  1. not at all what he said. he said he doesn't know if it'll be this off-season or not but they will spend it on someone big... these guys just don't get it. This was the biggest fish.
  2. They don't have to overpay. They have to pay the most - juts like all other teams!
  3. THEY DON'T!!! They just need to give market value. These morons haven't figured this out yet. It's amazing.
  4. I was one of the most optimistic people here - you are literally just lying to yourself if you think the Sox have even a 1% chance of signing Harper. Hahn said they didn't get a chance to match. Also saying each player can decide what's lead them to sign... it's always guaranteed money Rick. How have they not figured this out!? Now he's citing they are still a changed organization... it's nonsense. "Pretty aggressive move." Why does he keep patting himself on the back. He says he doesn't give himself credit, but he keeps bringing it up. YOU GOT OUT BID BY THE FUCKING SAN DIEGO PADRES!!!
  5. I honestly have no idea how Shack can think otherwise now.
  6. Shack, you're just torturing yourself pal. The organization lied to you and everyone else - stop believing their BS sales tactic. They aren't in on Harper - he is a Philly. The Sox aren't prepared to do what it takes to sign a big star and they probably never will be with this current group. I have no idea why you're holding out hope. They have given you zero reason too - they've even said through their main mouthpiece that they are OUT.
  7. Sox are OUT on Harper. Unless everyone in the organization from the executive level has been lied to, the White Sox are not submitting a bid for Harper and ANY other FA they sign this year is a complete waste of money and resources which would be very White Sox.
  8. This angle is poor - he got 10 years and 300 million with a 5 year opt out. There were no "big boys" that were blowing that offer out of the water.
  9. Jim has made his feelings known pretty loudly. He is angry and has thought this whole thing - from the top down - should have been blown up with the rebuild.
  10. It's one of the best stadiums to watch a game at in baseball IMO, and I've been to about 20. I like the TV broadcast - the radio is comically bad. Best food in baseball for fans, and not a bad seat in house/can still walk around the entire park. l would much rather watch a game at Comiskey than Wrigley and that's not due to my fanhood.
  11. I am excited for Madrigal's this year too. I think the kid really really takes off. His wrist and wear down was expected and normal; power goes usually the year of a hand or wrist injury. Madrigal hits the ball with authority - he did with wood bats before. Kid will be a doubles machine with a .370 OBP and a GG at 2nd.
  12. We're White Sox fans. Our owner was at the forefront of a strike during our teams best season in decades. Our organization threw a World Series lol. Why are White Sox fans acting as if this is the worst act? The White Flag trade was just as bad if not worse; as was trading Chris Sale! We had a HOF player at a Jeff Keppinger contract and we traded him - it's not even that we had to sign him. This is life as a Sox fan... but honestly, who cares? I'm not saying having 27 titles would suck, but I probably wouldn't appreciate it or enjoy it as much. I wish there was more competence at the top, but I still love watching Tim Anderson play baseball... I love that swagger and I have the same attitude as Tim. You either with us, or get the fuck out the way. I'm not a Jerry Reinsdorf or Kenny Williams fan, I'm a Chicago White Sox fan. I watch for the players... I'm excited to see Eloy, Yoan and Timmy continue to develop. Excited to see Luis Gonzalez season in the minors this year. Excited to see if Hansen can bounce back, and how flat out dominant Cease can be in AAA to start the year. This is going to be fun in spite of ownership. Win or lose, I'll enjoy spending some time following the development over Bryce Bush from unknown to potential star in the making. As White Sox fans, just understand that misery is inevitable at some point. Failure and heart break... but then Joe Crede hits a double down the line in the 9th inning to win the game and propel you towards a World Series and you realize that you followed Joe Joe Crede since his A ball days. The White Sox need new leadership, and it won't be the first time, but I'll still watch because I'm a White Sox fan and our fan base has given up enough... which invevitably has led to this partially.
  13. They sold 3 million tickets when winning with big TV money and viewership. They're not going anywhere.

  15. If Manny gets hurt or struggles a bit more like 2 years ago, it would vindicate them in a way but the principle would be the same. They can talk big about being in these in the future but until the white Sox win one, none of that matters. I'm also afraid that people are right... Sox have dumb pride and are out on Harper for that perception. 326 for Harper is around what you thought hed get. I just dont get it. Looks like they decided this off season that manny was the guy and that's even worse.
  16. Could turn this into a lesson to the kids... cant always get what you want. Or take his ball and go to Nashville.
  17. Preller wasnt the GM in Texas. What big success stories does he have in San Diego? This is his 5th year now.
  18. I understand that but tatis had shown nothing different from the time he signed - as like the 30th ranked Latin prospect - and that trade. It's not like preller saw something hidden. He could have just signed him then.
  19. Lol. Preller, as well as every other team in baseball could have signed tatis - that's how little he got. He hadn't played a single pro game and the Sox traded him. Come on with the preller knew nonsense. He took a flyer and hit a grand slam
  20. Besides... we all have battered woman syndrome. What would being a white Sox fan mean without immense disappointment after irrational expectations?
  21. Those memories were created by enjoying something together with your family. Whether it was Durham, Karko, Martinez, or pablo ozuna, willie Harris and Chris widger... it didnt matter. They all found a way to give me some sort of happiness or anger. It's a game that takes up 3 hours of ones day... an escape from the daily grind and reality of life. But its played by people... and no matter how popular or unpopular - good or bad - they all can provide a moment of escape. Phillip Humber threw a perfect game! I understand being angry - I was as confident as anyone we would land manny. It sucks. But we've been the little brothers in this town for a long time and we should be able to take a few blows. Its frustrating but people usually are. The white Sox are the players - past and present - not ownership. Winning is always more fun than losing but man... you appreciate it and enjoy it more when it's not a common occurence. Anger is a natural reaction but dont deprive your kids of those same memories your dad and you had watching people play a game. Those memories weren't made because the white Sox gave bill Melton baseballs biggest contract. Memories are built win or lose - its merely a way to enjoy something together on a warm summer day. Or pass the time at work or home... or even gives you good conversation with family and friends. Relationships were built through that commonality and they're built thick. They have to be. We're white Sox fans. Here's to the Billy Piereces of the world. He missed out on the hall of fame by ONE vote because he played for the worst offenses baseball has ever seen. Billy loved white Sox baseball because it built memories for life. Billy was a family friend who helped instill that love of the Sox into my mind. It's just a game. Love the memories.. dont let a couple dopes deprive you and your family of that. Billy loved them and you could very well say they cost him a chance at the hof.
  22. Beat, not match. My goodness. He didnt say hey, they offered 10 years 300 million can you match it and we'll sign. He asked teams to beat the bid after the blind bidding. Not match. There is a very big difference.
  23. They would be/were asked to BEAT the offer. Not match it. They got a chance to BEAT it. Not match it. There is a monster difference.
  24. Yes. "We had a pretty idea where this was going." As Kenny said, they heard "rumors" of a 300 million dollar offer. Nothing official from Lozano but leaks. They bid and lost. Phillies had no interest in bidding. Lozano checks backs and they say same.
  25. Pal it's not rapport. You're not telling a team hey give me your best bid so I can go tell the team we want to play for to match. You're never getting a teams best offer that way and you're certainly not asking for best offers and turning the one teams around and telling the other team. You'll destroy your word in any negotiations going forward.
