  1. I'm not saying it isn't pathetic. My point is 2020-current post season standards (40% are in) is not a method to compare Hahn's performance against other GMs employed at a time when only 10% - 12% of all teams made the playoffs until the division era, and then 17% until the pathetic "wild card" era.
  2. I noted interest in Lamet in another thread. At the Major League Minimum Salary, Lamet may be a nice reclamation project for 2023 as well. Pedro is just returning from an 80 game suspension. Wonder if the Brewers will try to get him back after Omar Narvaez suffered a left quad strain the day after they DFA'd Pedro.
  3. Time to think big. Last Chicago White Sox Three Game Winning Streak July 23-26, 2022 (Manager Tony La Russa, General Manager Rick Hahn) Last Chicago White Sox Four Game Winning Streak July 12-15, 2022 (Manager Tony La Russa, General Manager Rick Hahn) Last Chicago White Sox Five & Six Game Winning Streak May 2-8, 2022 (Manager Tony La Russa; General Manager Rick Hahn) Last Chicago White Sox Seven Game Winning Streak August 16-22. 2020 (Manager Ricky Renteria, General Manager Rick Hahn) Last Chicago White Sox Eight & Nine Game Winning Streak May 23 - June 1, 2012 (Manager Robin Ventura, General Manager Kenny Williams) Last Chicago White Sox Ten & Eleven Game Winning Streak June 15-26, 2010 (Manager Ozzie Guillen, General Manager Kenny Williams) Last Chicago White Sox Twelve Game Winning Streak June 17-27, 1961 (Manager Al Lopez, General Manager Hank Greenberg *) Last Chicago White Sox Thirteen & Fourteen Game Winning Streak May 15-30, 1951 (Manager Paul Richards, General Manager Frank Lane) Last Chicago White Sox Fifteen, Sixteen, Seventeen, Eighteen & Nineteen Game Winning Streak August 2-23, 1906 (Manager Fielder Jones, General Manager Charles Comiskey) Note *: Hank Greenberg quit his job as White Sox General Manager in late August, citing he was "too busy" to continue. LOLz
  4. The money has been spent. The Chicago White Sox cannot spare a square. Signed, Bob Nightengale, Chicago White Sox Vice President of Jerry's Statements
  5. He has pitched well, and on a ML minimum salary. Has 2.6 fWAR shares the past two seasons (1.8 and 0.8 this year), and earned 0.7 during the owner lockout shortened 2020 season for the Sox. Cease is the only Sox starter outperforming Dunning this season. The Sox had four pitchers out perform Dunning's 2021 season (Rodon, Cease, Lynn and Giolito). Johnny Cueto is considered a great pickup at $4.2M, and he has pitched well, though at the same 0.8 fWAR level as Dunning (though with 7 less starts, 20 vs, 13). Lucas and Kopech also have the same 0.8 fWAR this season.
  6. MLB fears losing both the 2018 case and having future grievances and repercussions so a few of the bottom basement teams (Cleveland, Miami and Tampa) locked up players long-term after the new CBA agreement. Wander Franco and Jose Ramirez's deals (both far below market value) are efforts to avoid future grievances in the event they lose their non payroll spending justifications being challenged via the 2018 grievance. CBA Page 139 (I couldn't find the 2022 CBA online, but it was reported Revenue Sharing provisions in the new CBA were unchanged). https://www.mlbplayers.com/_files/ugd/b0a4c2_95883690627349e0a5203f61b93715b5.pdf Teams are defending their spending by including spending less than minimum wage on minor league players, government funded minor league and spring training stadiums, and other "player development" costs in their "on field performance improvements". https://www.sportsnet.ca/baseball/mlb/mlbpa-files-revenue-sharing-grievance-four-teams/
  7. I like the Opening Day Schedule Magnets, Tee-Shirt Thursdays during the rebuild & Halfway to Saint Patrick's Day. The only Promo I bought a special ticket for was the White Sox Grateful Dead Hat Game I believe in July 2019. The promo I have no interest in are the Fireworks night, have enough of that shit all year in my neighborhood. Don't stay for it, though I like the Exploding Scoreboard Home Run Fireworks.
  8. Well, they sure ain't trying. Their position vis a vis the White Sox is irrelevant. Their payroll is the size of 2022 Keuchel, Lynn, Grandal, Pollock and Leury. Come to think of it, perhaps the Sox should also be classified as tanking. 2021 Trade Deadline: 7/29: Traded Cesar Hernandez to the Chicago White Sox. Received Konnor Pilkington. 7/30: Traded Eddie Rosario and cash to the Atlanta Braves. Received Pablo Sandoval.. Released Pablo Sandoval. 2022 Offseason transactions: Signed Bryan Shaw as a free agent. 2022 Trade Deadline: Traded Sandy Leon to the Minnesota Twins. Received Ian Hamilton.
