  1. When your lack of a closer is what stands between your team and a playoff run...the value goes up.
  2. Only takes one team to think Colome is the answer to their closer problem. Two arguing over him would be even better. Don't at all mind keeping him for our own run next year. This ends well no matter what Rick does.
  3. Jerry is 83 years old. He wants the rebuild to happen as fast as possible I would think.
  4. It is interesting that if you go to White Sox official web site they tell me who leads the club in batting average, home runs, stolen base & rbi's. I can't find anything that tells me who is leading in any of the advanced stat races. My point is that the average baseball fan relates to stats we've grown up with. I see advanced stats as additional evaluation tools but they don't make obsolete the traditional yard sticks that make up the triple crown or win & losses and earn run averages. Is there really such a thing as a WAR monster player with poor traditional stats? For me...WAR has helped guys like Sanchez & Garcia show their value a little better than just traditional stats.
  5. I would like to see Robert and Madrigal join Cease asap. Use the remainder of 2019 to acclimate these three key pieces to the major league game. Giolito, Jiminez, Mancada along with Anderson all needed time to adjust to the faster game after being promoted. I don't want to waste the first half of 2020 for this process. Use free agency and trades to acquire two decent starting pitchers and a right fielder. We can compete for the division in 2020 as Kopech, Dunning and Rodon get their footing following their respective surgeries. These players have all shown advanced skills and don't need to be treated with such kid gloves. Daryl Boston has been working with Eloy on his outfield play and it shows. Boston can work with Robert while McEwing works with Madrigal. Both players would be immediate upgrades to our current team and it speeds the acclimation time to the big leagues. Robin Yount skipped the minor league stint and joined the big league club at 18 years old. Worked out pretty well I would say.
  6. Listen...yes. Never hurts to listen. Only a gross overpay should be listened to for very long however IMO.

  8. Jared Mitchell in 2009 drafted by White Sox over Mike Trout wasn't a high-lite either.
  9. We had not seen Detwiler or heard of the Cease promotion.
  10. Looks a lot better than it did one week ago.
  11. I had no idea you are this smart.?
  12. When I first heard 3 had made the team I assumed it was Colome.
  13. I guess home runs and rbi's do count after all. You have been vindicated by the baseball Gods.
  14. Yeah...I thought about him as well but McCann has been a real steal as was Q. This Rick Hahn guy is really good.
  15. Have we ever gotten so much for so little.
  16. Hawk was a master of nicknames.
  17. I think that is a real possibility.
  18. Colome going nowhere short of an overpay.
  19. Predicted 8-7 but was pretty close.
  20. Not to worry...Coop will fix him.
  21. IMO they should bring Robert, Madrigal and Cease up asap. No matter how you do it...almost every prospect comes up and struggles a bit. Moncada, Anderson, Eloy and Gio all came up and looked bad. They need to get comfortable with the speed of the major league game. The sooner we let them take their lumps the sooner they are productive. As far as development goes...Eloy now looks far better defensively as Boston is working with him every day. The major league coaches in theory are the best in the organization. Why not have the golden boy prospects work with the best coaches.
  22. Tommy John pitched for the White Sox. We invented what has now become routine surgery for pitchers. Currently our best pitcher has had TJ surgery and is good as new. On a personal note...I had rotator cuff surgery for 2 1/2 tears and my shoulder is good as new. These types of surgery are torture but you do come through very well.
  23. That was unkind. We all have fantasies.
  24. I agree. In a game where hitters fail over 70% of the time it's hard to make fans happy. Look at what McCann has done for half a season...he still has plenty of doubters. In last nights game I was saying to myself that Eloy looked lost...one swing and I'm back on the Eloy train.
  25. I'll tell myself that Nova is a quality pitcher and I like his stuff. I love the pace he pitches at and he really throws with confidence and challenges hitters. Can't wait to see this new version of Nova.
