For Matheny's stupidity? Sure, Tony mentored him. Bubic so gassed, Sox deserve a break.

My question is where the hell is Engel? He played one game (Game 2 yesterday) since August 3. If he can't play more than that, he needs to go. If he can but Tony won't play him, Tony needs to go or just send Sheets down already, don't give a rats ass about his 90 OPS + "platoon advantage". And why the hell are all three LHB consecutive other than they suck ass currently and shouldn't be near the top of the lineup? Even if Colas struggled hitting getting acclimated to MLB pitching, he would likely surpass Sheets' 91 OPS + playing only in platoon situations, and would be a massive upgrade defensively regardless how he hits. Worth a chance the final eight weeks if they are trying to win the division at this stage with Tim out, and Colas' incredible performance this season. He could be the missing piece who takes the team to unexpected places in October. Pretty sure a smart team like the Cardinals, Dodgers, Houston or others would try it. Now: CF Robert; RF Colas ^; 1B Abreu; LF Eloy; DH Vaughn; 3B Moncada #; 2B Harrison C Zavala/Perez; SS Sosa (Leury, Engel; Pollock + Catcher Bench) Fall Equinox: SS Anderson; RF Colas ^; CF Robert; 1B Abreu; LF Eloy; 3B Moncada #; DH Vaughn; C Zavala/Perez; 2B Sosa (Leury; Harrison; Pollock + Catcher Bench).- 8/10 at KC - Cueto vs. Bubic (7:10 start)
Would you consider it helpful both to the 2022 White Sox and for Carlos' individual development to promote him to split duties with Zavala and IL Grandal until he is healthy enough to be effective both catching and hitting? I really think they should play Sosa 4-6 games a week with Tim out. Colas may be able to help them now, if so would love if they option Sheets and let Colas play RF 4-6 games a week. Think he can handle it with his Cuban/Japanese experience. Also think Hahn and Jerry want to manipulate his clock either for 2023 or even 2024, despite allegedly being in "win now" mode. That said, if Tony is not going to play any of these guys regularly in deference to his beloved shitty performing veterans, than leave them down, because it makes no sense for them to be promoted to watch players who should be reserves (Leury) or in AAA/traded (DH Sheets) or released or be last OF on bench (Pollock/Engel).- Tim Anderson out 4-6 weeks with torn ligament in his hand
I am the walrus.- Chris Sale?
Jerry provided $200M, more than enough to field a 90-95 win team playing just short of half their games against the AL Central. It's totally on Hahn and Tony this season beyond the fact it's on Jerry that both of these people are with the team in 2022. The MLB reverts to a balanced schedule in 2023, it will only get much harder from here on out.- Diagnosing the heart of the problem
Yes, and there were plenty of ways better 2+ player options for $30ish M this and next year for the two in bold. (I thought the trade for Dunning was fine after initial concerns the day of the trade, but may have been wrong on that front. Opposed the July extension, thought it was smart to see how the rest of the year played out. Kopech and Giolito were acquired when Hahn dumped everything he inherited from Kenny. I hope Jason’s Winning Bets knows what he is doing, because 3 or more White Sox runs in the first five innings would be Ab Fab. - White Sox Winner w/ Lenyn Sosa's 1st MLB HR !
Congratulations to Lenyn Sosa on his first ML home run. Hopefully he will be allowed to continue to play as long as he isn't overchallenged at the MLB level, since he is only 22 years old, well ahead of his peer group. The White Sox should not indulge Tony's worst impulses by bringing in these recently released old players: SS: Alcides Escobar (-0.4 fWAR 6th worst); Andrelton Simmons (-0.4 fWAR 7th worst) or Didi Gregoirus (-0.3 fWAR 10th worst) 2B: Robinson Cano (-1.4 fWAR (Worst among 2022 2B))- Tim Anderson out 4-6 weeks with torn ligament in his hand
White Sox Medical Staff Training in Session:- 8/9 Game Two - Vs. KC Because Why Not
But not as ashamed as they should be for picking up Kimbrel's option and trading him for this.- Tony's Wake Up Music
Thinking this would end differently if Tony managed Oklahoma.- 8/9 Game Two - Vs. KC Because Why Not
Makes sense to bring him back next Spring, see if rest and perhaps better health leads to improved results. Can always use him as a reserve catcher at this level, but without improvement this version should never DH again.- Tim Anderson out 4-6 weeks with torn ligament in his hand
And he is still 11th (2.2 fWAR) among SS in a slump year. Tony's replacement options: Mendick 0.9 ; 22 year old Lenyn Sosa & Leury Garcia -0.9 fWAR Typical Hahn/Tony preferred external option: Didi Gregorius -0.9 fWAR 2021 & -0.3 fWAR 2022- 8/9 Game Two - Vs. KC Because Why Not
Until Burger returns, they don't have a capable 3B defensively, and Burger is a stretch. Hahn really sucks at his job.- 8/9 Game 1 GT: Sox at Royals - Lynn vs. TBD (Tue 310CT)
I don't ever want to hear about Sheets' platoon advantage. He is a below average hitter playing only against RHP, is not a major league starter for any team attempting to contend, and he is worthless on a four man bench with zero defensive skills.- Tony's Wake Up Music
Wrong thread. Tony sucks more than ever.- 8/9 Game 1 GT: Sox at Royals - Lynn vs. TBD (Tue 310CT)
Oh, they would be eating / DFAing Pollock and or Grandal (or keep in a reserve role). Tim and Liam on reasonable deals are solid options, and Lynn is a useful 4-5 130+ innings eater at this point.- 8/9 Game 1 GT: Sox at Royals - Lynn vs. TBD (Tue 310CT)
Dodgers would take Lynn, Liam, Timmy (f they aren't signing a $35M SS this offseason) and say Grandal and/or Pollock. Would be a clean slate if you had a new competent GM and Manager. Otherwise, shoot for 2024 when the old guys are off the books. - 8/10 at KC - Cueto vs. Bubic (7:10 start)
