  1. Well if you talk to Bruce Levine and we add Keuchel, Hamels, and Calhoun we are cooking at around 110 million.
  2. Mazara has a career .799 OPS against RHP and the Sox have zero balance, especially if they end up with Nick in right. I get the argument, but I have no interest in Adam Engle being our 4th OF. He can not hit ML pitching.
  3. I don't think they can absorb another PR nightmare like last year. And not signing any legitimate stars this year would be WORSE than whiffing on Machado.
  4. Jose isn't even really a great candidate to go to DH. That's one of the few if only areas we can actually add a LH bat.
  5. How does a reporter even write that? Rendon? Lol, what would he play 2B?
  6. But that's why I don't really get it despite Cole being from there. They aren't really in a great position to add all that money on 1 pitcher. Pujols comes off next year I think which would offset the arb I guess. They would probably be adding around 70 million with Cole, a middling SP, a couple pen arms. I don't think that gets them anywhere close.
  7. Nobody you just mentioned is on the same planet as Betts or Cole though, and the Sox did not have that type of payroll flexibility + a really good young core during those years. Again I don't think it's likely but if they aren't even going to entertain the best SP in baseball then not sure. I guess it will depend on how much Jerry decides to open his pocket book.
  8. I know everybody is on the Cole to LA thing, but they are at like 140 million after arb and they need at least 2 pitchers among other holes to fill. They would be near the 190 million mark just factoring in Cole and a middling SP only. They aren't a Cole away from competing.
  9. I think that's pretty realistic on the numbers, yeah. I mean they just offered 250 to Machado who isn't as good of a player and had massive red flags. Do I think this is going to happen? No. I see Cole more likely than Betts because he's likely to be in the 250-280 range which is comparable to Machado, despite the pitcher trigger warning.
  10. You only trade for Betts if the Sawx FO allows you to negotiate with him before the trade, imo. If that happens just give him whatever he wants. I don't mind the Sox going out and making some trades this off season for need if they are relatively cheap. We can't just burn another year of cheap control to win 75 games.
  11. I wouldn't want any 1B longer than a 1 year deal because Vaughn should be coming up. Not sure what you would do with a guy like that in 2021 assuming he's declining. I don't see the risk reward.
  12. I like the idea of Mazara as a 4th OF if he is cheap enough. Not as our everyday RF.
  13. As I stated before on here Benintendi could be a realistic get as he was floated apparently by the previous GM around the deadline. There has also been talk on non-tendering JBJ which would get them close to under the tax but they still would have holes to fill. It's interesting to think about especially if Benintendi regains his form and the ask from us is cheap. I'm not sure adding Price over somebody like Wheeler is exactly a solution though.
  14. Robert has a floor of 2 WAR next year even if he really struggles at the plate. I personally think he doesn't struggle too bad in the early months. Definitely exciting.
  15. I see posters arguing for Moose and Grandal, which to me you can't do/wasting money which was just my point. If they end up with Nick for RF I still want them to get a 4th OF LH depth piece with pop even if we end up with Grandal as well.
  16. I really don't get how Moose gets AB's, especially if they want Grandal as well. He wouldn't really be a legitimate DH and you have Abreu, Collins, hypothetically Grandal as well bouncing around between DH/1B. I wouldn't hate the signing I just don't see it depending on how things shake out.
  17. There's no way he ends up at 50 over 4. He probably gets somewhere near 16 a year.
  18. Im pretty sure there was an article or 2 around the trade deadline he was being shopped by DD.
  19. He was hitting 400+ foot doubles. He publically complained about it.
  20. He's probably going to want to start. I like the idea of Mazarra if we can get him very cheap as a 4th OF. I don't know how realistic that is though.
  21. Comerica is fucking terrible, especially for an alley to alley hitter like Castellanos.
  22. Order aside that would be a very solid lineup. I'd still want them to add in a LH OF depth piece with some pop on top of that.
  23. His slugging and ISO have been creeping up every year for the last 4 years while maintaining a 6% BB and 21% k rate. I don't know how many 430 foot doubles he had in Comerica but I know he has publically shit on the stadium for sapping his power numbers. I think he thrives with us.
