  1. How? Garrett made 2 million. Minor 9 million and it says the Royals sent cash with Minor.
  2. I mentioned yesterday I'm not a huge fan of A's pitchers given how pitcher friendly that ballpark is and their natural regression when they leave there, but I'd pay for Sheets plane ticket myself, first class, if it meant shipping just him for either one of those guys.
  3. Hmm, why would you trade vaughn before Sheets? Do you think Sheets has a higher ceiling than Vaughn or just less value? I don't think any team would rather have Sheets than Vaughn going forward.
  4. For what it's worth, the Yankees have by far the highest projected WAR as of today.
  5. Jimmy was lauding the Harrison signing like 3 days ago.
  6. Eh, you're losing it here. The lineup without two of those guys was top 5 in baseball last year. I think Vaughn takes a pretty nice step forward this year and they have a nice top 7. That should put them firmly in the top 6-7 lineups in the game with variance really only seperating them from the top 3. Toronto probably has the best lineup in baseball this year with the Stros close behind - especially if they sign Correa. After that, the Sox could finish anywhere from 3-8 assuming no catastrophic injuries or something. The problem with the Sox is they need an elite offense because of those top teams, they have by far the worst defense and it's not all that close. Edit; forgot about the Dodgers so they're in that top 3 group as well. Especially with Freeman.
  7. Given that some find it funny to say the Sox roster is somewhere around 7-10 in baseball and not really "one of the best in the game" as I'd define it, where does everyone rank this current roster? To give an idea on other teams. Yankees Rays Blue Jays Houston Dodgers Mets Giants Braves Brewers Are teams that are within a similar win total projection. Teams outside that Angels Red Sox Cardinals Where would you rank this current roster? Still a decent amount of free agents out there so feel free to wait to vote if you'd like to see how things shake out a little more.
  8. Soler might actually be a worse defensive outfielder than Daniel Palka. It seems impossible, I know... but it might be real.
  9. Hahn was caught off guard by how quickly the outfield market moved after the lockout ended. He thought he'd have until early April to sign an outfielder. He just miscalculated it otherwise he would have crushed it.
  10. Hate to say it, but likely karma for all your short jokes.
  11. Kelly has a longer track record as a reliever at least and has a less guarantee. I don't think either were that smart of contracts, given what we've seen guys like Martin/Mchugh/Former Cub Pornstar get in the past couple days.
  12. YoU tHiNk YoU cOuLd Do BeTtEr?!?!
  13. Oh I'm sorry for breaking down potentail ways the Sox could have spent their money differently. In the future I'll just laud the front office and defer to their expertise as to not upset you with the conversations and analysis going in a direction you don't approve of.
  14. In the AL? Yankees, Astros, Rays, Blue Jays. NL; Dodgers, Mets. On par with the Sox, Braves, Brewers. Think you could argue the Giants are better as well.
  15. I think the Graveman one was even more egregious. 1 year of 3.2 FIP baseball as a reliever in his career. Not a huge strike out guy, expected ERA was north of 3.7. Pretty decent BABIP luck last year. No reason to give him 3 years at 8 million per year. Projections, which aren't perfect given his change as a pitcher slightly last year, paint him as a 3.7 ERA reliever going forward with FIP's near or over 4.
  16. I've really come around on Schwarber in the last 12 months or so; definitely agree that he appears to have found an approach that works for him, is attacking his pitch more often. Think he has a big 4 years under this deal. Has a chance to be a 950 OPS player every year. Sox should have pushed for this given that they have no DH.
  17. Also, the Sox roster is around the 4th or 5th best in the AL. Adding in the NL, and the Sox have around the 8-9th best roster in baseball. If you want to call that one of the "best rosters in baseball" go right ahead, but I'll go ahead and disagree with that sentiment. They didn't lose on purpose for three years, tear it down, and rebuild to come out of it with a back end of the top 10 rosters in the MLB. That's not success in my opinion. Could a roster at that level win a World Series? Sure, anyone who gets into the playoffs can, but that certainly wasn't the goal when they put together this core.
  18. Eloy is not moving from LF. I have no idea where some people come up with this shit. The White Sox put Eloy back in LF last year after he badly injured himself. They're not moving him out of LF. There's literally no evidence the Sox intend to move Eloy out of LF, regardless of what you think or what scenario's you've dreamed up in your head. So we're again back at... Sheets is very possibly your DH. You just said we didn't need Schwarber because we don't need a DH, and then you said that Sheets is a depth piece and shouldn't be starting as a DH. And I'm the one who talking to is like smashing your head into a wall. My goodness.
  19. @ChiSox59 reading comprehension not your strength, bud? You named sheets AND the sox starting left fielder who is eloy. No where did i say you called sheets the sox starting left fielder please don't try to dunk on me when you don't even know what was said
  20. Who said you did? Eloy is the teams starting left fielder. Not sure what you don't understand. You named sheets/Eloy as the DH. Given that Eloy is the left fielder, that means sheets is your DH. So the sox don't have a dh as I said. And every off season I gotta listen to people like you say don't birch until it's over lol. How many years of this before you understand the sox don't sign people in confortos price range.
  21. Silly analysis? The Sox spend money like this every off-season. The only one that really impacts the guaranteed money is Conforto too, so really not that silly. Leury/Harrison are both getting about the same amount of guaranteed dollars as Escobar/Miller. 21.5 million to 23 million. Chris Martin/Knebel are getting less guaranteed than Joe Kelly and Graveman - by a lot to, 41 million to 12.5 million. Kimbrel/Velasquez obviously getting less guaranteed than Conforto who we'll estimate around 85/90 million - so 19 million vs 90 million Total in guarantees: 81.5 million vs 124 million. Give or a take a few for Brad Miller and Conforto. Hardly a 100 million dollar difference and they fill the RF hole.
  22. But you just said the Sox have a DH and then named Sheets and the Sox starting LF lol. So it sounds like, to me, the SOx don't have a DH?
  23. Fair point, but most of that is Conforto.
  24. You honestly believe that Gavin Sheets is a proven DH on a WS contender? Like having Gavin Sheets makes you say... I don't want Kyle Schwarber instead? THat's crazy imo. Eloy Jimenez is the teams starting LF'er.
