  1. Montgomery qualifies as a left-handed bat. Set up man and closer is job #1 IMO.
  2. Agreed. Pitching will be the key.
  3. The loss bummed me out. Then I told myself it helps with the draft pick. A few minutes later, I was thinking it's good that tough losses don't hurt when the team is bad. Then I started to realize these losses will start being painful next year. It's not easy being a baseball fan.
  4. Yes! I see energy everywhere I look.
  5. I am aiming higher for the division crown, but I agree with the premise.
  6. I agree. The new era of WS baseball starts tonight.
  7. In my humble opinion, this team will be much better next year than you and many others think. For sure, they will be more watchable. My crystal ball says Robert will play an important role in my prediction.
  8. Why do you want to move him? We don't have anyone close to his abilities for CF. If he continues to perform well, attempt to extend his contract. Should he revert to hitting below 200 and be injury-prone...buy him out for $2M. If he plays great and won't go for an extension... pick up the $20M option and play him or trade him. I'm glad we didn't take a crapola offer for probably our best player.
  9. Has to go to the Ryan Fuller hitting school before raking at the Rate.
  10. I just gotta believe that Ishbia isn't hands off for the next 3 or 4 years.
  11. With some moderately priced additions, this team will contend within the division IMO. We are playing good baseball currently, and I expect continued growth.
  12. All possibilities are alive and well. Pick up his option for 20 million or release him for 2 million. Sign an extension of his contract just like we would do with any FA this offseason. He is playing like he wants to play with these new kids all around him. I'm tired of worrying about Jerry getting his money's worth...not my problem. With a few key acquisitions this off-season, this team could be strong and competitive.
  13. An organization's #3 prospect is about right IMO.
  14. He was a good role player. Nice move by Getz.
  15. "A watched pot never boils."
  16. Schriffen is nowhere near as grating as Benetti for my taste. I have a Detroit fan friend who can't believe the nonsense he brought with him. I'll take Schriffen's shtick any day.
  17. That would be my best "guess" as well. However, I doubt we will get anything exciting. Hope I'm wrong. Before I take a minimal return, I would try to strike a deal, as I have said.
  18. Yeah...it will be better to get next to nothing for him and then b**** about how dumb Getz is when he rebounds.
  19. Diminishing skills do not mean no skills, and I suggest 2-4 years at 10-14-M, not the 20 M option cost. Lastly, you can drop the attitude as well.
  20. What is in front of my face is that Robert has probably underperformed his agent's expectations as well as mine. I don't pretend to know what they would settle for. I would like to retain Robert for the lowest price possible (I suggest 10-14 M per year for 2-4 years because he is worth that to me. That is in-line with his defensive and speed attributes. Several years ago, the Cubs had Jason Heyward with the same problem, and his 20 M salary became an albatross for both him and the Cubs. Now, if Getz can't have a meeting of the minds with Robert...trade him.
  21. Extending a player with diminished skills is not fantasy. You can drop the attitude.
  22. The question was My preference, not Robert.
  23. Extend him 2 to 4 years somewhere in the 10-14M range or trade him. No way am I picking up the option.
