  1. I think he had to be on the roster at the beginning of the day September 1.
  2. When is the last time the Sox won a game when trailing after 8? I can't even remember it happening.
  3. Outside of someone throwing a no-hitter, there's really no reason to have any starter go more than 6 at this point.
  4. I was beginning to wonder if anybody could hit one out of this place.
  5. Gavin walked twice Friday. Pitchers really don't want to pitch to him.
  6. It actually richocheted off the side wall into his glove. Impossible to see live but pretty clear on slo-mo replay.
  7. Wow so I had a total brain cramp and thought the game started at 7:05. I've been watching football. Guess I didn't miss much.
  8. Dunning is pretty young and could still get a lot better, but even if he does it was still a good trade.
  9. No, he was not on the 40 man roster on September 1.
  10. Really bad day for the Yankees. They lost to Cleveland, Boston won, and Toronto about to finish off Minnesota.
  11. Was hoping TLR would serve his during game 5 of the ALDS.
  12. Yes, and while I haven't looked this up yet, I feel like there have been several games where the offense failed to score after the 6th inning and we all blew up when the bullpen didn't hold a slim lead.
  13. Yes, I do believe that some of the losses we've pinned on the bullpen really fall on the offense. The best bullpen in the AL is Tampa with an ERA of 3.28. That means the best bullpen gives up a run every 2 2/3 innings. So if you're turning the game over to the pen with a 1 run lead after 6, and don't add on any more runs, you can't really blame the bullpen for that loss. Giving up 1 run in 3 innings is actually a better than expected result.
  14. My guess is that they're lining up Rodon to pitch one of the two DH games so they can limit his pitch count without burning up the bullpen too much.
  15. 9/18: Magic number = 5 Minnesota and Kansas City have been eliminated. Magic number to eliminate Detroit is 1, which could happen as early as this afternoon. Sox remain 3 back of Houston. In the Wild Card race Boston is in the first spot 0.5 games ahead of New York in the second spot. Toronto is 0.5 back, Oakland 2.5 back and Seattle 3.5 back. Over in the National League, the Giants are in front of the Dodgers by 2, with both having clinched at least a WC spot. St. Louis holds the 2nd WC spot, with Cincinnati 1 back and San Diego 1.5 back. Philly is 2.5 out of the WC and 2 behind Atlanta in the East.
  16. I must have zoned out for a minute. What did he do?
  17. Normally it would be Robert or Engel, but with their injuries I'd guess Yoan.
  18. Madison Bumgarner no hits through 5 at Houston. Toronto somehow losing to Minnesota.
  19. "Soxtalk said I'm not crazy" will get you far in this world.
