  1. I have been saying the Sox aren't signing any of those guys. They should, but no chance they do. They instead did what they always do and wasted a ton of money on guys, some of which have a very good chance of being bad enough to be DFA'ed mid year.
  2. I mean Hahn actually said they misread the market before the lockout and didn't expect all those signings and offers out there.
  3. Reading both their tweets, they feel like story tellers. I think they're probably right that sox aren't spending more. I don't think jr has seen "the books."
  4. This guy running off talking about how he's seen the "books" and the sox don't make any profit at all and if they do put it all back into the team is what gave this guy away as a fraud to me. Hes seen the books and is spouting off on Twitter about it to everyone? Seems unlikely
  5. Joc has been receiving some not great advice from his agent recently it sounds like. ALthough Atlanta may have told him they weren't retaining him.
  6. I'm not sure when Pal became an insider instead of an insult, but I'm not buying it either way.
  7. Engel can't really hit righties and Joc can't hit lefties while Engel can. Wouldn't be the worst pair in mlb history.
  8. I didn't want Joc, although I'd trust him more to hit righties than Sheets. I just thought it was hilarious Hahn gave Harrison only .5 million less.
  9. Joc got .5 million more than Hahn gave Harrison. You can't make this shit up
  10. The current platoon contains 2 first basemen and the man of glass. Although I'll say Vaughn is fine in LF. I'd trust Joc vs righties more than sheets though.
  11. Ok. Rockies twice, sox twice in past 5. Doesn't change much.
  12. Last 14 years rockies have been to playoffs 4 times. 1 more time than the Sox. They're run by idiots, but crazier things have happened.
  13. Bryant can play 3B too, and I don't see anyone going to 7 years or even 6 for Conforto and Castellanos. Bryant has a larger pedigree and has actually been an MVP before who plays everywhere. He's risky because he's regressed, but I don't consider Conforto or Castellanos all that similar.
  14. Me neither, but Kris Bryant has nothing to do with the sunken Arenado $. Those prospects cost that money, nothing more, nothing less.
  15. Not as baffling as that weird comparison Sherman is making, as if somehow Kris Bryant costs both his contract and the sunk cost that was Arenado's contract, which also netted the Rockies prospects.
  16. Yeah, I'd love to know what the next closest offer was. This seems like an extra year and an extra 20+ish million to get him to play in Colorado.
  17. Yeah, I think Colorado benefits from two things: 1. His numbers from a counting standpoint should be really good if he stays healthy there. He could have some monster seasons. 2. There is some actual upside to this deal potentially. I think there's obviously a lot of health risk and downside there, but if he can somehow reclaim his form or even 90% of it, he could be a great player on a terrible team.... and outperform the contracts value. which is the weird part.
  18. The Rockies are weird, that's for sure. Great news for me, and good for Bryant for getting paid. Crazy that he ended up ONLY getting 182 million when a couple years ago he was a guaranteed 300 million guy.
  19. Would have laughed, but gotta keep your ratio alive!
  20. I don't think there's anything weird about wanting to step away, but that response feels a little bit like he feels the Sox have told him they're not going to extend him further.
  21. Definintely a weird change in enthusiasm for being a White Sox for life he were to continue playing.
  22. What a beautiful normal distribution we have here.
  23. I think the Sox are good, certainly, but I don't think they are the best team in the AL. They weren't last year, other teams have improved and the Sox have gotten slightly worse. Whether Houston is better depends a lot on Correa and maybe another SP add, but the three AL East teams still seem better imo.
  24. How? Garrett made 2 million. Minor 9 million and it says the Royals sent cash with Minor.
