  1. I can’t take the attitude that it’s hard. ‘It would be hard for any of us’. None of us are tasked with doing a million dollar job doing the task. It’s hard. Earn the money. I don’t even think it’s that hard to have a basic description of all the players in your system, in your head. Many of us on a fan level already know the top 30 on that level.
  2. Fair. But addendum to my “final” take, Getz compounded the concern by making a joke out of it. That was a poor response. I guess that’s a defense mechanism without thinking it through. But if he wanted to put people at ease, he should’ve been more serious and reassuring that the potential issue is over. Fans want to know if this guy is on top of things. Of none of that matters to him, then he’s going to be fine. But the suspicion will linger. Put it to bed Chris.
  3. It’s not just a verbal slip. It’s a case where the GM doesn’t know his people. The people that put together the scouting reports failed him. Or Getz failed to learn enough about the players involved. This is not a nothing burger. It’s also not a deal breaker. But we have to know if this problem is fixed. Making a joke about it is not the way.
  4. I’m going to fall into the following final take. Namely, did Getz make the trade based on doing poor homework, and bad information? Based on acquiring a switch hitter? We have a serious problem to fix then. He’s got to fix the pipeline. At least he now knows the information pipeline is faulty. Conversely, if the trade would have been done anyway, it’s still problematic. But it’s OK if Getz found a problem to fix without damaging the production.
  5. I wouldn’t think so. I suppose at the end of the day it depends on the bottom line. It was just revealed that Getz is a big picture, organization direction guy, doesn’t get down in the weeds. Responsible for all his department directors to be on top of the details. Yet there he was, in front of the cameras all over the podcasts and media shows talking as if he intimately knows the players. He doesn’t. Can he work that way? Sure I guess. Depends on how well he has staffed his baseball organization. He’s got to get back into his office and stay behind his desk
  6. I totally get that. He is responsible for knowing exactly what he is trading for, one way or another. You simply can’t be wrong on this level of wrong, and and still be competent in your job, can you? Maybe you can. Maybe he is only a figurehead boss. But the team wins, and he generally has everything pointed in the right direction. OTOH if you saw that Everybody Loves Raymond episode where Robert is dating the perfect new woman in every department. Perfect. But he comes to her apartment and finds out she eats flies, and worships frogs. He’s got to let her go.
  7. I get his position as a GM may or may not include scouting, if that’s how he wants to do his job (without scouting). But I wish he was grinding like that. Be that as it may, someone told Getz Acuna was a switch hitter. And that is the guy that might have to be taken out for a ride to the woods with the fellas
  8. Are we sure Getz was talking baseball?
  9. The sun will rise over the ruins, like a reassuring gesture. There will be no witnesses. And the solar system will be better.
  10. Getz to himself: ‘This nice lil’ switch hitter is available in the deal? I am killing Stearns on this transaction!’ 😎🤣🤩
  11. This is a bad one. If he made the deal based on this, then it’s stupid. But it’s mostly just a bad look because most people view the deal as acceptable as is. Unfortunately, feeds into a negative perception of him in some circles. Yet I am fairly satisfied with the job he’s doing even including this snafoo. But ownership has to check him out, maybe see a doctor.
  12. Unless I’m wrong, I believe we are technically certain.
  13. That’s the idea. Nobody’s getting blocked on this team.
  14. RochTalk is sufficient
  15. Right now I’m more interested in what the Sox are spending on infrastructure and scouting etc. from what I understand, departments have expanded in size. How they are doing relative to the league I don’t know. But that was encouraging in the moment of reading. Building the pipeline has always been the biggest problem imo.
  16. *Too much information* If I can kick open the door, I do. If not, 1 pinky finger does the trick. Same on stall door closing, or with paper towel/toilet paper. Handle non bidet business after seat covering every surface. Listen while occupant in the next stall steps right to the bowl and goes Neanderthal on it with no procedure. I Leave with no concerns to the sink. Use paper towel to turn on faucet, and soap dispenser, hopefully touchless. Have a spare ready to turn off faucet. Use same spare to grab exit door handle, or another spare after drying.
  17. Without question, they can.
  18. Now that I’m here. It’s time to unburden my soul. It always bothered me. For your sakes… I pretty much know most of you don’t put paper down on the seat. Bidet only does half the job of a clean rear end I assume. So you proud bidet people only cleaning your innards, and soiling your outermost bits are suffering from a great delusion.
  19. The last thing I wanted to think about ballplayers doing, was cleaning their bungholes. ‘Preciate this.
  20. Jerry is the last vestige of Sox fan purgatory
  21. Is it crazy to be the team that takes on Framber Valdez. Shift our season into a higher gear. Can certainly afford it
  22. How about a Mega UCLA baseball game thread? 😎🤪
  23. Nah. Positive comments are fine. People were called out for questioning Getz
  24. Hopefully both pitchers were struggling coming back from little injuries and will rebound
