  1. Good thing we got Clev before they could.
  2. Maybe not competitive yet, but they should at least be getting interesting by then a la the 2019 sox. At any rate, by 2027 they should have some young players on the MLB roster that they envision as part of the future core. Them missing those major league reps would definitely be a hindrance.
  3. What an annoyingly misleading headline.
  4. Lololol. Anyway, this signing still sucks.
  5. There’s definitely nothing to gain, but also there IS something to lose. Just look at the responses here and on social media (from both Sox fans and at a national level). As an organization, if you want to throw caution to the wind as far as optics are concerned, at least do it for a player that isn’t terrible.
  6. In fairness, though, it's Getz's job to correctly evaluate players, not WhiteSox2023's job. One of the perks of being a fan is that we have the privilege of getting to loudly yell dumb opinions and be wrong about them.
  7. No, I'm saying those aren't the only fans they need to win back. I think you're underestimating the number of more involved fans they are in the process of alienating.
  8. At this rate there might not be much baseball in 2027. It's gonna be a long time before fans show up again. In the meantime, they need every small win they can get, and they need to stop tripping over themselves by doing stupid stuff like this.
  9. I don't agree with that at all and I hope for the Sox sake they don't either.
  10. Ah yes, nothing to lose for an organization facing the simple task of earning back the trust of its fan base.
  11. Lol at pretending there’s no additional context here.
  12. No angle exists where this isn’t an absolutely horrendous signing. Not the player angle, not the person angle, not the minority shareholder angle. This organization deserves all of the failure, negativity and mockery that comes its way, but the fans deserve so much better. This sucks.
  13. While ESPN sucks at most of what they do these days, it's sort of a bummer cuz I fully expect MLB to now pivot to some streaming service for these games, thus making them harder to see. No one hates baseball as much as MLB does.
  14. While there are a few that seem to doubt that changes are even taking place, I think the majority are just skeptical as to whether the changes will yield anything positive which, yeah, that's what we're all waiting to see.
  15. To flip them at the deadline for reliever prospects that will later be flipped for our boy Cash Considerations. Sorry, I don’t make the rules.
  16. They’re a lot more interesting than the Sox at the moment.
  17. There’s also the other problem of why the hell did Joey Gallo get 500 ABs on a rebuilding team?
  18. I imagine they'll have him spell Busch at 1B too. I'd say if they don't end up needing more than ~400 plate appearances from him, it's probably fine. Not exactly an inspiring move, but I don't think Bregman was a great fit for them either.
  19. Sure, maybe. Or maybe he just wouldn’t accept a NRI with the Sox. Of all the Getz related things to have an issue with, the Flexen signing is an odd one.
  20. I agree it’s a little strange that he’s taking less money this offseason. Who knows, maybe he just really wanted to sign with a competitive team and they’re less desperate for his services than the bad teams. Here’s the way I look at it. Flexen ended up being surprisingly durable and important to the Sox last year. Sure he wasn’t necessarily good, but he was a stable guy in the rotation which gave them more flexibility with the other rotation spots. If it was an overpay, fine. Who cares? Ultimately they wanted him, they got him, and he served a purpose.
  21. Makes sense that the bad team has to make a better offer.
  22. Three things are true: 1) They are introducing new ideas to an organization that has notoriously been stubborn and behind the times. This is objectively a good thing. 2) Unless it yields tangible positive results, it’s just another organizational failure. 3) Time needs to pass before any of us know how this all shakes out. That’s all there is to it. Why is this even an argument?
