Yeah there isn't any reason to sign EE. Let Collins get those ABs.
-
Well Vaughn still is a thing regardless of how you want to manipulate him. Also Grandal is a thing for 1B/DH. And obviously Abreu.
-
Why would we want a team full of 1B and DHs?
-
The dumb ones keep eating the shit Hahn spews out and call it cuisine.
-
Anybody after Vaughn is pretty tradeable imo. I would also include Vaughn I guess if we were getting a premium back, not that I think the WSox would. Any of the OF prospects we have are 100% expendable. All of our pitchers in the minors are expendable. Maybe you hold on to Thompson/Dalquist because they are unknown and maybe 1 of Dunning or Steiver for insurance but it shouldn't even sting if the FO trades for a TOR caliber SP.

Offseason 2019-2020 MLB Catch All Thread

5 million of the Machado money went to non-tender candidate Nomar Mazara. Apparently we had zero money going forward if Machado had signed, according to Rick Hahn. -
While I agree with you that they will probably trade for SP, and I think they should, it won't have much of an effect on this current team in regard to losing prospects. One of the positives of having such a young almost complete team is that those prospects don't have any MLB path to this team.

He didn't sign and he's not on the team. Maybe if Hahn, Kenny, and the owner didn't harbor a culture of failure during their tenure he would be here. -
You're an idiot.
-
By trading for non-tender candidates instead of just spending money on sure things.
-
Yeah I'd think he would be in the drivers seat to be backup to Grandal in 2021, but you need to give him a season of ABs to see what he can even do. EE would hamper that pretty good.
-
I don't think EE is a good idea nor does he make any sense now. The FO clearly does not want to push for 2020 and those ABs would be better going to Collins or anybody else.

Sox acquire Nomar Mazara for Steele Walker

I don't think they sign any of those 3 just by how the market is and them not really being linked. -
Sox and Sawks to see if the Price is Right

I don't think there is any way this gets done with us which is fine. I just have zero idea what their plan is and nothing is really being said, which I guess is also fine. -

I don't really want to be penalized as a fan base by "spending" the "Machado money" on David Price's shitty contract unless we are getting Benintendi. If we aren't getting a good controllable player out of it, the deal is stupid and doesn't make much sense. -

Wrong thread. -

It's not even that it seems. That is exactly what he's doing. He included Abreu as well who was always going to come back. Then walked it back and said Machado's deal was a 10 year deal so maybe it will be spread out over that time. He is acting and saying that we would have almost 0 dollars to spend if we signed Machado. -
https://www.drivelinebaseball.com/2018/05/the-limitations-and-usefulness-of-biomechanics-and-motion-capture-for-athletes/ This is the article I was thinking about. I'm fine with being wrong and curious why Fulmer is going to Driveline if we are incorporating this. But we have multiple people here saying the Sox are in fact doing this. I have never heard of any of this going on in PD.
-
I'm going to just assume the posters here are correct. Without that confirmation, I would find that incredibly hard to believe they are incorporating biomechanics in development of their players when they still don't even use something as common as advanced analytics reliably. The Manager last year said as much.
-
I can guarentee the Sox are doing nothing with biomechanics.
-
Last offseason was really bad. This year is arguably much worse and fans are sick of the shitty excuses and back tracking.

Those comments perfectly sum up how I feel and exactly what I told the ticket lady today. What a fucking joke.

My favorite ticket office lady called me again just now since I WAS mulling over plans based on the moves made. I obviously voiced my displeasure in a very nice way and said they needed to spend money for me to consider again. She said she'll be calling me back after they make a "big move". I'm not Heroposting or anything like that, but I KNOW that feedback goes to someone higher up than her.

Again, they only "improved" because they were HISTORICALLY BAD in RF. They went from a negative number to a barely positive number. That's not a real improvement.
