  1. I can't do them anymore. I was listening to the game the other day on my way to dinner or something. It was the game where Anderson hit the bomb to center. There were two home runs hit that inning I believe, and I had no idea either was a homer because farmio didn't tell me. He acted like they were fly balls to center... and then suddenly he was like, and it's gone. You never know what is happening in the game with him.
  2. Yeah, I guess I view edgy as someone who acts a particular way with his own guys. I was kind of a competitive dick head - surprising I know - but it was because I wanted to win really badly with my guys. So yes, I think we're just disagreeing there. Eaton is what I would classify as a "ra-ra guy" and no one likes ra-ra guys who are fake. Eaton loves to slide to show that hes playing hard... one of those guys. Eaton was the annoying rara teammate always kissing coaches ass and talking loudest only when he could be heard by coaches or front office people and etc. Nick swisher was another rara guy who was an asshole when things weren't going well and loved to speak loudly in public settings but didnt actually care enough to sit down privately with teammates to Express things.
  3. Lol Eaton calling drake LaRoche the team leader was one of the most embarrassing things I've been in the professional baseball world. Good on Frazier for calling out his bullshit.
  4. Once again, it is derived from some absurd competitive drive. Sale, by all accounts, is a real nice teammate. He doesnt pass blame or point fingers. He owns things personally and supports his guys. The jersey cutting was a fuck you to management, not his teammates.
  5. Buster Posey is the best leader I've ever had the privilege to be around in the baseball world... he is the exact opposite of edgy or tough/mean. He's a selfless teammate in a world filled with selfishness. Buster is a pretty good winner too I'd say.
  6. Sale isnt really edgy. Sale is just uber competitive, there is a massive difference. Being an asshole and selfish dick are not good leadership traits regardless of profession.
  7. Jimmy Rollins walking around wondering why theres a fucking 12 year kid asking him if he wants to play cops and robbers 13 times a day.
  8. Yeah but not that low. The shift takes about 40 points off your expected BABIP.
  9. Tim Anderson has a 19% k-rate this year - that's under league average. Hard to tell what a kids contact skills are in high school.
  10. He's on pace for 3 WAR in rWAR and 6 WAR in fWAR because he grades out well defensively with fWAR and poorly defensively in rWAR. The point I'm making is offensively he's on pace for about 3 WAR which is all that matters with Harper. Defensive metrics are far too volatile to rely on them in a short sample - I'd argue 1 year of sample is too small. So as of today, if this is Bryce Harper, the Sox will not regret missing out. If peak Harper was an outlier and not a talent ceiling attainable going forward, then Bryce won't be worth his contract.
  11. In what world is palka better than anyone on a mlb roster?
  12. Signed up. Good luck with everything going forward. Appreciate anyone who works hard in a field of passion. Is there a way to contribute more per month?
  13. Yeah, I was wrong. He had changed it 3 times before and things arent good if you keep doing that. I am not sure why it's funny that sometimes peoples opinions are wrong. Wont be the last time I'm wrong in my life that for sure.
  14. The development of giolito change up and the dramatic change in his delivery probably saved his career. Those are two huge changes as well. Kudos to cooper and the rest of the pitching coaches.
  15. Supposed to stop raining in 2 hours. Would guess they wait this one out.
  16. Tell me the difference between what Bobby Witt Jr has done and what Blake Rutherford had done - with the exception being positional value. Witt isnt quite as old as Blake was but he's close. Ftr, I'm a big fan of Witt I just think the age thing is something that should not be overlooked.
  17. Moncada wasnt actually going to bunt. Showing first pitch bunt just allows you to see the ball a little better and longer as you are squared to the plate and watching it through the glove.
  18. It was a scenario in which getting ONE run was more valuable than getting multiple runs so the bunt was the right choice.
  19. You guys think coaching matters WAY too much. Players at that level don't need lessons, they need data and information to study and adapt their games. Maybe the Sox are poor at providing that, but this idea that the Sox stink because of a pitching coach or manager is greatly misguided.
  20. Absolutely no "right move" involves Daniel Palka being on the big league roster.
  21. I worry about converted position players becoming starters. You have no significant sample telling you whether their arm will hold up or not.
  22. His wRC+ last year was 17th in baseball - right with Khris Davis and Nelson Cruz. He needs to be better than that to warrant his pay.
  23. Yes, it's funny how we had thought for so long that it was the snap of the elbow with off speed stuff that greatly increased stress on the arm.. turns out velocity is more correlated to arm injuries than any off speed stuff. Also, while we feel that arm injuries have greatly increased the last two decades, it's actually likely that it did not. The difference is that arms used to be kept in the minors longer, there wasnt in depth prospect analysis, and most pitchers (by the time they reached the big leagues) had already shown an ability to stay healthy for an extended period of time. The ones who couldnt were simply out of baseball before anyone saw or heard of them.
  24. The problem is high school and college coaches are paid to win - not develop. Many coaches will win at the cost of a kids health. The only way to protect the kids is to put in wear and tear rules for coaches. If no one holds them accountable nothing will change. It's ironic and absurd that MLB and MiLB teams baby arms more than high school and college coaches. I cant even count how many times a starter went over 130 pitches in a game in my college career.
  25. The problem with Harper is he doesn't produce much value outside of his bat and his bat has been incredibly streaky. IF Bryce Harper never returns to the peak for him showed 3 years ago his contract will not be worth the money. A guy middling between an 820-920 ops every year with no other value added is not worth 30 million a year. Harper needs to be one of the 5-10 best hitters in baseball year in and year out. At this point his one peak season feels more like an outlier than his peak value.
