Sox vs. Seamen, Sunday version
South Side Hit Men replied to Heads22's topic in 2023 Season in Review
I can't believe Remillard made two outs today. Joking aside, batting him 2nd is too much pressure, let him bat near the bottom with Jake Burger. -

Going into today, Lance needed to avoid giving up 103 ER over his final 80 IP to keep his career ERA under 4.00. I wish him success, at least in a Sox uniform. -

He cleared waivers and is back in Charlotte. Needs to be added to the 40 man to be called up, but they have an open spot. Luis Robert Junior's 2023 Games Off: April 9; May 26 & 27. Nice start by Lance Lynn! -

Frazier is a 29 year old 0.3 career bWAR player. He has played for much better organizations who couldn’t make it work. Billy can’t hit, but he can run and is the best fielder in the Sox organization. Its not about getting something out of your 26th man as much as it’s about protecting your only valuable position player (Robert), and your pitching staff. The Sox need a quality CF to give Robert 3 games off a month and not give up 4-5 out innings in the process. Luis Robert has had two games off this entire season. It’s bat s%*# crazy, even if he wasn’t injury prone his entire career. -

I wasn’t surprised Lynn has the third worst fWAR (0.2) among MLB qualified starters. I was surprised Lynn has the best FIP (4.13) among White Sox starters. Perhaps he can change his routine to have a better start, as the first inning has been his Kryptonite this season. No White Sox hitter has previously faced Mariners RH starter Bryce Miller, which is usually a sign of trouble. Would like to see this lineup today: LF Benintendi L CF Robert Jr. R DH Sheets L RF Jimenez R C Grandal S 1B Vaughn R 3B Burger R SS Anderson R 2B Remillard R Reserves: Andrus (Infield); Frazier (OF); Zavala (Catcher). Injured: Gonzalez. Let Anderson stay in the bottom vs. RHS until he can consistently play to his career form. Less pressure for Jake and Remillard as well. Hoping Luis can wait until the Texas series for a day off, really hate Frazier in CF especially on the road. Hope Hamilton can hit even a little to serve as 26th man. Luis is going to break down if he doesn’t get more than a game or two off each month. -
And that's a Perfect Remillard White Sox Winner!

Was progressing through the system. AA player when the owners cancelled the minor league system. Played well in Birmingham in 2021 (.912), promoted to AAA (.640 2021, .773 in 2022). Could have helped last year but Tony La Russa is all f*** You to anyone under 30, though not sure why they didn't bring him up in September when Tony was detoxing, or why they rushed Lenyn Sosa beyond complete Hahn incompetence the past two seasons (.367 OPS Age 22 / .366 Age 23). -

Great comeback! Welcome to The MLB Zach Remillard!!!! -
He pitched yesterday as well. I asked if that was a bullpen session, people seemed to think so. Figure they will either go bullpen game or bring someone else up to start from Charlotte.

Today was the first game this decade Tim Anderson has started and not batted leadoff. Yolmer Sanchez batted leadoff on September 29, 2019 vs. Detroit. https://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/CHA/CHA201909290.shtml

Huge inning by Bummer. He has been pitching well of late.

Not to mention that WAR is going to take a hit if he plays 3B regularly, and mentally he will need to focus on becoming a decent fielder, something he hasn't had to do in his ML career to date. He's a solid backup 3B, could be a decent DH, but hasn't had to make major adjustments to his hitting approach until now that the league has a better handle on how to approach him.

This makes sense. Gene Lamont and Tony La Russa were the lone managers Jerry fired mid-season, and he hired Tony back 35 years later.
-
They need to comeback to avoid the sweep. Wynn Sportsbook: Seattle -150 Bryce Miller vs. Chicago A. L. +135 Lynn
-
Hahn has had two chances with managers (Ricky promotion / extension & Pedro) plus Tony. A new GM should hire a new ML manager. I'll be glad to keep Pedro the rest of the season if it's a package deal off season. Need Hahn gone, not promoted to continue to destroy the organization.

It's possible Sox trade for prospects, but I think they will be more focused on maximizing salary dump next month, eat less/no money for as many FAs as possible for lottery type prospects. I don't like Hahn's chances of winning a trade vs. Gomes/Friedman.
-
If Vaughn, Elvis and Seby reach, it will be the first Sox game all 9 starters reached since: May 26: 12-3 win in Detroit LH SP Joey Wentz. May 16: 8-3 win vs. Cleveland RH SP Shane Bieber.

Soxtalk 2026: "Hahn hasn't signed a good shortstop since Tim was hurt in 2022." Nice start Zach, 1.000 OPS!

It can happen to you. if you're young at heart. Len says Tim may have tweaked something. Welcome to The MLB Zach Remillard.

And Tim finds another way.
