  1. LOL at you thinking Manny Machado would go "under the wing" of any player in MLB.
  2. So we're just pretending A Rod didn't hit 57 homers in a season as a SS now? And 345 at that position in his career?
  3. ... but he sucked last year, which is what we were talking about? He had a 5.6 ERA. Probably found a new Chemist this year!
  4. Yeah, I mean besides all the position players the Sox have developed over the past few years who have they actually developed!?!?
  5. Oh, me too. If Robert was a better hitter than Frank Thomas in his career, given his base running and defense you'd likely be talking about one of the two-three best players ever to play the game. He'd be better than Trout since Frank was better offensively than Trout and Robert is better defensively than Trout. I just think the post was diminishing the greatness of Frank Thomas.
  6. Frank Thomas is arguably the greatest right handed hitter the game has ever seen. Saying if Robert is healthy he'll surpass Frank's offensive numbers is quite the reach. Agree that from a complete player standpoint he has a chance to be the best to put on a Sox uniform, but him being better than Frank offensively for his career is probably about 1%.
  7. Probably better off selling them here at face value; I'm sure there would be a lot of takers.
  8. ReyLo gave up 7 runs to the Angels, and the Indians have the 20th ranked offense in MLB and he couldn't get through 4 innings against them in the last start. Oakland and Cincy are fine.
  9. Or it means that he's faced poor teams, and that a lot of his appearances so far have been only seeing a lineup 1 time through. His numbers as a starter are significantly worse than his numbers as a reliever. Of his 202 batters faced, 136 of those have come on the first time through the order (nearly 70%). Meaning a majority of hitters are not seeing him twice.
  10. The guy who got douchey at someone responding to them was you, not me pal. I didn't say anything demeaning to you or about your post. I merely commented on the context. I'm sorry that appeared to hurt your feelings and wish you the best in your future therapy sessions to overcome said Trauma.
  11. yet he had that surgery before the AAA season started and got lit up like a pinata. The key to his success has mostly been driven by facing bad teams, having a low BABIP, and getting more swings on pitches out of the zone; I won't say he's not more competitive around the zone which has helped with that, but I don't find that to be very sustainable. His slider velocity increase is really the only thing I see on his profile that is really compelling; likely tighter spin and more difficult to pick up. He likely still sucks.
  12. Sorry for presenting statistics to the discussion. We'll just go off your surface level thoughts instead!
  13. But he's not throwing more strikes. His zone percentage is actually below where it was in 2019 and he's not really generating more swings and misses. He's had a cupcake schedule in terms of his match-ups and been put in a perfect position to perform a little better. His BABIP against is 213 which is really what is driving his success for the most part; that and the walk rate decline, but it doesn't seem that his walk rate improvement is sustainable. He's getting quite a few more swings outside the zone, but I'm not sure how long that will really last, and he's getting fewer swings on pitches in the zone. Rolling into next year with Reylo as your 5th starter would be a bad idea IMO; I think he can be depth for the rotation but he shouldn't be counted on.
  14. I believe you'd buy game 2. Game 1 is a weekend game I'm hoping. My wife can't miss work if it's a weekday day game
  15. it didn't look good when I was just buying with my early eligibility code.
  16. Actually it's completely different given that the city/park district own Soldier Field.
  17. "Leasing" the land, which is really a stretch given the terms of the deal, to a private entity is BS. And sorry, but I don't put George Lucas Star Wars -- sorry, "Museum of Narrative Art" lol -- Museum in the category of educational Science and Industry and Field Museum class. George Lucas shouldn't have anymore of a right to lease land on the lakefront than any other resident of Chicago.
  18. No, I'm not a big parking lot guy but I'm certainly not a big private business buying up lakefront land that has been off limits for the entirety of the cities existence guy. The city has sold it's soul away for the mighty dollar enough already; leave the damn lake front alone.
  19. The entire estate tax issue I believe is likely driving the McCaskeys to sell, and I think they'll likely do it sooner than later. That said, it won't be completed quickly by any means. I think the point in this thread that this improves the that value of the team is true, and I think there are plenty of ultra-rich that would love to buy the Bears and would have no issues financing the stadium in Arlington to become a major revenue generator for them. I think it's almost safe to say the Bears are done with Soldier Field; likely won't happen until 2025-2026, but they're moving out. It will never happen but I'd love to see the Sox move to the lakefront. They've already desecrated Soldier Field when they remodeled it so what's the point of even keeping it there? Tear it down and put the Sox stadium there. I've seen a lot of pandering for Bezo's to buy the team; I certainly hope not but it does feel like a real possibility. The McCaskeys are a lot of things but they aren't complete scum and trash. It's frustrating having them own the Bears from a financial standpoint but they seem like good enough people. I feel the same way about Jerry; for an uber rich guy he's one of the better ones.
  20. Crazy how? I have no problem with them not allowing people to build on the lakefront.
