Actually I would prefer Engel, with Leury second choice, in RF today. Luis flew out to Charlotte to drink chicken soup, Pollock in CF and Eloy in LF. With Grandal, Eloy and Vaughn on the roster, there is no place for Sheets. All three are far more valuable than any platoon advantage, and Sheets is the worst defensive RF option in the organization. Hahn needs to send him down or trade him.- 7/29 Athletics @ White Sox 7:10 PM CDT NBCSCH
Made sense to catch Grandal tonight, can actually catch Lynn's pitches and Lance doesn't give a rats ass who is behind home plate. Allows him to catch Sunday as well, assuming he can catch three times a week at this point (perhaps an incorrect assumption). Optimal Offensive and Defensive Lineup: SS TA 3B YM # CF AJP 1B JA C YG # LF EJ DH AV RF AE 2B JH- White Sox among 'most agressive' teams in pitching market
It's what I was calling for two years ago, and why I was critical of the philosophy of tying up money on top contracts to Grandal, Keuchel, Lynn (trade made sense, didn't like the extension), and lessor deals with Eaton, Harrison and others which were never was going to solve anything. Primarily hoping to avoid giving up a Vaughn, Colas, Montgomery, Ramos etc. for fools gold at this stage.- If the White Sox trade for Shohei Ohtani they have a chance
They are also Able to identify and sign good players beyond Paddy's signings. Develop many players to improve as they move through the system, and trade from a position of strength and depth. Trade key prospects for players in their prime, not guys at the end of their careers like James Shields, Jeff Samardzija or Todd Frazier.- 2022 Rule Changes
Either revoke it or stop the dog and pony show. No further information is required for Congress to vote on whether MLB should be subject to the same laws every other professional sport and business in America. Congress should also eliminate tax deductibility of interest paid on government issued bonds covering stadium debt.- Benintendi to NYY

What NC stated is what I’ve been suggesting since 2020. Sign / trade for quality younger players, stop relying on expensive players on their last deal, move some of these veterans you’ve accumulated and bring in quality younger replacements who can contribute now. In terms of this week, what I’m saying is either go big with a half dozen of the best players available or stand pat, even sell a few of the 35ish guys that quite frankly have not nor will not contribute to any “multi championship” contending team. The Sox have not had a legitimate multi championship quality roster since the Larry Hines teams, which he got shitcanned like Dale Tallon for his efforts, and were in part sabotaged by Jerry on his quest to crush the players union.- Trade Rumors Catch-all
Atlanta had a decimated OF in 2021 and brought four quality options to fill it. The Sox faced a decimated OF in 2021 and brought in Nick Williams, Jake Lamb, Brian Goodwin, and played Leury Garcia every goddamn game. The Sox faced this in 2022 and brought in Pollock, moved Sheets to RF, and played Leury Garcia every goddamn game.- White Sox among 'most agressive' teams in pitching market
Have to agree with @NCsoxfan. If they are not going full out and bring in difference maker players to fill in holes at 2B, RF and C, and bring in a Castillo or Montas that can help in October, and 1-2 relievers, then I’d prefer they start shedding some of these overpriced underperforming veterans signed the past three years they haven’t yet DFA’d, stick with the younger players they do have, and spend the time and money overhauling the organization with a competent outside professional to bring in quality player development and scouting for the first time in decades. They spent all this money on adding to Tony’s staff, and players have actually taken a step back. They can’t develop catchers, infielders, outfielders or relief pitchers the past decade, acquired decent starters externally as well. Have whiffed on Top Five draft picks with nothing to show for it. This is no way to legitimately field a “multi championship” roster, which is why industry people looking at this from the outside see a meager chance of 2022 success (1%) and state the prudent path is to sell what you can this week.- 7/29 Athletics @ White Sox 7:10 PM CDT NBCSCH
Perhaps, but this is the last one they can use to influence whether they can add any additional help, or on the flippity flip and likely more prudent scenario, stand pat or event start selling off the end of the line costly poorly performing veterans they have been accumulating the past three seasons.- What's Your Home Run Call?

Tony La Russa is a legitimate Hall of Famer, brother, and has earned the right to manage and name the team's coaching staff. However, ownership has voted 4-1 that he cannot name the roster or lineup, as it would include Leury and others of questionable ability. Lineup: DH T. Anderson LF L. Robert 3B J. Ramirez CF B. Hahn had the chance to improve the team and he arguably has made the team worse last offseason. His moves most certainly made both the current and future teams worse in July 2021. Quite frankly, I'd rather have him sell off players over 27 beyond Abreu at this point (unless he understandably would want to pursue a WS elsewhere before he retires) than I would have him sell off our best players under 27. May have the added benefit of pushing Tony toward resigning after the season, better still next week for "health reasons". Add what you can with minimal cost, but stop with the Ryan Pace bullshit. This coupled with more payroll flexibility and having three months to formulate the first solid offseason plan since 2004-2005 would give the Sox a far more realistic shot at a WS than adding a few overpriced veterans to nudge the 1-2% WS needle they are pegged this season, and mortgaging the future further.- Why not Colas?
