  1. I don't envision Everett or Daubach back.
  2. YOUR POSTS ARE NOT TOO DULL!!!!! AND WHAT'S WITH THE GO SOX, HUH, YOU A CLOSET RED SOX FAN OR SOMETHING? I just thought I'd give you a fight.
  3. You win a division, you get to celebrate. Oh, and f*** the Cubs and every one of their f***ing fans.
  4. Nope, the media guide says he is signed through 2003. If there were options to extend, it would say so.
  5. Umm unless the Trib is lying... It's the media and getting information from Williams, who is tap dancing in between the 'I's and 'We's, so it's probably all lies. So you guys are letting KW lie to the media, even though he doesn't have anything to do with the negotiations? (because he isn't in charge anymore) And you are letting him get away with it, and no one is saying anything to refute these lies, including both the team and Colon or his agent???? I guess I missed something here. How do we know that KW isn't in charge anymore? Regarding all rumors of negotiations, and players really wanting to stay here....money talks, bulls*** walks. I'll believe it when the deal is done. This is truly a situation when both sides are lying to us.
  6. I voted for Thiggy, whose record could have been broken with 2 saves yesterday and one today for Gagne, but happily that didn't happen. I would also like to remind the group of two other successful Sox closers - Hoyt Wilhelm and Ed Farmer.
  7. And I love the way Florida said " :fyou " to this bulls*** rule and hired a manager of their choosing without the BS dog-and-pony show of interviewing a minority. The hiring of McKeon turned their season around and now Florida is going to the playoffs. Ballsy move. and congratulations Florida Actually, senior citizens are a minority!
  8. A-Rod. Also, the shocking part about Delgado's 4 homer game is that Jim Parque wasn't involved.
  9. The only way the La Russa to the Sox thing works is if the Cardinals give us permission to talk to him. Maybe they will, if they're ready to move on to someone else, or if they have a sense of gratitude to Tony for what he's done for them. Maybe they'll want to work out a compensation thing like Tampa did with Piniella and Seattle last year. Another point. When La Russa acted as emcee for the 1983 Sox reunion dinner, Harrelson the next couple of days raved about what a job La Russa did at the dinner. Maybe Hawk's nose can tell which way the wind is blowing.
  10. You can find a firstbaseman in free agency. David Ortiz last year, Randall effn Simon this year was picked up cheap, Fick was a free agent last year...people are talking about Spezio...there'll be guys out there.
  11. Reinsdorf has the authority to make all the decisions - that's the way the limited partnership is drawn up. Do you think a lot of the other owners would not want La Russa?
  12. Hmm...Very Interesting However I'm just not sure that JR would want a second go-around with Tony LaRussa although he would be a better option than Buddy Bell or alot of the other misfits around the league... The only reason that Tony left the first time was because of the worst GM in Sox history, Hawk Harrelson... Tony and Reinsdorf are very close friends.
  13. The LaRussa stuff started heating up in the Tribune today. Buehrle said that he heard on St. Louis sport talk radio that there was speculation that Tony L may not return to St Louis. The tribune quoted Tony: "I'm in a financial situation where I don't want to be somewhere if ownership believes there's someone better for the job. After you've been somewhere for a while, maybe they think it gets stale. If that situation ever arises, I want them to be able to tell me. It's not about money or holding someone to a contract. I firmly believe that." The article goes on to say "...a source within the (Sox) organization said he expected Reinsdorf to commit the necessary funds to hire a proven manager."
  14. I know it's hugely unlikely, but still possible, that Cubs and Astros lose out, and the Cardinals win out -- like Hawk says -- POOF, 3 way tie.
  15. i hope they installed an ice cutter on that boat.. gonna be hard to pull up to burnham harbor in late january early feburary without one...... and off into the sunset they sail...........never to return again........ If Manuel and Jauron are on board...quick, get "The little boat!" Man the torpedoes! Hopefully Reinsdorf and even Jerry Angelo (even though I'm a Cowboys supporter) can walk off da plank with em. that would only be good in shark infested waters.... better hope that jm and dj can row that boat down to the gulf....... We could supply the sharks.....
  16. You make a good point. If these two are instrumental in keeping the Cubs out of the playoffs, I will forgive Todd Richie.
  17. YASNY, I just think that when you replace a manager you need to go for the different personality type. If you don't win with laid back, you hire firey. If you don't win with firey, you hire laid back. Although in our case, you could argue you don't win with incompetent, you hire competent. Whoever it is, obviously I hope he's manager of the year. Thanks for the Herald stuff, I don't often see the Herald. According to today's Tribune: "While several voices in the organization view Indians bench coach Buddy Bell as the strongest potential candidate, a more prominent name garnered attention Thursday. Mark Buehrle said that as he and Brian Daubach drove to KC from their off-season homes near St. Louis, the talk radio airwaves were flooded with speculation that manager Tony LaRussa might not return to the Cardinals.... "Cardinal majority owner Bill DeWitt Jr. told the STL Post Dispatch earlier this week that there was little doubt that La Russa would return in 2004 for the final year of his 3 year contract. La Russa apparently still planned to discuss the matter with GM Walt Jocketty. La Russa said 'I'm in a financial situation where I don't want to be somewhere if ownership believes there's someone better for the job. After you've been somewhere for a while, maybe they think it gets stale. If that situation ever arises, I want them to be able to tell me. It's not about money or holding someone to a contract. I firmly believe that." The tribune goes on to say a source in the Sox organization said he expected Reinsdorf to commit the necessary funds to hire a proven manager.
  18. Kip...for all of those 4 2/3, 5 hit, 4 walk outings I sat through...you owe us. All will be forgiven if you step up.
  19. i hope they installed an ice cutter on that boat.. gonna be hard to pull up to burnham harbor in late january early feburary without one...... and off into the sunset they sail...........never to return again........ If Manuel and Jauron are on board...quick, get "The little boat!" Man the torpedoes!
  20. Not to mention coverage of the first Bears loss at the "new" Soldier Field.
  21. There is a better chance that you will be managing the Sox than there is that Jerry will.
  22. Well, if it's troubling thoughts you want, here's one. If they are going to go with veterans again, tweaking here and there, and they decide to get a "veteran" kind of manager, there's a guy who Kenny Williams played for, who won two world series, and fits what seems to be Reinsdorf's criteria concerning race. I'm no fan, but it could be Cito Gaston.
  23. They're reporting that the announcement of Manuel's firing will be made on Tuesday.
