  1. I still am not really sold on the bullpen so I'm hesitant to really change anything about my expectations. While I agree last year was a fluke - they led baseball in blown saves despite the fewest opps - this team is arguably worse on paper. Paper doesn't mean anything, but the fact you can argue that isn't a glowing endorsement for the group.
  2. Lol Bannister isn't targeting Perez. He is who he is and isn't being "fixed."
  3. Has nothing to do with the White Sox, but i like to put starts in perspective. Devers is 0-19 with 15 strike outs.
  4. When we traded for Thorpe, the first guy i thought of was Paddack. Paddack throws harder, but he was a guy with an 80 grade change but limited secondaries and a flat fastball. I liked Paddack. I learned my evaluation lesson with him as it relates to elite change ups (unique too) but limited other offerings.
  5. Agreed. I was shocked that a couple rough months with the pirates tanked his value so much. He was solid in SD and in a game desperate for arms he's serviceable, reliable. He'll get lit up plenty, but he's capable.
  6. Perez is solid. The k's are surprising, but he knows how to get big leaguers out with lesser stuff and has made a career of it. He'll finish around a 4.4 ERA as he has most of his career.
  7. Their projection is for about 50 wins. If they shock the world, they'd lose less than 100 games. No matter how you cut it, this team will be very bad.
  8. That's all pitchers care about anyway lol. And if it were like 8 unearned I'd be hesitant to give credit.
  9. 2 got through six which is impressive to start the year. Perez could make 3. Hilarious that one of the worst teams of all time could set a record like that.
  10. So if the Sox pull Perez, they will have been the first team in MLB history to have their starters give up 0 runs in the first four games of a season. What a crazy sport this game is.
  11. Congrats and good luck. Two is definitely a bit more but so far they've been good sleepers. That's all I can ask for! The question is, can this offense be stopped?!??!
  12. 2nd. I got 2 under 19 months because i love pain. I didn't take leave right away this time, so gonna enjoy the time more with the little dude since he's more active.
  13. Luis heard stoney running his mouth so had to prove a point. I'm on paternity leave for 6 weeks starting today. Love daytime baseball!
  14. Meidroth probably has a better shot at being a regular. Baldwin just doesn't have a carry skill, and he's light in a lot of areas. This team badly needs Sosa and Vargas to become MLB regulars. I have faith Sosa will do it, but it's scary to think we're relying on that. Relying, meaning we don't have other contenders on this roster to he even everyday regulars imo.
  15. Yes, every team would be younger if you eliminate there older players from the calc.
  16. He's a very good defender. Problem is the Sox aren't short on outfield defense so his purpose doesn't make any sense for this roster.
  17. One of the Sox favorite past times is starting guys they're going to designate a few days later.
  18. I still think a ++ GM could get a haul for robert. Values are set by market factors. Cf is incredibly weak and thin. Robert gives a team a huge edge over those they are competing with. You should be able to sell his value and ceiling given how weak the position is and talented he is.
  19. Exactly. It's obviously not a huge edge but I bet it makes a difference. Hitters need all the edges they can get these days.
  20. Most bats, interestingly enough, haven't maximized the circumference of their bats. This means the end really isn't that much thinner. Where the Yankees have taken this a step further (hilarious to hear sox just heard about it lol) is they've actually built custom barrels based on where the player most frequently makes contact. Volpes stack is more towards the handle than the sweet spot. This means I'd guess that you wouldn't see much difference in off-the end contact types and quality as the end of the bats have not changed much.
  21. Agreed, but hard not to really like what the staff has shown so far.
  22. After the Yankees hit 700 homers in two days I'm guessing we'll see a lot more trying. Would be nice to see hitters find an advantage for once after years of pitching gain
  23. Sox celebrating having a hitting coach. Yankees reinventing bats with someone from MIT.
