I'm not blaming the fans, for the record - I completely, 100%, understood the fans who left after '94. That was one of the most egregious acts by ownership in the history of sports. This is no where near as bad as '94. Not even in the same hemisphere. People had waited 80 years for a chance at a team that good, and Jerry put the BUSINESS before the fans when he had the best group of players in the business. That has always been the case with Jerry. Great guy to work for, not the best guy rely on for big spending. The strike was so much worse I have no idea how you can even argue otherwise. It deprived us of the thing we are fans of - the game. There was no one to get mad at because there was nothing to watch or follow. The White Sox missed out on a free agent. It has happened before and it will happen again. Kenny WIlliams is a moron - he was a moron before and he'll be a moron tomorrow. but... all that said. The White Sox fans give them an excuse by never showing up. If the White Sox sold out every game, do you honestly think the White Sox would have an 80 million dollar payroll? Absolutely not. If the White Sox were better do I think they'd sell more tickets? Absolutely. But it's a two way street, and while winning is the fault of the club and the most important thing, the fans also don't help because they don't support winners until it's over.

Escobar had the 47th highest WAR in baseball last year for position players at 3.5. You simply can not argue that it would be better for him to play a super utility role unless that role encompasses him playing 145+ games a year. Sanchez absolutely has not had a season like that, but if he gets his wRC+ to 105 (which is 10 higher than his first full season) he's a 3 WAR player assuming his defense holds true. Last year there were only 59 players in baseball who accumulated 3 WAR. If Yolmer can get there for a couple years, he absolutely should be starting.

What do you mean invested? I split season tickets and I'm not happy with the lack of signing but I'm also not ending like this is the worst wrong of all time. I have no idea why you think you're going to cause Jerry reinsdorf to start spending big money or holding executives accountable. Sox havent drawn in over a decade - not even when spending much of a year in first. Sox fans want their ownership to act like a big market team but they dont support them like a big market team. You're allowing people who dont even play the game ruin it for you. It makes no sense. Unless you're a baseball fan because you like the business side of it but idk anyone that started watching baseball because they were a fan of Jerry reinsdorf. I'm not "viewing" it as a game pal, that's what it literally is.

Funny thing is some of the same people who pigeon hole Sanchez career at 26 years old bring up the Sox trading Eduardo Escobar for liriano.
-
Except that merchandise is distributed league wide, and TV contracts are already locked on. 180,000 tickets is about 3-4 million dollars.
-
Now you're just speaking in hindsight. Mikolas was going on 30 at the time he signed. Not sure how he's any different than Nova at all.

I have no idea how any can consistently say the things about Sanchez. He had a 2.2 WAR as a 24 year old. Is it possible he figures something out to hit for a higher average to compliment his defense and put up 3+ WAR seasons? Absolutely. If Sanchez isnt one of the guys you want to give playing time to then what are you talking about? I just don't get it. Maybe something clicks like it did his 2nd full go around in AA and AAA and he starts hitting 40 doubles and hitting 320. Who knows? Who did they miss out on that other teams were giving away? The viera and rondon deals were exactly what you are asking for. There arent exactly a lot of high ceiling and big talent guys with questions Mark's that are given away.

It's a game. Ownership and the front office arent who fans pay to watch. I'll enjoy the players here while still being upset with ownership. I'll move on to baseball because it's a game I enjoy following and watching and I'm not going to let JR ruin the fun and enjoyment I get from the game.

Belle literally couldn't have worked out any better.

Eh, hawk would have been 1000 times worse. Guy would go innings without talking. Hawk is a depressing announcer when they're really bad.

Well said. Last year I tuned in less than ever but I still followed everyday. I'm just not going to invest 3 hours a day 162 days a year on someone who isnt investing in winning yet. I'll still follow but I'm not recording games anymore and watching later. I will again one day, just not now.

Theres a massive difference between your rookie year and 2nd year in the NBA.
-
But theyre not a fan anymore so who cares? People who feel the need to post that they're not a fan of the team anymore on a forum of the teams fans because they didnt get what they want is the definition of a child.

It's ironic because most die hard fans ridicule the casual fan for being a fair weather fan... yet the die hard fans are quitting the fanbase because the Sox didnt sign someone who has never been on the Sox before. I said it before but this isnt even the 3rd worst thing that has happened being a sox fan since 1994. Sox finally rebuild and sign international talent to big money deals and everyone is going to quit when things start looking up because they fucked up signing machado because Jerry is a stingy dolt.

By the same metric used to define Sexton, Wendell Carter is the 60th of 65 centers in the entire NBA. I don't have him rated that poorly but you really dont think Wendell Carter's are available every year? Agree to disagree there. Center the weakest position in the NBA at the bottom too.
-
The triple was almost more impressive. Who needs machado or Harper when you have the next mays?
-
Yeah, wouldnt change a thing but I dont think most baseball fans know how good Cameron was - 50+ career WAR.
-
-
Just needs his hit tool to catch up with everything else but the kid is so gifted idk see how it doesnt. The amazing thing is even if the hit tool doesnt come around, hes Mike Cameron with more raw power. Cameron had a hell of a big league career.

He was pretty worn down at the end of the year. Most elite base stealers are much worse in the second half than first - especially little guys. Look at Altuves splits. Being a ++ runner has more to do with first to third instincts and taking the extra base. Instincts wise the kid was incredible at Oregon state. I think he'll be good there. He's a smart kid but his legs will wear down faster for sure.
-
Luis Robert has the loudest set of tools I've ever seen. His speed is truly mind blowing given his size.
-
Hmmm so the Dodgers didnt offer 10 years. Who knew?
-
He's on a horrible team with no support. He's a talented kid. the point is Wendell Carter's are available every year. Jmo. I don't know what Sexton will become but I'm pretty confident in saying what Wendell Carter can become.
-
I never once said Colin Sexton has been a good player so far but his ceiling is about 10 floors higher than Wendell Carter Jr. That was my point. Sexton has struggled mightily but he also has shown flashes of talent that Wendell Carter has not.

Another wonderful addition the to thread. If you want to refute me with facts and stats and etc go right ahead My trash NBA thoughts have made me quite a bit of money so I'll take that trash all day. Nothing better than people just saying something is trash without explaining why or refuting a claim. When I start calling people names and getting personal instead of addressing the post and refuting it logically let me know- at that point I will have lost.
