Robert Thread: Sox talking to Reds, Mets
Whatever that means... If youre happy with the Sox payroll and think it signals an investment in winning then i can't help.

Yeah, now that the Sox have the *checks notes* 4th lowest payroll in baseball after the Murakami signing, they must really be all-in!

Robert Thread: Sox talking to Reds, Mets
Luis Robert has been in the rumor mill for 1 1/2 years and all but about 6 months of Chris Getz tenure. Your big picture is the Sox never intended to trade him, and not that the Sox have misread the market for 18 months, which is why they're still holding a bag in the return line years after being dissatisfied with the product. Dec 2024 " Chris Getz told the Chicago Sun-Times’ Daryl Van Schouwen (multiple links) and other reporters that his team has “gotten a lot of interest” in Robert’s services during the Winter Meetings." June 4 2024 "Yes, the White Sox are willing to deal center fielder Luis Robert Jr., who is expected to return from a hip injury this week and is signed through 2027." The last time Robert was "untouchable" was July of 2023 in a hilarious report (looking back on it): "Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports the Sox are prepared to seriously consider offers on all but four players: center fielder Luis Robert Jr., ace Dylan Cease, first baseman Andrew Vaughn and left fielder Eloy Jiménez." Although the above was Hahn. The only time Getz expressed interest in Robert was the off-season after 2023 into 2024. All of the above was actually because Getz wanted to keep Robert motivated by dangling his future by a thread? Or it was Getz trying to make other GM's waste their time calling him?

I, for one, am shocked to hear WestEddy is coming around to the idea that Getz didn't misplay his hand and was actually right and in control all along.

Love is overrated. Malik adds an element the Bears have struggled with because they have a brutal line. Love getting hurt gave packers a better chance vs bears.

Move Hagen Smith to the bullpen to help the White Sox compete in 2026?
Should move him to the pen, switch him to a 4 seam/cutter pitcher (should be hitting 97 with 92/93 on the cutter out of the bullpen) and have him kill righties. He's always been a good bit better against righties than lefties.

White Sox sign Jarred Kelenic, non-roster invite
One thing I don't understand in this thread is people talking like "give Kelenic a chance," as if he hasn't gotten 1500 PA's over the past 4+ years. Why should he be treated differently than any other minor league add? A starters job? Guy should be lucky to be a 4th outfielder at this point. Fuller will fix him is becoming a pretty fun MEME though.

I think this guy is going to struggle here, but even still id have no problem signing him. Our payroll is laughable.- Passan: Astros sign Imai
Heard sox had the best offer, but the oompa loompa jokes here pushed him to the stros.- Passan: Astros sign Imai
Or... hear me out. He's as good as his contract. This place runs as follows. "OH we should sign this guy!" "Oh we NEED this guy." *signs with another team to completely reasonable contract* "Phew, we really dodged a bullet boys. Glad Jerry didnt spend his money on this guy. Gotta save it for the next guy" Rinse and repeat year after year.- Passan: Astros sign Imai
Yeah, gotta make sure we save that money for Jerry's kids.- Passan: Astros sign Imai
Pedro was small too, but those guys are outliers. Yamamoto was also better at a younger age.- Passan: Astros sign Imai
Just realized this guy is likely 5'10.- Passan: Astros sign Imai
Signing Mune was a good signing given this team ans where they are. I said as much. It's also very possible he can't make enough contact in the MLB to be viable. It's unlikely that he carries a bad team to the playoffs either way, and unlikely is me being polite. Not sure what you're rambling about with Capra. Shane Smith was the Brewers 41st guy whether that hurts your feelings or not.- Passan: Astros sign Imai
Yes, when I was watching the Sox last year lose 100 games again I thought to myself, all this team needs is Anthony Kay, Sean Necomb and Murakami to make up the additional 20 wins+ they need.- Passan: Astros sign Imai
Did i miss something? The Sox still have a payroll under Oakland, Colorado and Pittsburgh. If they signed this guy they'd be around KC and Cincy. Guys here are acting like the Sox signed Juan Soto this off season. They have 38 million committed to 2027 as of today.- Passan: Astros sign Imai
Using Steamer to project wins isnt a money making prop. I'll say the Sox O/U will be 70 or less. You guys have a great opportunity to make some money. Sox to win the division was 150-1 a week or so ago when I looked and 500-1 to win the AL. By FAR the longest odds of any AL team.- Passan: Astros sign Imai
The additions they've made? Lol Perfectly reasonable to say the Sox could contend for a playoff spot next year. You guys are honestly hilarious.- Passan: Astros sign Imai
The Sox O/U on wins this year will not be much more than 62. That's my guess. Ill guess their O/U as of today is 66-68 wins which isn't too far from 62. Not a lot of margin for error!!- Passan: Astros sign Imai
What's far fetched is you talking about the 2026 white sox as contenders. Let's just try not to lose 100 games first.- Passan: Astros sign Imai
I need some of whatever youre smoking- White Sox sign Jarred Kelenic, non-roster invite
Idk if great and Kelenic can be in the same sentence when discussing acquiring him, but at least there's nothing to lose. Guy is broken though.- Passan: Astros sign Imai
So the Mets have spent more this off season than the sox, but somehow the Sox are trying and the Mets aren't. Make it make sense. - Passan: Astros sign Imai
