  1. That’s fair enough. I just don’t know how Getz can install anything other than a lateral move. He can’t sacrifice anybody he had in mind that might actually be good on the current roster. It’s like throwing your man into the wood chipper. Not only that, if you’re a good managerial candidate, you’re not taking the Sox job anyway if you had better options, which a good candidate should. One of those options is to tell Getz good luck with your life.
  2. Standards are important. Some fans aren’t bought cheap, and resent being taken for granted. If you want to be a doormat, be my guest. Don’t act like it’s supposed to be the most appropriate kind of fan there is. Fan the way you want to sir. I don’t have to believe it helps the club.
  3. Homers are the worst kind of fan for a terrible organization to have
  4. Necessary change is not necessarily the correct changes under Jerry. They’re never going to their minor league foundation right. We’re waiting for decades. It should sink in. Not happening. At this point, losses are fun just because Jerry is humiliated. If he has any shame.
  5. I don’t disagree. To a certain degree, this kind of polishing thing is expected. However, if I am expecting these particular guys to learn the game in the show under these conditions, this is a hopeless mission. Players gotta be capable, and also hopeful. I want to say by the time this team is winning again, the roster will be completely overturn, a new manager in place, and this is just a closed chapter. Right now, kind of have a hard time mustering up any passion one way or another to be honest.
  6. It’s good to stand up and tell the truth. Even if truth doesn’t matter ? The players are only human though. They suck. They know it’s hopeless. Time to think about girlfriends, the house, the family, and spending money instead of what’s really important. Baseball.
  7. Maybe he does maybe he doesn’t. But I always get a kick out of fans getting incandescent over the mangers of garbage teams. Kind of misplaced fury.
  8. Ozzie isn’t about to lay down on the tracks in front of a moving train. And if you are Getz, you aren’t very anxious to put your own guy on the tracks either. Maybe, you pick the guy that begs for change at the intersection on the way to work. And you tell everyone where you found this guy just to get him off the corner for awhile.
  9. Eventually the time will be right to make him be a rightful scapegoat for all organizational sins. And the next cannon fodder will be put into place.
  10. Ozzie’s not stepping into this
  11. Is he really a goner though? I mean, I get it. But the next guy clearly has no shot either, if it was Joe Madden, zombie Billy Martin, or Dusty Baker’s younger version time traveling. Who is gonna take this job? Nobody good that’s for sure. If you’re Getz, you didn’t hire him, and he is taking most of the bullets for now
  12. For the most part. Eloy and Moncada gone would have been moves top organizations made years ago because they always have a pipeline built in the minors, and resources to import more talent, and it’s no sweat. Not even a thought. The Sox? Nobody is convinced their scouting and resources are on point, or on a glide path to lasting change. Ownership has not been committed to seeing to it.
  13. We have been watching this slow-moving car crash in slow motion for years. Some folks can’t or won’t ever see the big picture.
  14. Whatever bridge Riordon has burned, Schriffen also has burned a bridge to sports radio media.
  15. Whether or not Marriotti was one’s cup of tea with his antics and personality, I support his combat posture that he took. Given the ownership and franchises he was paid to write about, he had no other choice if he was on the side of angels. General disdain is what was called for, and still is
  16. Yeah I do. A skeptic. Why would the press ever be skeptical while observing Chicago teams and ownership I wonder
  17. The Packers are known for quarterbacks, the Sox may actually be known for first basemen. Maybe we should lean into this ?
  18. It’s not insignificant insomuch as it indicates a disturbing MO if drawn out. Kind of typical Sox historically
  19. towards his next bruise, cut, gash, tear, pull, slash, gouge, illness, impairment, disability, incapacity, disablement, affliction.
  20. It doesn’t matter who is “openly hostile”. Sometimes you earn hostility towards yourself. Right is right. This outsider had no right to come in here and tell Sox fans how to fan.
  21. It’s from White Sox Beat (Merkin). I tried to post it all but for some reason it was stretching the page. But as far as I can tell, there’s no context which changes the meaning of that quote