  9. GM Ross Atkins "addresses" the situation Hahn style at the 6:00 mark:
  10. The New York A.L., Houston, Toronto, Milwaukee, Seattle and Tampa Bay have done the best in terms of payroll and WS expectations. Philadelphia, Los Angeles A. L., Chicago N.L, Colorado, Detroit and Washington have done the worst job. (Odds MGM World Series Futures Profit for $1 wagered) Top Payrolls: 1. LAD $265M ($3.5); 2. NYM $261M ($6); 3. NYY $252M ($3.5); 4. PHI $242M ($50); 5. SD $221M ($9). High Payrolls: 6. BOS $200M ($100); 7. CHW $196M ($40); 8. HOU $183M ($4.5); 9. ATL $182M ($12); 10. LAA $180M ($1,000). Average Payrolls: 11. TOR $175M ($12); 12. STL $162M ($40); 13. SF $156M ($150); 14. CHC $148M ($5,000); 15. TEX $144M ($1,000). Below Average Payrolls: 16. MIN $142M ($40); 17. COL $138M ($5,000); 18. DET $135M ($5,000); 19. MIL $132M ($26); 20. WAS $123M ($5,000). Low Payrolls: 21. SEA $114M ($30); 22. CIN $113M ($5,000); 23. KC $92M ($5,000); 24. TB $91M ($41); 25. Arizona $85M ($5,000) Tanking: 26. MIA $84M ($5,000); 27, CLE $68M ($80); 28. PIT $66M ($5,000); 29. OAK $45M ($5,000); 30, BAL $44M ($500).
  11. Preller has them all beat. The Sherriff (Twins), Lamet (DFA) and even Mackenzie Gore (Nationals), all gone from the 2021 Opening Day Rap.
  12. He’s tied for 9th with Jeremy Pena for SS fWAR (2.5), behind Willy Adames (2.8) and Nico Hoerner (2.7). He’s on a decent contract the next two years, but wouldn’t expect any top 5 seasons from here on out. He’ll need to transition to 2B to have value in his 30s, he’s barely league average now.
  13. To me, it shines a light on how bad the current FO is, as Hahn ranks dead last (or certainly among the bottom three) in terms of resources available and the team’s regular and post season record under his tenure. They tanked because of his atrocious record his first four years, and they are still are not competitive among the top AL teams after the 3-4 years of tanking. The Sox will not have the imbalanced division schedule in future years to prop their team’s W-L record vis a vis AL East and West teams.
  14. Post season was a real accomplishment back then. The Yankees were just dominant for four decades of that stretch. Doesn’t mean the GMs were bad / not good, or not superior to Rick Hahn. 12 of 30 teams now make the postseason. By current watered down standards (40% make it), the following additional Sox teams make the playoffs: Charles Comiskey (14 Seasons) 1904, 1905, 1906, 1907, 1908 Harry Grabiner (31) 1915, 1916, 1917, 1919, 1920, 1937, 1941 Frank Lane (7) 1952, 1953, 1954, 1955 Charles Comiskey II (3) 1956, 1957, 1958 Hank Greenberg (3) 1959, 1960, 1961 Ed Short (9) 1963, 1964, 1965, 1966, 1967 Roland Hemond (16) 1972, 1983, 1985 Larry Himes (5) 1990 Ron Schueler (10) 1991, 1993, 1994, 2000 Kenny Williams (12) 2005, 2006, 2008 Rick Hahn (9) 2020, 2021 Retroactive Application of Current Playoff Standards: 1920-1960: Top 3 AL teams (38%) 1961-1968: Top 4 AL Teams (40%) 1969-1975: Top 5 AL Teams (42%) 1976-2012: Top 5 AL Teams (36%) 2013-2021: Top 6 AL Teams (40%)
  15. https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/mlb/brewers-surprisingly-dfa-recently-acquired-p-dinelson-lamet/ar-AA10gOpe Sox should take a shot at Lamet who was just DFA’d by Milwaukee.
  16. Hahn went through a rebuild because he made the team progressively worse his first four seasons, including having to call his Daddy to take care of the La Roche clubhouse issues.
  17. What’s also bizarre is the timeline: 7/15 - Robert plays his latest Sox game. 7/22 - Placed on 10 Day IL, retroactive to 7/19 (post ASB) 7/28 - Robert flies to Charlotte to start a rehab assignment. 7/28 - Goes 1 for 5 w 2 K as DH in Charlotte. 7/29-7/30 Too sick to play. 7/31 - Returns to Chicago, hangs out with team in clubhouse. 8/1 - Remains out sick 8/2 - Activated, does not play. 8/3 - Fathom reports Robert off today (Wed) because it’s his birthday. 8/3 - James Fegan reports Tony stated Robert is expected to play DH 8/4, and CF 8/5, without ever playing CF during rehab or since 7/15 issues.
  18. Better hope his knee allows it. Also that there is no steak available in the clubhouse during the delay.
  19. Really? Didn’t get him him yesterday, didn’t get him today. Time will tell if he can return to playing in CF regularly later this month.
  20. My radar and weather forecast had storms rolling through from 2-4.
  21. A smart team would have used an opener, and inserted Lynn after the inevitable delay (heavy thunderstorms). Royals have an equally incompetent manager (Opener for Singer).
  22. I don’t believe any of this sellers market bullshit. Key prospects moved in two trades (Castillo and Soto), everyone else moved was for little. The Cubs certainly saw a buyers market. If they weren’t offered a package worth a compensatory pick for Contreras, or felt they could get more for Happ this off-season or perhaps want to extend him, then they did the right thing sitting yesterday. I don’t believe Hahn fucked up “yesterday”. Hahn fucked up in 2020, 2021 and 2022, which lead to no money and little prospects for moves yesterday. He is simply reaping the consequences of a dozen poor to awful decisions during this “multi championship” window, including mostly horseshit drafting, player development, high priced free agent signings on players near retirement, and roster construction during his entire tenure.
  23. Is Engel even healthy enough to play nine innings? He had 2 ABs and 12 defensive innings the past five games as the only capable CF or RF on the current roster. This team is just so fucking stupid.
