  1. Singles hitting LF, big Sox prospect, wound up with the Cubs after staying on Square One here. Wasn't much better there. Like Andrew, thus the comparison.
  2. I'm pretty sure there have been cash calls over the years, but I don't know about a payout. Nor do I know if there's a market for the shares. You'd be the one to know an insider. When the Big Moment comes, they'll all have done very well, for certain. But that doesn't buy a hot dog and a root beer at Portillo's for lunch tomorrow..
  3. Andrew isn't a complete pile of anything. He's at least as good as Ryan Sweeney, who made $8M in his entire career. Seriously, have the shareholders ever got a payout? I don't know that they have. ?
  4. Overestimated his own talent, did Hahn. It's not adjusted for inflation, of course, but Ryan Sweeney, with virtually the same stats, made $8M in his whole career. We're giving Andrew $17MX5. If JR is as smart and thrifty as we think, how can he not be furious?
  5. Gives us a clue as to why he left Scholtens in too long yesterday.
  6. Great bullpens make great managers. The opposite is also true.
  7. Gave this a lotta thought. Betts was wrong. What were the Sox supposed to do, go after the winner of a fair fight? They did the right thing by getting Timmy the hell out of harms way, thx, AV.
  8. Just saying, if I was Robin, I'd have taken his legs out and got him on the ground first. Still, good beef matters. ?
  9. That's right to the point. A mediocre coach looks good in comparison to everyone else. Good thread too, with a lot of facts to support the posts. "In the land of the blind, the one-eyed man is king."
  10. Aggressive is a nice description for stealing third with two outs. It used to be called a dumbass play. Still is as far as I'm concerned. Only purpose it served tonight was to pad stats. And injure Luis, of course.
  11. Stage 4 is less dire with blood or lymphatic cancers than with other kinds. Still not a good thing, obviously.
  12. Good catch. His stuff resembled Graveman’s, maybe a tick slower but with better control. Not gonna win you a pennant but okay for the here and now.
  13. On Opening Day our team was supposed to win the division. So Hahn was OK then and we were all OK with him. When was Jerry supposed to whack him? At the time of the 10 game losing streak? According to the bloodthirsty element around here that would have been fine. How many teams whack a GM midseason? If he isn't gone after game 162, then you guys have a case. My advice to those with an itchy trigger finger: Don't take a management job anywhere near where I work.
  14. I can see their thought process. Long-term condition that seemed stable over time, big contract, what could go wrong? Worth the risk? In hindsight, never should have signed him.
  15. I wouldn't blame the Sox for messing up something which has been an issue for a long time. Liam was getting by walking a tightrope. If he pitches again, and I'm not sure that he will, it won't be for the Sox. Let's revisit in a year or so, more likely start of the 2025 season. Without a stem cell transplant, which he didn't have, the lymphoma is still lurking as well. Even with one, for that matter.
  16. If nothing else, we are good for what ails you towards an opponent.
  17. Stomach is churning from seeing those OBP's. Has the game changed that much?
  18. Wild guess here that JR didn't want to pay the top two of the pitchers dealt whose contracts were up so he used 3 1/2 games out as an excuse, thinking no one would notice. For a smart guy, he's a world class moron.
  19. Hit a grand slam that was overturned as foul just last week.
  20. There are reasons that neither of them has managed or coached, that I know of.
  21. With the movement on his sinker and his velocity he should have been better than he was. Blame coaching. I do.
  22. Closer? Didn't have one before, don't need one now. Kidding aside, you're right on about sorting out the chaff in these last two lost months.
