  1. Have we ever (in recent memory) had a play like that go in our favor? Where a guy is out by 10 feet, but the ball rolls away on a routine tag/slide...
  2. I got excited when I read the headline. I thought FOX had finally axed this guy...
  3. QUOTE(whitesoxin' @ Aug 14, 2007 -> 12:41 PM) Madden 08 has been great so far, but I am still getting used to all the different Wii controls. The graphics are also the best of any Wii game I've played so far, destroying The Bigs and Mario Party 8. I'm still figuring it out too since I didn't have Madden '07.... When I've got it figured out (next week probably) we'll have to play online...
  4. QUOTE(Steff @ Aug 13, 2007 -> 10:00 AM) LMAO. Did ya watch the marathon over the weekend? My neighbor came out of the closet because of it..
  5. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 12, 2007 -> 01:43 PM) Quick question: what happened to the skipped start that Danks was supposed to get this time though the rotation? 13 inning game featuring Uribe walkoff and too many pitches from Contreras to be back in the rotation, though he did essentially make a start yesterday.
  6. I don't know who this guy is...
  7. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Aug 11, 2007 -> 10:42 PM) Sisco is gonna be more expendable, especially because he's out of options and that in itself hampers what he could do with the Sox. I think they are going to at least look at what type of position prospects they could get for a guy like Sisco (whether an outfielder or a middle infielder). However, I see no problem with Andy eventually sliding back to the pen but I have my doubts on him ever sticking as a starter (however I think moving him to the rotation in AAA was brilliant as it allowed him to improve his secondary stuff and improve his delivery). I'm pretty sure Sisco's not out of options. He wasn't on the Cubs 40-man in '05, which is why he was a rule 5 pick, which meant that he had to stay in the majors all year unless injured, which means he didn't burn an option that year, which means he's only burned options in the last two seasons, and thus has one remaining.
  8. I'm sure Konerko is well rested for tomorrow
  9. QUOTE(RibbieRubarb @ Aug 9, 2007 -> 09:01 PM) What I think is funny is that after EVERY loss the Ozzie Bashers are out in full-force to tell us how he blew the game. It's all his responsibility. But when the Sox win they say Ozzie had nothing to do with it. Ozzie did nothing wrong today, and pulling Buehrle before getting through 5 is out of character for him, but it was the right call on a night when he really didn't have it/lost it very quickly. I think it's funny that anyone that criticizes Ozzie is considered some commie fascist automaton.
  10. Yeah.... Looking at that play he just made in the 5 run 4th inning.... He'd make an excellent SS.
  11. QUOTE(WhiteSoxFan1 @ Aug 9, 2007 -> 10:35 AM) I tried texting her 3 times today telling her to call me and I never heard from her. YOU'VE GOTTA BE f***ING KIDDDING ME!!! Are you trying to say that this woman isn't compelled to call a suitor who is too pussy to actually call her in the first place? SHOCKING! You've got a lot to learn. And it looks like you're gonna learn the hard way.
  12. No but I expect them to play .500 ball or slightly above .500 ball for the rest of the year.
  13. Still wanna defend Ozzie there? Owens proves he can make the battery of Borowski/Martinez look like the girls from A League of Their Own, but Ozzie hasn't even let him attempt to get into second with nobody out.
  14. QUOTE(ChiSox_Sonix @ Aug 8, 2007 -> 11:38 AM) How can Massett be out of options? Didnt he make his debut in Texas just last year? How can this be that difficult to understand?
  15. QUOTE(Steff @ Aug 8, 2007 -> 11:11 AM) Oh... I'm sure there would have been at least a few dozen threads blaming Oz as a result. Some just can't help themselves. but for now, let's dismiss all the blame for a ridiculous call and argue about where the blame would have gone had Guillen made the proper offensive moves.
  16. QUOTE(Steff @ Aug 8, 2007 -> 11:05 AM) And if he'd gotten caught there would have been holy hell to pay. Yes, but not for Ozzie. For the Willie Harris clone without the defense.
  17. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Aug 8, 2007 -> 10:39 AM) Frankly I thought that we executed perfectly with the middle of the order coming up. If he got thrown out trying to steal would you have created the thread for Ozzie sending him? No. But there would be some more evidence against Jerry Owens as a major leaguer. And I'm sure there would have been a thread on that. Let's remember Game 4 of the World Series. Willie harris reaches on a single, but Ozzie is bunting with Pods. Why? Because Willie has been killed by the media and the team for his inability to steal a base. JD comes through with 2 outs. If Owens can't be counted on to steal in a key situation, why isn't he being run out of town like Harris?
  18. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Aug 7, 2007 -> 11:33 PM) I just noticed Bobby Jenks is in inning number 11 of a hidden perfect game. After 2 batters reached with one out on the July 17th game Vs the Red Sox Bobby retired the next 2 hitters. This was the start of a 32 hitter hidden perfect game that has spanned 11 outings. Over this stretch he has retired all 32 batters he has faced, 10 of them via the strikeout and has recorded 7 saves, including 2 in one day. Congrats Bobby on this unheralded but incredibly impressive accomplishment. not quite... According to BB-ref, the first two batters of the July 17th game with the Indians reached (and scored) with nobody out. He's retired 32 straight batters, recording 33 outs in the process thanks to a DP Rouse Sizemore Blake Lugo Crisp Pedroia Polanco Sheffield Ordonez Hessman Rabelo -- DP (runner inheritted from Thornton) Rodriguez Monroe Inge Stairs Clayton Johnson Wells Thomas Hill Phillips Duncan Cabrera Matsui Molina Cano Hessman Monroe Inge Raburn Rabelo Hessman
  19. QUOTE(BearSox @ Aug 8, 2007 -> 12:00 AM) okay, now do OBP and AVG... Scroll to the right
  20. QUOTE(3E8 @ Aug 7, 2007 -> 11:49 PM) Did the Texas Rangers move to the NL from 2004 to present? If not, Michael Young has almost 100 more RBI than Uribe in that time period. Oh, and even though Carlos Guillen missed like half a season in 2005, he still has more RBI than Uribe since the start of 2004. AL Short Stops since 2004 sorted by RBI
  21. QUOTE(BearSox @ Aug 7, 2007 -> 10:31 PM) I didn't know he was on the 40 man in 05 and then got removed. I don't see how that makes me having a poor understanding of the option system as by my account he only had used 2. I'm sorry. You just have a poor understanding of the Great Nick Masset's career arc.
  22. QUOTE(BearSox @ Aug 7, 2007 -> 09:37 PM) I think they got something wrong... Massett has only played in the big leagues twice. For a cup of coffee last year and for half a season this year. So that means 1 option was used last year, and 1 was used this year. I am fairly certain he has 1 option left. I think you have a poor understanding of the option system. Anyone who is on a 40-man roster and doesn't play in the major leagues uses up an option. Masset was on the Rangers 40-man roster in 2005 (he was later removed, when the Sox could have claimed him for nothing) so he used up an option then. He was put back on the 40-man last year (option #2 gone). He was on the Sox 40-man this year, and was sent to the minors (option #3 toast) There are exceptions Wladamir Balewhatever from Seattle hasn't played in the big leagues and has already burned through 3 options. I just read today that he's eligible for the 4th year option, though I'm unsure exactly how that works.
  23. QUOTE(BearSox @ Aug 7, 2007 -> 08:50 PM) Great speed, but no power, no arm, and no defense. Good thing we don't have any of those... A few days ago Charlotte didn't have a single outfielder. Now they have Sanchez and Collaro. So they're a lot like the big league club; the Sox have only 1 major league outfielder, the Knights have only one AAA/AAAA outfielder.
