  1. There is no such thing as bad publicity.
  2. Think Hahn should today, assuming he didn't take a Summer Half Day this afternoon to hit a Hootie and the Blowfish concert.
  3. Luis Robert is currently taking batting practice. Not sure why they don't activate him tonight or tomorrow to DH every game if he's able to bat, but perhaps still be delayed returning to the OF with issues with depth perception playing OF.
  4. I think more people feared that Hahn would ultimately make things worse, consistent with the past twelve months. Didn't want to see Ryan Pace like desperation moves which would dig an even larger mess. I didn't see Jerry offering substantial money with lower than expected live gate revenues this season, and likely further decreases next year. Would make sense financially to sell of a bunch of pieces the next year, bank large profits and try to compete in 2025. Can see them blaming the "incredible" bad luck of injuries this season, and quietly extending Hahn and Tony this offseason, assuming they weren't extended last offseason.
  5. Yelich is having a nice bounce back season hitting leadoff. Not MVP level by any means (114 OPS+), but not horseshit level either (Bellinger 77 OPS+ or Leury's career). Still a massive defensive upgrade over Sheets, with offensive upside Sheets doesn't have.
  6. Chicago's Summer of Joy on both sides of town!
  7. "He got Jarrod Dyson. Should have been satisfied. Game 3 was his fault, didn't manage his "starter" and bullpen right." - SoxTalk, September-October 2020 "Rick Hahn is GM of the year. How dare you criticize his moves." - SoxTalk, September-October 2020 "Yasmani Grandal is elite. He will catch 120 games a season, just like he always has." - SoxTalk, September-October 2020
  8. Actually, more car radio. Was going to college 8-11, and then working afternoons/evenings.
  9. I fucking named the players I wanted last offseason once I knew who was available. Nobody knows who exactly who is available 2023 offseason on August 2nd. Tim Anderson is on a team friendly contract. Most teams needing a shortstop would be very interested in trading for him, even the Dodgers if they are looking to spend the $35M-$45M AAV it will take to sign the top 3 SS FAs this offseason. There is a Grand Canyon sized gapped between those three and everyone else. And who the fuck looks at RBIs in player evaluation, especially at the leadoff spot, especially with the absolute dogshit Tony La Russa pencils in 7-9 each and everyday. Talk about LOLz I wanted Pablo Lopez, Gavin Lux, Tony Gonsolin, Joey Gallo, Willson Contreras and Robbie Ray as starters because they were significant upgrades. I wanted to trade Eloy, Mercedes, Lynn, Keuchel, Kimbrel, Grandal, Burger and Collins because they were either expensive, old, not needed (Burger/Collins) and or in decline. Basically, the plan every year is to undo what Hahn did the past three seasons and try to get as many young players who can contribute now in return.
  10. Twins lost a lot of games messing with Pagan on the back end. Lopez should stabilize that end. Mahle was out for 3 weeks, has come back well his last two starts and should benefit leaving Cincinnati's bandbox.
  11. So Grandal is White Sox Eddie Robinson, and Keuchel is Ben Wallace?
  12. Rick Hahn has finished his Happy Meal, left his booth and is now enjoying the McDonalds PlayPlace area for the remainder of the afternoon.
  13. I don't think he is capable of DHing mentally, at least while he still has years on his contract. I'd hope he continues to hit the final two months if they can't trade him today and sell high before it's too late. 14. I am afraid of this lineup, but not for the same reasons.
  15. Would love to see an actual riot on August 16. Henry Legend
  16. Hell, even the Angels are smart enough to cut their losses and shed bullpen payroll when they are not competitive. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2022/08/blue-jays-interested-in-raisel-iglesias.html Not Rick Hahn, an $100M bullpen is on his bucket list.
  17. WTF, the Sox have plenty of bench bats. They need "starting" bats for 2B and RF.
  18. If the deal is free or near free, it's money you can save to pay an actual starting RF, 2B, C, SP in 2023-2025. If he declines, you can DFA him with minimal cost. Can DFA a Pollock or Grandal, trade Sheets and have an at least somewhat productive player, perhaps for 1-2 years. It all depends on the details, but I would be surprised if Boston has to pay much 2023-2025. If the Sox have to eat several million in 2022, it won't impact future budgets.
  19. I really don't give a rats ass about handedness. Get nine solid ballplayers who can hit the ball and catch the ball, let them play all out, and go out and win some ballgames.
  20. Only have to pay 2022 salary at this point, perhaps only a portion. He's 112 OPS + this season, much better DH option than Grandal or Sheets.
