  1. I think it’s more of it being relatively significant baseball news independent of anything white Sox related.
  2. I see him going to the Pirates instead.
  3. Hopefully Venable is a little better than Jack at establishing chemistry and vibes.
  4. I get that. There are definitely some things that, in theory, should make the season interesting, but I just can't get myself to care all that much. Maybe that changes a month or two into the season if some dudes start to stand out a little more.
  5. Looking forward to another dull Sox offseason finally ending, but not even remotely excited about the start of this next season. Baseball fan hell is alive and well.
  6. “Roki Sasaki has informed the White Sox that he has never heard of them.”
  7. Ah yes, the two very similar environments: 1) The one with the offensive coordinator who is being requested for head coach interviews 2) The one that had three different offensive coordinators throughout the season
  8. The only thing clear as day is that the Bears would not have put any QB they drafted in a position to succeed. They'd still be sitting at home if they had Stroud or Daniels and you'd be saying they should have drafted Caleb instead.
  9. Well this thread went about as well as expected
  10. I was expecting the asterisk at the bottom for Buehrle to say "*Just kidding, Raul Casanova"
  11. Just wait until next offseason when Getz signs Vlad to a 1 year, $100 million deal. Won't be so funny then, will it?* *Yes, yes it absolutely would.
  12. They can, but then they get dinged again because their division is gonna be a bloodbath. Their causal approach to the offseason (thus far) would be less of an issue if they were in one of the central divisions.
  13. It's interesting to think about the alternate timeline. If Tatis was never traded, maybe Hahn signs him to one of those Eloy/Moncada/Robert deals and we're not even in a rebuild right now. But yeah, your general point stands that the Sox are cheap bastards.
  14. Fully agree. It’s just that passive approach of ‘we already have a potential ace so we don’t need to seek one out’ that bugs me.
  15. To be clear, my quote is just snarky paraphrasing of what Elias actually said about Grayson, but the essence is there.
  16. I think it’s all relative to expectations, draft position, etc. If Vaughn was a fourth round pick, he clearly wouldn’t be a bust. But he was a consensus top 5 pick and seen as a polished hitter who would be a difference maker offensively. When the results are league average production after that, that’s bust territory IMO.
  17. The Elias quote about Grayson is giving off real Rick Hahn circa 20-21 vibes. ”If everyone stays completely healthy and reaches their 99th percentile outcome, it won’t matter that we didn’t make any bigger signings.”
  18. Interesting stuff, but absolutely nothing there that indicates the groups “hated each other.”
  19. The amount of high profile busts from the last rebuild is truly incredible.
  20. I imagine this will be a tough Sporcle answer down the road for Sox Opening Day Starters.
  21. If the Sox were "normal bad," this might make more sense. But since they went out and made themselves historically bad, it becomes a completely different scenario. They've dug such a deep hole for themselves that signing these players, while it would make the team marginally better in the very short term, would not get the team any closer to contention.
  22. Vance Joseph was actually a failed HC with the Broncos in 2017-2018, so even better.
