At this point, I'd be surprised if the Sox even have an offer out there for Conforto.
  20. I just really don't like or trust montas. If you have doubts about crochet as a starter, Sheets + him would be fine for a nice arm. Not sure I trust the sox to assess crochet at this point. If he has any chance of starting I wouldn't move him. If he doesn't, I'd ship him.
  21. Yeah, and honestly I was really pleasantly surprised by his LF last year. He is serviceable out there; far from a butcher and possibly even slightly plus because he catches everything he gets to and it's a horrible defensive position. Right Field seems absolutely outrageous; not only does he have limited range but his arm is a 1st base arm.
  22. lol ok pal. I'll go ahead and not look at 328 PA's and 160 PA's as the be-all-end-all for guys. Sheets was a pleasant surprise last year. Vaughn is one of the better hitting prospects of my lifetime.
  23. Amazing thing is even with a couple rough months, Vaughn was top 35ish in avg EV, top 30ish in max EV, top 40ish in Hard hit %, top 50ish in barrel %. Vaughn is going to be about as consistent and good of a hitter as the Sox have seen since Frank.
  24. Vaughn has had some of the most ridicolous circumstances put in front of him after being draft. Missed season from COVID, brought right up next year. Asked to play positions he's never played. Vaughn still one of the three best college hitters I've ever seen. Guys swing is bum proof as I call it; no wasted movement, barrel in the zone for so long, direct path to the ball. Vaughn is going to be a stud. It was all a timing issue, and having never seen those big league sliders low and away. He'll figure that out sooner than later, and the guy will be a straight machine afterwards.
