  1. Bleacher Report says Gio has been working with Katz on a new pitch called "the downer". I've enjoyed that Katz seems to have been heavily involved in the offseason training of our young staff.
  2. Whatever happens...with all the young players some vets around them are helpful. Catchers make good managers because they are field managers during their playing days.
  3. The contract extensions RH has overseen...are a direct result of his contract knowledge I believe.
  4. I don't believe anyone here knows what has been discussed. RH plays his cards close to the vest. I don't believe that our FO discusses this stuff with their best friends....there is just too much money at stake.
  5. Now here is a post with some merit. Positivity just might be contagious here on Soxtalk.
  6. JR values highly the Harvard trained contract/agent background that RH brings to the table. He had KW in the GM role with RH as assistant GM. A baseball man is needed but today's game has lots of legal pitfalls that need to be covered that the typical baseball guy doesn't have the background for. This might be a signal that KW is nearing the end of the line.
  7. Following through with the golf analogy...some days you have your timing/rhythm and other days...not so much. Muscle memory is the key to consistency.
  8. I believe Yermin & Collins is the WS plan until Vaughn is called up. Allows for us to showcase Yermin for DH in the National League. I would prefer Flowers as a backup catcher allowing Collins to catch every day.
  9. Colome did his job while here...so I wish him well and good luck when not playing the Sox. Hendriks is a real upgrade...so I am glad to say welcome aboard. I certainly look forward to a more relaxed finish on the majority of games.
  10. Hey...2 weeks til pitchers & catchers report. Time for everyone to be pumped up.
  11. I have always thought Getz was a smart hard-working player and done very well in his player development role. Wise of RH to have baseball types around him. Brings a different skill set to the table.
  12. Good luck Nick. One of the nicest guys on the baseball field. Easy to root for this guy!
  13. Next year our entire infield makes this list.
  14. You are correct. We had that last year with EE and it completely destroys the offense.?
  15. Like most young players...if he signs an extension he will be up with the big club on OD. Without the extension...he will need a month or two of adjustment time.
  16. This is a first-class effort at the analysis of where our team is at. I agree with almost everything and refuse to minimize your fine effort by quibbling.
  17. Living wage arguments fall on deaf ears when you talk about millionaire ballplayers vs billionaire owners. If this was an argument that ballclubs should hold down the cost of a hotdog, ticket, parking, beer, and soda I would be all in. I really fear that we are approaching when fans are in decline because they can't afford to attend it. For those of you who haven't gone to a minor league game...you're missing a treat. A great seat costs $10 and the food price is like fast food pricing anywhere. Parking can be free up to a few bucks. No wonder they have nice crowds where I have gone. The fan pays the freight on this great sport...owners and players should do more to be careful not to throw the baby out with the bathwater.
