List you top FA targets for this offseason.. Starting Pitcher 1. Bradke - F the twins 2. Pavano - Probably gonna cost too much 3. Clement - F the Cubs 4. Lowe - GB pitcher, Absolutely get him if you can get rid of Konerko. That woud leave us with a GG caliber infield; Lowe, Garland, and Buehrle would all benefit. 5. Odalis Perez - Not a big fan, but he's an improvement. 6. David Wells - Throws strikes. No free passes 7. Wilson Alvarez -- Bring him in as #6 starter, throw him out of the pen, use him instead of the rotating T-ball stand when #5 fails Lieber - if his option is declined would slide into the middle of that list... Hopefully the Sawks crush him tonight, and we can sneak in for a deal. not likely though. I left off pedro(too expensive), Clemens(won't leave Houston), Millwood(no thanks), Ortiz(no thanks), the other ATL pitchers(no mazzone = no good) Second/Short 1. Placido Polanco - see blog 2. Omar Vizquel - Old, I don't know which Omar we'd get. 3. Mark Bellhorn -- Gets on base a ton, but probably doesn't do the little things KW and Ozzie are looking 4. 4. Todd Walker -- I don't know why, but I've always liked that guy. 5. Eric Young -- Strongly should be considered to Platoon w/ Harris, and fill in the outfield if needed. last three seasons(.294/.383/.436) vs. LHP -- Harris is (.186/.234/.233) over that span in the same situation. I would be happy if KW just went out an got EY. Singing any of 1,2, or 5 will make this a much better team. I left off (Kent, Renteria, Garciaparra, and Cabrera cuz they are going to be too expensive) [/b]Outfield[/b] 1. Beltran -- Quit playing so well damnit 2. Drew -- Lefty bat I like 3. Finley -- he went to Southern, why not? 4. Dye -- will cost about the same as everett, will produce bout the same as everett. I don't know why I put him on the list 5. Moistness Alou -- He'll end up in SF, but we should at least inquire. 6. Ben Grieve -- Ben Greive??? I know you all think I'm crazy, but check out his stats. Lefty bat? Check. High OBP? Check. Cheap? Check. Who the f*** cares if he strikes out... Kenny this should be the guy you have on the team instead of TIMO. Ok I got tired of making my list... Let's see yours -- In summary, Ben Grieve and Eric Young are cheap guys that we should look at.

Cheat loves Bordo's-- I've only been there a few times, but the ratio of hot women there is always very favorable.

Would anyone give a minor league contract to ELO?
Gene Honda Civic replied to AngelasDaddy0427's topic in Pale Hose Talk
As steff suggested earlier in the thread, I'd be very intrigued by having E-lo come out of the pen... He faded down the stretch in '03. He was terrible after May in '04 He is incredible on his career in April. (18-3, 2.98ERA) Sounds to me like a guy who wears down. If we keep him in the pen and give him fewer innings, I have a feeling he would be able to put up some great numbers for us once again. -
He's a back-up plan... He hasn't been healthy for enough time in his career to advance properly... He'll be up at the ASB if he performs well at Charlotte, and there's a need. I can't see the sox counting on him at any point in the near future. He still needs development.

Just wait.... You heard it here first... It's a huge accomplishment to get through the big 10 undefeated. It's not going to happen this year... the last 3 years, there has been nobody in the COUNTRY better at stopping the run than Iowa, who matches up extremely well with them... Johny Stocco doesn't have the balls the come into IC and win that game, which is what he's going to need to do, cuz they're not gonna let Davis do it. He's not that good of a QB. Not half the QB that Tate is. There's a reason the Hawks have won as many games in a row at home as they have; It's a tough place to play. -

Does Jason Marquis remind anyone of
Gene Honda Civic replied to witesoxfan's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I would like to see ANY documentation, outside of that one game, where Jon said anything negative about a teammate, his run support, or was anything other than a consummate teammate The notion that it's something he does often is a false one. I had never heard jon blame anything on his teammates prior to that one episode, and I suspect that was largely due to the chorus of boos that we raining down upon him from the fans. Quite the opposite, I've heard him say that he let his guys down out there, that he had to pick em up, and didn't get the job done... Qwerty, did you miss the game in Montreal? Jon looked pretty f***ing pissed after that loss. If that's criteria for good pitching, how a player mugs for the camera, then lets load up on the Koch's, tavarez's, Lima's, and Manzanillo's of the world... There's a reason those guys change teams every year. -

Here's Somebody Who No one has talked about...
Gene Honda Civic replied to Butter Parque's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Sometimes you just have to be the loudest to be heard Sexson is in the same boat as maggs... Except Ariz wants him back, and will offer Arbitration at the very least. He made 8+ MIL this season, and even though he had an injury, he doesn't have the long term questions surrounding him like Maggs... He will make more $$$ next season. -

You guys are severly underestimating sexsons value.... He will make near 10M next season, More than Konerko and Delgado... Delgado will be in the 8+ range. -

Red Cubs Look Like Shit
Gene Honda Civic replied to The Critic's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
Red, it's hard to defend the fans who throw foul balls back on the field, need a beach ball for entertainment at an ALCS game, and throw balls (repeatedly) back from outside the park. And you wonder why we called them the red cubs. -
We were the best in baseball at driving 'em in... But the worst in the AL in getting them there

2 things, 1)where did you find that? 2) :fyou KW

Arod with a HR over the monster. Some fan throws it back into the park. Damon pick it up and throws it back out of the park. Ball comes back in. /priceless... RedCubs. -

I'm sure we need another 1b/DH we've already got 4....:rolly Sexson will get 3yrs @ $10M, 4 @ $9M something like that. -
If the yanks pick up the option on Lieber's contract, they're on the books for $182M -- they still need a 2B, 1B/DH(if they don't sign beltran) and another SP. They're going to be over $200M next season.

If Krenzel was in there on those final plays, you would have seen a QB who was aware of the situation around him, and knew that the most dangerous play at the time was the sack... I'm conifdent that Krenzel knew enough to get rid of the ball... I can not tell you how well he picked up this offense, but it would be difficult to match the suckitude of Quinn out there today. Ohio State probably ran 15 or more 2 minute drills under his direction and came out on top in 90% of those... I know that's not just because of those around him... Krenzel is a winner. Quinn is not.

A Realistic Lineup for Next Season
Gene Honda Civic replied to Butter Parque's topic in Pale Hose Talk
It's hard to advocate starting a guy with .229 career average in the majors, who's even more injury prone than carl everett over everett himself, or professional hitter Ross Gload. (.301/.357/.456) inthe majors (.304AVG/.495SLG) minors -
