  1. But if you're not near the water, it doesn't seem like Florida. A lot of it looks like nice areas near Western Avenue in Chicago. Guy I know has been down there 10 years, never had a problem, just got wiped out by Helene's surge. (living near the water) O well, by January I'll be cursing the weather and he'll be rebuilt and basking in the warmth.
  2. Enough threads about it and you know what you have? Real news,
  3. Named the Berto Center in Deerfield after his assistant.
  4. As I've posted here, there and everywhere for years, it reinforced JR's belief that he's smarter than everyone else. I don't think he's as evil as a bunch of you, but he shouldn't be running a MLB team with that attitude and that skill set.
  5. Peavy's stuff has the ring of truth to it. It does all come back to Jerry, but don't give the people under him a free pass for not keeping up with the changing nature of their jobs.
  6. Yep, Lopez panicked. Whether it had anything to do with Billy's 14-15 record that year I do not know and don't want to. Dammit anyway.
  7. Since anything he says will be the subject of deserved ridicule and he knows it, I'm surprised that he's going to say anything.
  8. I don't actually hate the University itself. I know some South Bend folks and the place means a lot to them. But the athletics and fans are a different story.
  9. I only just looked at the highlights on YouTube but all those Domer faces as the game ended, wow. Does a heart good.
  10. I was talking about NU=Northwestern. Games in Evanston on the campus.
  11. If anyone watched NU/Duke, can you believe the play call that cost NU the game in OT? 3rd and 1 from the 3 and Coach calls a QB sweep! Naturally it lost 10 yards and cost them the game. Pulled defeat out of the jaws of a likely victory.
  12. Fire Sodfather too. His bad forecast caused Crochet to waste a start.
  13. The ghosts of Fred Manrique and Ralph Garr were out there tonight. The fun old/new days.
  14. Only public humiliation will do. A flogging or stoning would work for me.
  15. A local team that I follow won a game! Talkin' 'bout NU. Five in a row dating back to 2023. Congrats to Coach Braun and his guys. Playing right on the lakefront in a temporary field while Ryan Field is rebuilt. They are the only local team I want to see playing on the lakefront. Bears can take their ugly spaceship to Arlington Heights.
  16. I was referring to my own post about not absolving him. I'm cool with yours. Are we OK?
  17. Who knows how much Einhorn did behind the scenes that Reinsdorf, as the front man, took the heat for? This comment is not meant to absolve JR of anything.
  18. So it would be news to a national audience. OK, understandable. Around here, SOS. He lives here per Wikipedia.
  19. Hardly great journalism, but all true of course. A rehash of what every poster here already knew, plus a bit of old fashioned knife twisting. Who’s the author, one of the CBS locals?
  20. Ruins the chances of getting anything for Crochet. Better to keep him, now that he's back to mediocre.
  21. Cynicism is a good thing and I’m a frequent user myself but if you donate $100 to a charity and your tax rate is 25% you save $25 in taxes and you’re still out the $75 difference.
  22. You lose playing time for young “talent” and you peeve off your season ticket base.
  23. The only proper way to approach this is ridicule and you have risen to the task. Thx guys.
